Open Blog Weekend September 25-27
Good Weekend to Everyone!

Cool, cloudy, and rainy here in the Charlotte area. My weekend will be like most cleaning, washing, and just being at home, for the latter I am very grateful.

Thank you all for praying for my precious momma, Fay. She slept in her own bed last night. (There is no feeling like sleeping in your own bed.) Her recovery is coming along beautifully. She is working hard to be ready to have her other knee replacement before the end of the year. When springs rolls around, she will be a "new" woman. I am very thankful for your love and encouragement and passed them along to momma.

This week's reading has been very exciting for me. Moving to the New Testament seems to have given us a new wind in our sail. It is hard to believe October is just a few days away, which means we are even closer to reaching our goal.

Have a great weekend! See you Monday.

So glad Fay is home and snuggling up in her own bed! The simple, lovely pleasures!

The NIV Chrono start the NT in a couple of days. Can't wait! I can't belive it is almost October. As I look at my Chrono Bible and see how far we've come, it is delightful!

Wendy -- thank you for leading the way! The fruit for Him is going to be amazing!

Happy Saturday Dear Friends!

Glad that Faye was in her own bed, and that she's on the road to recovery! So, so thankful that I got to read about God being glorified through you guys yesterday! Thank you, silent one in Louisiana, Morgen, Chanan, Susan, & Jan, for sharing His Glory!

Today's reading was full of good stuff, but, the one verse that hit me personally was, "if you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry," (Luke 3:11). Knowing that the LORD knows all things, and thus, knowing that he knows the total amnt. of shirts hanging in my over-stuffed closet(!) makes me want to gasp! I want a more giving heart,to truly want to share what I have with those in need!

Looking forward to a fun-filled weekend here in AZ. My son turns 18 today! It's going to be a festive day full of celebrating...and continuing next week with the entire family-extended and all! Lord, shine out of me with this group! How I so want you to come out of me through my actions, so that they, bit by bit, will come to know YOU! Be the words on my tongue. My prayer is that my whole family will love the LORD my GOD with all of their hearts...with all of their souls...and will all of them.
GLORY! Hugs & blessings! Lori - AZ

Wendy, so wonderful to read this update on your mom. Thank You Lord. Praying she will continue to heal.

Happy b'day to your son Lori!! Exciting times. I don't know how your family could miss seeing Jesus in you my friend. He just explodes from you here each day!!!

The past three days I've been cleaning out bedrooms in our home. Filled my car to the brim with clothes, toys, etc..and delivered it to "Bibles for Missions". (A second-hand store that sells things for almost nothing and then uses the money to purchase Bibles for other countries.) Can you believe some of the clothes still had tags on!!! Lori, I know exactly how you feel.

In today's reading my eyes went to the skies. “We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.” Matthew 2:2

The fact that the royal astrologers had to inquire about the little King’s location tells me something. Not everyone saw the star. How do I know this? Why, there would be a mob of people. The magi would not have needed to ask. They could have followed the crowd.

The messenger that hailed Christ’s birth, wasn’t a prophet, but a star. Not a new constellation or a meteor, but a glimmer of light. A star among millions of other stars. What made this star different from all the rest? How come the wise men saw it, but few others did?

In silence His birth announcement was given, written in the sky, yet only a handful of others took the time to read it. Only a few were looking for it. Only a few were expecting it.

The wise men saw His star as it rose. They didn't miss a moment of it's appearing. It hadn't been in the sky for days. They were diligently looking and intentionally seeking. Hearts prepared. Eyes wide open.

Father, forgive me for the times I miss seeing You. I confess that sometimes the eyes of my heart fail to see You, the bright and morning Star. My time in Your Word is only an academic assignment and my search for You is in reference books, concordances and dictionaries. Trying to find you in man’s written word, and not the Word. My eyes to the ground and not the sky.

Yet, other times, like the wise men, my heart seeks You earnestly. I look and I search deeply, not wanting even the slightest glimpse of You passing by to go unnoticed. Lord, I long to see You all around me and hear You speak. Let me see You rising in my life. I want to follow You to the manger. I want to kneel in Your presence. I desire to give You gifts fit for a King. Gold for Your deity. Frankincense to worship You. Myrrh for Your sacrificial death.

“Help me to understand that you reveal yourself not to those whose mind is a concordance but to those whose heart is a cathedral.” Ken Gire

Lord, is there a ‘star’ You will have appear before me today that You want me to follow?

Father, I’m looking up,
Joy

Something I started today was marking all the names that Jesus was called in the NT. I went back to yesterday's reading and found in Luke 2:11 that He was called
Savior
messiah
Lord.
In Matthew 2:23 He was called a Nazarene.
In Luke 2:48 He was called Son.
I think I will even make a list and add to it as we find more names. It will be interesting to see the list at the end of the year.

Wendy, I'm sure it feels great to have your Mama home where you can help her heal. You don't miss your bed until you are away from it

I'm going to see my Mama on Tues. She is turning 99, and my 6 brothers and their wives, my hubby and I are giving her a birthday party in Phoenix AZ. One last time we will all be together before she goes Home. We will be singing old hymns and silly songs, laughing a LOT and listening to an old, old cassette of a booster band she had in 1952 at church. I hope she will be able to remember the people who are on it.

I am taking my Bible and will try to keep up this week...hope I can get to someone's computer every day so I can "visit" with all of you. You all are so sincere and real, down-to-earth "Christ"ians. You challenge me every day to live closer and closer to the Lord. How I would love to meet you all....some day we will!!!! I try to imagine what it will be like to see Christ face to face, and I can't! That reminds me of the song "What a Day that Will Be"...

What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see,
When I look upon His face,
the One who saved me by His grace,
When He takes me by the hand and
and leads me to the promised land,
What a day, glorious day that will be!

