I am enjoying the beautiful North Carolina mountains, from the inside of a cabin. Now I know that to some of you that sounds crazy, to be inside. I assure you I can see the colorful leaves-the curtains are open, the sun is shining in, and I can watch movies with my BFF while enjoying the view. It is called RELAXING, something that I have to work really hard at doing.
Have I told you lately how much I enjoy serving you each day? I can't wait until we all meet in heaven and really see each other face-to-face.

Hope you are having a wonderful time doing nothing! That is something each of us a women should be required to do! You certainly deserve it girl. Will be thinking of you this week-end Hope you and your BFF have a blast!
You are doing one of my favorite pasttimes....laying around watching movies! It's such a treat for us "Martha" types! That's a good lead in to what I want to post - About Mary. I studied Jon Courson's commentary about Mary pouring the perfume on Jesus and he writes how Mary so got it...she understood even more than his disciples that Jesus' death was not the end! That is why she annointed him when she did and not at his burial...she wasn't one of the women who went to his tomb because she understood..she got it. And the reason she really understood was because where did we always find her in the Bible? At Jesus' feet! She worshipped and listened to Jesus and was at His feet always. A good visual for me to stop being such a "Martha" and do what is more important and worthwhile.

At the beginning of the liturgy on Passion (Palm) Sunday, the entrance in Jerusalem is remembered and made present to us in the proclamation of an account of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem from one of the synoptic Gospels (Mark 11:1-10; Matthew 21:1-11; Luke 19:28-40; or the Gospel account from John may be proclaimed) and in the procession of the assembly with palms branches.
In the Gospel of Matthew, even seemingly insignificant details of Jesus’ life fulfull scripture. After the incarceration of John the Baptist, Matthew reports that Jesus’ relocation to Capernaum, a fishing village of the Galilee, fulfills scripture (4:14-16). And in at least one instance we cannot identify the source of the prophecy Matthew says Jesus fulfills (Matthew 2:23). We even find Matthew’s understanding of Jesus’’ role in the fulfillment of scripture on Jesus’ own lips in this Gospel: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill” (Matthew 5:17).
It has been previously observed that Matthew understands Jesus’ ministry to be the fulfillment of scripture. All four of the New Testament Gospels see Jesus in this way. But Matthew has a characteristic way of informing his readership that something Jesus did or said happened in fulfillment of scripture. In today’s reading, we find a typical example of this verbal formula. Jesus has instructed two of his disciples to go into the nearby village of Bethphage, untie two animals to be found there, and bring them back to Jesus. “This happened,” Matthew writes, “so that what had been spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled: ‘Say to daughter Zion, “Behold, your king comes to you, meek and riding on an ass, and on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.” ‘ “The prophet Matthew has in mind is Zechariah. Zechariah 9:9 supplies the principal image of the victorious ruler seated on an animal. The original historical context of Zechariah 9-14 cannot be determined with any precision. But it is quite likely that this portion of the book was written later and by a different author than the first eight chapters. In any event, the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9-17 concerns the advent of a king of David’s royal line.
If one looks at Matthew’s account of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem next to the other three evangelists’ accounts of the same events (Mark 11:1-11; Luke 19:28-40; John 12:12-19), one finds in Matthew a very interesting and unique feature. Matthew has Jesus sit on two animals while the other three evangelists portray him sitting on one only. What is the reason for this difference, and how does one sit on two pack animals at the same time anyway?
Most biblical scholars would probably call Zechariah 9:9-14 poetry. Among the most basic features of Hebrew poetry is “parallelism.” Rather than relying on rhyming (as in much poetry in English), or on the number and arrangement of vowels in a line (as in ancient Greek and Latin poetry), Hebrew poetry relies to large extent on parallelism. All this means is that the first of a pair of lines expresses an idea or an image that is then taken up and repeated, completed, reflected, inverted, or even interpreted in the second line. To put it another way, parallel lines of Hebrew poetry speak with each other.

In Hebrew, it is pretty clear that Zechariah 9:9 is an example of parallelism. Our Bible translates the text of Zechariah 9:9 directly from the Hebrew. “See, your king shall come to you ; a just savior is he, Meek, and riding on an ass, on a colt, the foal of an ass.” Our Bible’s translation of the Old Testament passage holds that Zechariah was not talking about two different animals any more than he was talking about two different kings.

Today's passage from John (12:32) "And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself." He said this to indicate how he was going to die has been haunting me all day. We killed him! People killed the Son of God in a very hideous way! In all my life it has never hit me this way. Dear Wendy, I have you to thank for that. I am so indebted to you for this study and the spiritual growth it has brought about in me. Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend. You soooooo deserve it.

Hi all - Praying for all requests and that Wendy's weekend is all she deserves- total rest with her BFF. I did vote and saw that the Warriors are back to spot #2 so hopefully with us all voting, they will take the lead and carry it home.
I hear (read) you all talk about Jon Courson's commentary. I have decided that next year I will try to do more participating rather than observing in our studies. I have kept up with the readings and vlogs this year, but my commenting was sporadic at best. If you could advise me on the best commentary and place to purchase I would greatly appreciate it.

Luke 19:41 "But as he came closer to Jerusalem and saw the city ahead, he began to weep." What "city" do I weep over, is it the country I am living in, the state, the town, the community, the family? If I don't weep over it, if I don't pray for it who will? My mother prays everyday for our family. There is comfort in knowing someone is praying for you. In selfish ways, I dread the day she is celebrating in heaven as who then will pray for me daily?

I just want to let you know that it really kills me that a small affluent private school is going to get that Clorox grant to build a fancy sports complex you can already afford when other schools in the contest are struggling just to have a decent playground, period. More than half the students at Collinswood are poor and all we want is a safe place for our kids to play. And we're just a few miles from you guys. I just hope you guys are thinking about what the true Christian thing to do is.
