I am an American Idol fan. Ok, I said it. I watch every season from start to finish. It is one of the only shows left that the entire family can watch. In fact, I may have a future American Idol living in my house. You should hear her sing!
I was not able to watch last night and forgot to set the VCR to tape the program. (No I haven't caught up with the rest the of the technological world and purchased a DVR. One day, one day.) So I missed the entire show. I got to work this morning only to hear about what I missed.
Even if you are not a fan of the show, you will be a fan of what you are about to see. I have to share some scripture with you before you watch. Did you hear that I love His Word? Did you know there is a scripture for everything? Anyway, I thought of this scripture immediately as I watched this youtube video and thought of the millions of people who watched it also. Our Lord, praised, worshiped, and exalted on television in front of millions and millions of people.
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Now, I know every knee did not bow and confess He is Lord but can you imagine what it will be like when that does happen: when we all shout to the Lord, when the mountains bow down, and the seas will roar at the sound of His Voice. Can you hear His Voice? Can you hear the praise? Oh, that it would be soon! A foretaste of glory divine.

Whooooo,hooooo!!!! Man, I missed it too! Well, it's also Master's week at our house and well, even the DVR belongs to my man this week. Every hair on my body (even the stubby ones on my legs) stood up on end! You know what, God is doing a HUGE thing on American Idol this year. Even Dolly Parton gave us all a little kick in the pants last week. Now, just keepin' in real :), be prepared... kind of like the guy that ran out on stage afterwards to do a little 'funny'... the enemy is going to try to cause trouble BUT we KNOW who wins the battle, the battle is the LORDs. Even though I'm way pass 35 years old and I mean way pass, I really liking watching American Idol.
So you got a witness. I saw it, I heard and I couldn't believe it. But it's true,there they were singing praises to the Lord on Fox.
I sure do love those God moments!
I saw it last night! I had TiVo'd it and was posting on my blog while it was on live. I went downstairs to watch it and was so blown away, I had to come back upstairs and post about it on my blog...after I picked my jaw up off the floor (which is the title of my post, actually).
It was moving, it was beautiful, and I thought I would cry. That coming after last week's shows with a couple of the contestants singing Dolly Parton songs with Jesus in them. Then she was on the results show singing her song "Jesus and Gravity" talking about Him being her light and her life.
I am blown away! God is moving. He is awesome, and I am in awe! Man, I love Him!

I had a somewhat different reaction to the song. First...I love the song, and I love the fact that regardless of my reaction, God was getting some praise. To him be all the glory!
But something just didn't feel right to me. It seemed a bit forced and contrived. I can't quite put my finger on it, and I probably won't spend much more time in contemplation over the matter.
Except for this...
Everything about my God is sacred and holy to me. I don't want him to be used to further anyone else's purposes but his own. It's obvious that this moment meant so much for so many people, and as long as it leads them to Jesus...sing away.
I simply am having a perception problem and really need to pinpoint my reasons for pause.

There is something that happens to me when Jesus is praised publicly. It's like a wave of emotion hitting me; a foreshadowing of when every knee will, indeed, bow. Thanks for sharing this. I missed it entirely!
