" David sang this song to the LORD on the day the LORD rescued him from all his enemies and from Saul. He sang:"
2 Samuel 22:1
2 Samuel 22:1
What can I add to this song of David? Nothing. He proclaims freedom from his enemies in 51 beautiful verses. I pulled a few out that drew me to Him.
He opened the heavens and came down.
He shrouded Himself in darkness,
veiling his approach with dense rain clouds.
He drew me.
He rescued me.
He supported me.
He led me.
He restored me.
He rewarded me.
He armed me.
He gave me.
He preserved me.
He shrouded Himself in darkness,
veiling his approach with dense rain clouds.
He drew me.
He rescued me.
He supported me.
He led me.
He restored me.
He rewarded me.
He armed me.
He gave me.
He preserved me.
For this, O LORD, I will praise you among the nations; I will sing praises to your name.
The LORD lives! Praise to my Rock! May God, the Rock of my salvation be exalted!

Our own reflections and words are silenced by His Word at times. You're right, Wendy, nothing could be added to today's reading.
Psalm 18:1 from our reading is my response: "I love you, LORD..."
My love is the only response He desires.
Resting in Him,
Joy
Amen Wendy! What great reading today! The two verses that really stuck out to me were:
Psalm 18:1, "I love you Lord; you are my strength." I have learned that I can not do anything on my own, and even the simplest of things I need Christ working in me daily. I have really been focused on my health this year and for 3 weeks now I have been exercising faithfully. I feel better than I have in so long! My next step I need to add on is drinking enough water. I am really bad about not drinking the water I need. I am praying that God will help me drink what I need to. It is a daily struggle, but I know He can help me do this!
Psalm 18:29, "In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale a wall." With God I can handle all things that this life throws at me! He has proven Himself faithful over and over again and I know that all things that come my way are filtered through Him and He uses them to make me into the woman He wants me to be!
Thank you all for the encouraging words and prayers for my husband. I am praising God that He is working in such obvious ways in our family. I always trusted He was working, and still is, behind the scenes where it might not be so obvious. I am praying the same of those of you that are also in my situation.
Amy Jane, prayers for Paige. May she live her life full of love for the Lord. I started today a month of prayers on my prayer blog for our children based on a book called "Pray Big for Your Child." They are all based on a scripture and from Mark 12:29-30. It is going to be a great month praying through these for our kids and my son!
Hope you all have a wonderful Friday! Off to Lowe's this morning to order flooring and get some paint. We have a huge remodeling project this month for our master bedroom and master bath. I am SO excited about the way it is all coming together!
Praising Him~

What an uplifting post Wendy, to begin this May Day!
I love the promises that God gives us when the enemy attacks. (Psalm 18, verses 3-6 & 16-19)
The enemy seems to have a hay-day with my thoughts! As much as I try to captivate them and turn them over to Christ, the devil is right there looming around me, ready to pounce! I know I'm supposed to honor my mother...sometimes it is just not easy to do! Ironically, she's one of the few "saved" people in our family, so I know the enemy wants to keep the two of us about as far apart as he can! She's a thorn in my side; very self-centered and worries about everything under the sun - it's exasperating and draining at times! [Here, I go with the judgment!] God is so gracious to me; he keeps making the path wide enough under my feet to keep me from slipping into the enemy's hands. [love verse 36!]
God is so good, He whispers to me to say Bible verses over and over...and as I call on the LORD, my mighty God subdues the enemy under my feet [verse 39] Praise the Lord, He is so faithful! I can count on Him every time! I seek forgiveness and I pray daily to be filled with His Spirit, so that God will allow me to feel love towards her. My flesh gets the better of me many times; but, I will say - the closer I seek Him out in this, the more love I feel towards her.
Praise you Lord for rescuing me from the enemy time and time again. Your love for me is unfailing. How I love you today, Oh Lord!
I love verse 29..."with my God I can scale any wall." We've got His power in us, girlfriends! With Christ, we can do all things!
Amen!
Lifting little Paige up in prayer along with the rest of the requests this morning on this beautiful first day of May! ENJOY the beginning of the new month!