Oh, I can't wait.

Dear sweet Ladies,

I am back in Basel now and this time my husband has joined me for a week. We hope to finalize our permanent address while he is here, and then he goes back to finalize the move and deal with the house disposition. I think we will sell it.

In my travels this weekend, I have kept up with the reading and with you comments. Wendy, I am so glad your mother is recovering! I hope the rest of her recovery is fast!

It is so nice to read of all the birthday celebrations that are happening this week; Lori's son, Jan's mother (99!). And at the same time we read of Christ's baptism. How symbolic!

Today I was struck again by the fulfillment of the Old Testament and all the references. They occurred when John was asked if he was the Messiah, Elijah or the Prophet; they appeared when John announced who he was and who was coming; of course Jesus, wearing the full armor of God, used the Sword of the Spirit (himself, the Word of God) to overcome temptation. But, my favorite of all was the image of Jesus as the ladder between Heaven and Earth (John 1:51) and the footnote that referred us to Gen 28:10-17, Jacob's dream. This really adds a new dimension for me to the words Jesus said; "no-one comes to the Father but by me."

I hope you all continue to have a blessed weekend! It is really fall now here in Basel, and I am looking forward to showing my husband around a bit.

Be blessed,

Karen

Good Sunday Morning Sisters,
I love being in the NT and reading Christ's life in order is just wonderful to me, to see how all the gospels fit together is too cool :)

The passage that really hit me in this weekend's reading was Matthew 3:8 and Luke 3:8 where John tells the Pharisees and Sadducees to "Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God." I think this is SOOO important! How many times do we, do I, tell God I am sorry for something but do not change my behavior? To truly repent, agree with God and turn from that sin. There is one area in my life that I have fallen into this trap over and over again and God is really working change in me right now about it. I have taken some steps in obedience to "prove by the way I live" that I have truly turned from this pattern of sin and am living God's way. Over the past few weeks God has confirmed my calling as an intercessor in so many ways, and it is so important that my own life is in order to fulfill these things He has called me to. If I cherish sin in my heart He will not hear (Psalm 66:18). My prayer is Psalm 19:13 that willful sins will not rule over me. That I will not premeditate sin, as Beth says, we will always have reactive sin, but we want to get to the place where we are not committing proactive sin. I just thought these verses were really important and wanted to share :)

Wendy, that is great about your mom! Lori, I pray all the parties this weekend are going just wonderfully and Karen, enjoy the precious time with your husband! Jan, isn't it nice to have sun in the forecast? We have been saturated with rain the past couple of weeks here in TN and starting today it looks like God is going to shower sun our way. Praise Him!

A huge praise to share, I went back to the doctor on Friday for a recheck on my Candida and things are turning around! The diet and supplements are working and I am getting well, PTL! I wrote about the full story on my blog "a journey to health" if you get a chance to check it out. I am so excited and it makes all the hard work to stay on the diet so worth it!

Hope you all have a blessed Lord's day!

In His Love,
Brandee, TN

Happy Sunday friends!

Brandee, so wonderful to read how you are feeling so much better. I will travel over and read your blog. The verses you mentioned made me think of something I heard James MacDonald say last night on his DVD entitled, "Why God?". He said, "If your faith hasn't changed you, your faith hasn't saved you." There must be evidence of a changed life.

The thought that struck me today - and it's just short and sweet - “Jesus said to the servants, ‘Fill the jars with water’; so they filled them to the brim.” John 2:7 (NIV)

Brimful obedience always brings brimful blessings.

So...wondering...How full are our “jars”?

Have a wonderful day all,
Joy

Wendy, I am so glad to read your mom is home. There's really nothing like sleeping in your own bed.

Joy, I love your comment...another cross-stitch sampler, "Brimful obedience always brings brimful blessings".

Wendy, I don't comment daily but I'm always here. Thanks for being here, even when times are tough. I know it must have been difficult to be here with us and with your mom. I really apprecite you.

What a blessed way to start my Sunday morning - coming on here and having my heart stirred.I landed too on John 1:51 where Jesus is referred to as "the stairway" between heaven and earth. Awesome visual for me. And the reference to Jacob makes it even more rich, Karen.
I am headed to a nearby church where my cousin (missionary in Guatemala) is speaking. Should be enlightening!
Way to hang in there ladies!

Hi everyone,

I haven't been able to read the readings but have been looking over Wendy's key verses and your comments. Figure I'll catch up on those readings next year when we do it all again :)

A quick update on me and Elliot - my neck is feeling much better, still a twinge here and there, but overall much more functional. Breastfeeding is improving slowly, we are off the pump and formula and have been on the boob so to speak for past few days. Still having difficulty with the latch - ie still hurts, but I am managing.

Tomorrow my hubby is back to work and I was starting to panic big time as I am used to having hubby's help each feeding. But I read Susan's comments and was struck by “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.” (Matt 6:34, The Message) Oh what a sweet reminder, turn to God, He will help me with today and tomorrow.

I was also struck with remembering Mary, and the awesome responsibility she was tasked with and how overwhelming that must have been for her. Lord, help me turn to You in obedience as Mary did in raising this precious little boy.

My MIL is going through her second mastectomy in next few weeks. I was glad we got to share some special time with our son with her before her surgery (My in laws spent a week visiting with us from out of town). Please, your continued prayers for her.

Wendy - so glad to hear your mother is recovering and at home now!

Lori, Jan - It was nice to read about your family celebrations, I hope you had an amazing weekend. We have been enjoying our first few days alone as a family this week.

Susan, was happy to hear your good news, and your attitude is so inspiring!

To everyone, thanks again for your outpouring of love and support.

Jodie
