A New Covenant

"After supper he took another cup of wine and said,
"This is the new covenant
between God and His people-an agreement confirmed
with my blood which is poured out as a sacrifice for you."
Luke 22:20

My Take Aways

Something Old:

The new covenant is for everyone who will do the following. It leading to life abundant and everlasting!

  • Believe
  • Receive
  • Repent
  • Submit

Something New:

Some people have too much time on their hands.

I love that we are told Jesus loved his disciples. That warms my heart.

We are blessed through Abraham's obedience. We are blessed through Jesus' obedience.

Galatians 3:8
Galatians 3:14
Galatians 3:18

Something to Do:

Thank God today for the new covenant and the sacrifice He made for me so that I might have eternal life.

Good morning, GIGs! Wendy, thank you for this teaching today. What really hit home was the obedeince of Abraham and Jesus. Sometimes, I think that I am trying to be obedient, and it's really more about "me." Not obedience but pridefulness. This is definitely an area that I need to be in constant prayer about and to really focus on Him--how can He use me? What am I willing to lay down in order to be a more effective vessel?

Y'all have a great day.
Hugs!
Susan

Still no video ...

As I was reading Luke 22:3, I started wondering..... when are our wrongful actions attributed to us and when do people say, "Satan made him do it?" How do you know which is our fallible human choices and which is devil-inspired, or is it all the same? Regardless of how it works, I want to be obedient and making the RIGHT choices .. just wondering ....

Morning GIG!

Something Old: "So Judas left at once, going out into the night" John 13:30. Darkness is always where evil lurks. Judas didn't allow Jesus to shine the light on his heart.

Something New: Matt 26:30. "Then they sang a hymn"...don't you wonder what they sang? Oh to be in the presence of Jesus singing!

Nugget: Luke 22:26-27: "the leader should be like a servant...For I am among you as one who serves"...follow Jesus' example of servanthood.

Yay it's Friday!

Good Morning!

One tidbit that caught my eye this morning was that the disciples said "Where do you want us to prepare the Passover meal you?". In reality He was the one preparing it for them (and for us) with His own body.

Thank you Lord Jesus for being the sacrificial Lamb for me!

D

Lord, please wrap Lori and her family and the other family involved in the accident in Your loving arms! May Your presence be so strong to each one to comfort them. May You, God, be glorified through this! In the Mighty name of Jesus. Amen

Sweet Wendy ~ Bless you and thank you, and know you are loved and cherished. All of you sisters. I’m a crying mess. And, ya’ll know I’m not an emotional lady! I now am. I’ve cried 3 nights now, clinging to my packet of copied verses received from loved ones. I wish I could share what God has revealed to me. Daily, I am growing closer to Him, through this trial. I will copy parts of the what He has opened up to me. (BELOW) Each night seems to get worse. I hold it in throughout the day, but lose at night. God knows. Last night He told me to let go of everything and pray for wisdom in how to help Connor. That is what I will be praying today. Wisdom and insight, to have words to say to Connor. Words to speak to my husband. I have God to lean on. It is a nightmare. Girls’ stay in God’s Word – daily. Bless you all. Love, Lori

I have to tell you my 2 revelations yesterday! (1) You know how I’ve been praying for a burden to further his kingdom – I did not know I’d have to go through this to receive it! But, listen- as I walked and cried early this morning, I realized how life in this painful spot is not fun. I was overcome with a strong desire to want the earth to be over-for God’s kingdom to be now! I prayed for the gospel to be reached in all of the lands, so that He would come back, and we would be with Him, where there is know pain/suffering! My concern ~ the urgency of living our lives for God’s glory so that we can point others to Christ.

And, (2) my personality is such –to wake up daily, and complete EVERYTHING on my plate throughout the day. All my little ducks in row, ya know! God showed me that this is not going to be a quick fix-trial. It is not anything I can control. I can’t make it all better. My plate is not going to be empty when I retire each night. It’s full right now and all I can do is “cling!” His grace is sufficient. I can “crawl in and curl up” with Him at any time! Rather than concentrate on my full plate, I must: (Today’s reading) “Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled…..by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth. Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors and stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:34-38.
PS Janet, my mom bought me the book you spoke of yesterday. Hugs!

Yes, sweet Janet, anyone you know can pray. For the first time in my life I missed Bible Study yesterday. I received text’s - entire group prayed powerfully over the two families. The father of the other family is suffering just as much as Connor is. The two are going through the very same thing. He does not know why he rode into the highway. He feels like he killed his daughter. They are an LDS family and have a community surrounding them in love. The community is very forgiving, inspite of the media that can be cruel, not knowing truth. It was a horrific accident, all meant to be. Mormon families have been over nonstop visiting us, putting Connor on their prayer chains, fasting and praying over him, too. We do have a different belief as you are all aware of. I have special Mormon friends that over the years we have teased each other. I am praying to convert them; while, they pray to convert me! But, we do believe one thing: there is power in prayer.

Lori,
Continuing to hold you and your family in prayer. I, too, thought of the book by M. Chapman that Janet suggested. May you experience God's peace in the midst of this storm. ((((((HUGS)))))))

Jodie,
Your mom is probably on her way to Israel now. Praise God!

What caught my attention in today's reading is Judas' betrayal. He walked with Jesus, heard him teach, saw the miracles, even cast out demons in His name, yet.....he did what he did. By all appearances he seemed saved. But Jesus referred to him as the one who was lost. (I posted a longer comment on wendypope.org but that comment vanished. I can't access the blogger site fr my computer because it redirects me automatically to wendypope.org but can do it fr my phone's as a bookmark. Problem is my phone is not good at copying & pasting texts. Anyway I'm just glad to read your comments even on this teeny screen because I need my daily GIGs fix!)
