Tell me about your 30 Day prayer challenge. For me, I am still praying, Oh Lord, hear. Oh Lord, forgive. Oh Lord, listen and act. I haven't seen a lot of changes as far as specific radically answered prayers however I sense God working in our current situation. He is challenging me to a deeper and more intense prayer life. I look forward to continuing my Daniel 9:19 prayer model and watching God work and answer prayers.

In today's reading I learned something new. I never knew that others had just touched the fringe of Jesus' garment and were healed.

John 6:1-15
Today’s passage comes from the beginning of the Bread of Life discourse (John 6:1-71), so called because it presents Jesus’ teaching that he is the Bread of Life, the food that will forever sustain those who believe in him. The narrative proclaimed today serves as a prelude to this teaching that we will hear proclaimed in John 6:24-35.
The detail John provides regarding the close proximity of the Passover to the multiplication miracle helps the reader understand that Jesus reinterprets this Jewish feast in light of his actions. John’s presentation of Jesus in this light is a common occurrence in chapters 5 through 10 of his Gospel. As the eminent scripture scholar Raymond Brown, ss, explains, through his actions of healing on an “unnamed feast” of the Jews that occurs on a Sabbath, Jesus reinterprets this as a day of life rather than a day simply of rest (5:1-47). The Jewish Fest of Tabernacles is understood anew in relation to Jesus’ claim to be “the light of the world” 97:1-10:21). And, with Jesus, the Jewish Feast of Dedication (Hanukkah) is now to be seen in light of faith in him as the one whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world (10:22-42) (Raymond Brown, ss, Introduction to the New Testament, pp. 344-349).
In today’s Gospel, Jesus reinterprets the Passover with a Eucharistic theme. Jesus does not do away with the feast of the old covenant, but through the miracles of the multiplication of the loaves, when the Lord says the blessing, breaks and distributes the loaves through his disciples to feed the multitude, prefigure the superabundance of this unique bread of his Eucharist” (#1335; parallels for the Gospel passage: Mark 6:30-53; 8:1-10; Matthew 14:13-34; 15:32-39; Luke 9:10-17).
Because the Gospel according to John does not have a Last Supper narrative as the synoptic Gospels do, the multiplication miracle and the entire Bread of Life discourse is where the evangelist develops the core of his Eucharistic theology, with the Greek verb eucharistein (“give thanks”) being used in the description of Jesus’ actions (6:11). At the end of today’s passage, John notes how Jesus withdrew from the crowd who was going to make him king. For Jesus, the heart of the Eucharist is not any political kingship, but achieving the will of his Father, the one who sent him into the world. The Father’s will is the will those of us who participate in the Eucharist today are nourished to follow also.

Lori….Paid a visit to my Mom yesterday….Her sewing on tolit-paper….Her excitement…I can see why?? I snapped some photos….If anybody want to see my Mom’s (75 yr. old talent). She always was a sewer. The year I got married 3 of her daughters got married. For all 3 of our weddings she maid ALL the bridesmaids dresses…..and for our wedding showers made each one of us a homemade quilt. I love you Mom…Thanks!!

Wendy, daily you are prayed for. Everything you are doing here on the blog…I know how much God has spoke to me alone, through your words…well, the enemy is out to oppose anything you will do. You are a powerful force in the God’s plan to save this world. You are just the person Satan wants to defeat.
Reading through the Word with you has opened up another avenue with me: praying. It’s really like the two go hand in hand. My initial morning prayer time sets the tone for my whole day. It gives me a chance to begin by praising Him for a new day! After lifting up requests, I just feel lighter. Not so overwhelmed, but rather at peace. So, many benefits of praying, but what comes to my mind right now is the peace that is received. That close time with Him. Just me and my Father, before the sun coming up. Greeting each day, knowing that I am not alone. It’s a time to seek to be rid of sin, that I might not know about. Sin, looming in me - [and believe me there are times – that He unveils sin on my heart before I’m even through walking!] Knowing that all of my worries and concerns can be given up to Him, and knowing, that He will be there with me each step of the way. And, I, too am learning that as far as the trials – well, it’s these situations where we grow even closer to Him. Walking in the Spirit with Him, and knowing everything will be fine. I’ve noticed too that during this prayer time, it is quiet, and I’m focusing on Him, this is when he does His most talking to me. Also, it’s a time to end in thanks. So, much to be thankful for, oh-that He would choose me, to be one of His daughters!

I was over welmed by the beauty of God’s nature, without even going outside (!) - as I scrolled down and took in each view of your surroundings! You, my friend - are your mother’s daughter! Loved your fall pictures and words – soothing to take in this morning! Thank you for sharing your life with us! I’m getting ready to do some planting myself – seasonal flowers in our mailbox planters. (Small area) ha-ha! I so enjoyed all the pumpkin – pictures. I, too, love fall, harvest, and décor! My husband was able to bring in a truck load of bright, orange pumpkins! We are able to share them with those around us.
Dixie, your trip is winding down; you’ve been in my prayers this week. Your kids couldn’t have found a more beautiful area to take you to! Sedona is one of God’s most beautiful spots! We stayed in the “Connor Hotel,” once in Jerome – our son, Connor liked this idea! (We were celebrating his birthday.) The Grand Canyon is a sight to behold!

I have been right along with you all during these weeks, praying for your requests, acknowledging God's love and mercy in each of you. Thank you for your transparency and for allowing me to share in prayer as I read your beautiful prayers. Wendy's teachings and her openness with us makes me love her more as I see how God is using her to reveal my issues that need to be left with HIM.
Doctor visits have been frequent and am now doing throat exercises to strengthen the muscles. Praying for His strength to do them. Also, had another cortisone shot in right knee and may be having knee replacement surgery in the future. Sarah is having radiation and is surrounded with Christians during her visits. Praise God for His ministering angels.
Dixie, Jen Ren, Linda, Jacque, Lori, G&P, Karen, Amy,Michelle NE, Rhonda...You all are so dear to me and share so much that ministers to me each day. I know I've omitted someone, but each post has special meaning and I love you all.

Two things stood out to me today in our reading- Jesus got away alone to pray (Mark 6:46b) and when Peter took his eyes off of Jesus, his walk with the Lord faltered. Like Peter, when I take my eyes off the Lord, my walk with him falters.
To do: Get alone to pray- it deepens my relationship with the Father, and keep my eyes on Jesus!

Teeny, how good to hear from you! I have been very worried about you, but I don't like to "nag" people about posting. (I haven't been as good about it lately myself, because I'm trying to cut down on my computer time.)Don't you worry at all about knee replacement surgery. My dad has had both replaced and it improved his life a lot. And that was many years ago. I'm sure they've even improved the procedure by now.
How wonderful that Sarah is surrounded by Christians. Thank you, Lord, for taking care of that!

I just read your post from yesterday. I can relate to your feelings of wanting to just forget everything and sleep. I have dealt with depression and anxiety myself. This thought always used to help me - "These feelings are temporary, and I will feel differently soon."
Please know friend that there is a lot of help out there today for these issues. Medication and counseling were definitely part of my healing journey. I believe in God's healing power and He has done a mighty work in these areas. But I believe He also put caring physicians and counselors in my path to help me along.
Lifting you up in prayer and asking that He put the right people to help you in your path.

I have a God moment to share.
Yesterday I was still feeling very depressed and I had a cry fest. I did start praying. Last night I decided to try to call a friend of mine whose name is Karen. Karen lives across the street from my spiritual mom so they're close friends also and they have the same phone number except for the last four numbers. I dialed my phone and when the person on the other line said hello I thought it sounded a lot like my spiritual mom but I couldn't understand why she'd be answering Karen's phone. I asked for Karen and she said that it was because her name is also Karen. I was so excited to hear her voice and I realized I had dialed the wrong number. This wasn't the first time I've dialed her number by mistake. One day last year I called my spiritual mom when I meant to call my sister because they have the same area code and another time I called my sister when I meant to call my spiritual mom. Anyway, last night my spiritual mom and I talked and had prayer. By the time we got off the phone with each other I was smiling and feeling so much better. I felt like I was being hugged by Jesus. I rarely call my spiritual mom on the weekend or at night and she had just gotten back from her vacation shortly before my call. I guess God knew who I needed to talk to besides him.
I am praising God Jen-Ren for how He provided just what you needed. He is so good to us, He loves us very much!
Today in church, my pastor spoke on gratitude. She gave an example of a high school friend who had had polio and had an obvious limp. One snowy Minnesota day, the friend came to her locker and said to Pastor, "I am so thankful I only fell 3 times"....my pastor thought, I never fell once and yet I showed no gratitude for that fact. Doesn't that just take you aback? We have so many things to be thankful for we cannot even name them all. What are you thankful for? That you didn't fall down more than 3 times today?
Praise God that He surrounds us with those rare souls who have attitudes of gratitude!

Last night when in church...the gospel reading for today was about the 10 lepers whom were healed...Father went on to tell us about a heart condition he had...and when started praying to one of his favorite Saints(St John Newmann)...his heart condition improved by itself. So happy, Jen Ren, that you followed your spirit to make that call! It can be hard to reach out to others, but this is what God wants us to do. It is through others who reflect God's Spirit back to us that we become more whole-- we can't do it by ourselves.
Teeny, thank you for letting us know how you are doing. I want to second Michelle in saying that you need not fear surgery on your knee. After their knee replacements, our patients often regret that they didn't do it sooner! Praying for your strength and for Sarah, dear one.
In my twilight sleep this morning I was thinking about Jesus feeding the multitude, and this idea came into my head... For miracles, you require a need, a seed and a deed.
The crowd was hungry (need)
There were five loaves/two fishes (seed)
There was blessing and passing of food (deed)
In our lives, there is always a NEED (a loved one, a financial situation, a job, a health issue, a social problem)
We must invest the SEED (prayer, intention, fortitude, time, funds, materials, etc.)
And then we have to do the DEED (write a letter, make a phone call, volunteer, meet for coffee, donate, provide a meal, ACT!)
John 6:63b: "Human effort accomplishes nothing." We need the Spirit in our hearts to do good. This is how God works through us... we are His hands, His disciples. His love can be passed around, like the baskets, from person to person, each accepting his own daily portion, and amazing miracles can happen!