Brandee..I just had to pop back in to encourage you to drink water. You will be amazed at the results! I was never a water drinker, but just kept hearing so many people talk about the benefits, so decided to give it a try. This is the best way to do it:
After getting up as soon as you can...{I enjoy my coffee during my quiet time and I can't give this routine up, so I do it during my morning carpool...} but, it has been proven its best to do it right when you get up...
drink 32 oz. w/in a half-hour period. I have 2 containers in the frig. so they are ready to go- it makes it easy to do it then...
Then, drink the other 32. oz. around noon-time...same way-drink it all w/in a 1/2 hour period of time. Ya, drink it & get it over with!
They say if you are trying to loose weight...then drink 32 MORE oz. in the late afternoon.
You'll notice having more energy...plus, I really think your complexion just looks rosier. :)
You'll feel incredibly great!
I'm looking forward to planting some multi-colored flowers today...ones that can survive during the summer heat!
Blessings,
Lori - AZ
PS Unfortunately...drinking water does not take the wrinkles away! :)
Lori in AZ...my heart goes out to you and others who struggle with relationships. I had a similar relationship with my mom as well. I truly believe family is the hardest of all relationships. You can choose your friends but you can't choose your family. We had one of those oil and vinegar relationships...at times she just rubbed my spirit the wrong way. Our spirits clashed. I often would say to God, how can this happen if we are both Christians! However I have come to believe that "life" and the circumstances of life just get in the way of relationships. In my 30's I asked God to be my heavenly parent...I felt a big chasm inside for a parent that loved me, accepted me, approved of me for just who I am...without having to earn it in some way. And so he did fill that chasm. I was filled with His love and acceptance...I no longer felt I needed to earn it from my earthly mom.
However I always turned back to the scriptures that said we are to honor our mother and father. Oh how that scripture convicted me at times and as I pondered it, I would ask does this mean even if the respect is not returned...shouldn't be a relationship of mutual respect. But then would balance it out with the next verse in Ephesians 6:4 "Fathers (mothers) do not exasperate your children, instead bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord." And somehow that would help me to feel it really is a two way street. It doesn't solve or bridge the ongoing day to day, life gets in the way relationship.
At times love is a decision and not a feeling..especially with those people in our lives that are just not so loveable.
I made the decision to love as I took my mother in to live in our home the last 6 months of her life. That's when life stopped getting in the way. It was not easy but I was blessed beyond belief. I claimed the scripture, "I can do all things in Him who gives me strength." And boy did he give me the strength to to the job! Emotionally, Physically, Mentally and Spiritually. I will sing His praises forever!
I just want to share one more thing. As our family gathered in our family room around our mom for communion a few days before she passed away...my sister who lives in a group home came in. She greeted mom with, "Hi mom, how are you? I love ya" and patting her on the arm she said, "You've been a good mom." I believe that touched mom's very soul that day and summed up what we all needed to say. "Mom you were a good mom, the best you knew how to be, in the circumstances in which you lived."
Lori, God knows the desires of your heart. I am so with you and praying alongside of you in your relationship with your mom dear sister in Christ.
It happens when all is stripped away and I simply come before Him. I love this Matt Redman song "The Heart of Worship. Just drink it in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOYhkc4n6Sg&feature=related
Enjoy the Weekend Ladies!

Hi all! Not much to add to your posts...but PRAISE HIM! Amen.
Brandee....go for the H20! I have been a big water drinker for years and love it. Don't get discouraged when you're having to run to the bathroom all the time....your body eventually adjusts...and it's good to flush out anyway! I have water sitting out all day - I've gotten so I prefer my water room temperature. (stop gagging, all of you). Anyhoo...just offering up my encouragement to all of us - me included - to treat our bodies like the temples they are...Jesus resides here - so treat his house right!!

Morgen I love room temperature water! Thanks for all the encouragement about drinking more water. I have to force myself unless I'm really thirsty! I know it is soooo good for your body! I will try harder because of Brandee and all your encouragment!
Here is Michael W. Smith's version of "Heart of Worship" with video and lyrics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeAwBmb_x28&feature=related

Count me in as a room temperature water drinker, too! I have my 32 oz. container on the counter all day. Somehow, it just goes down easier.
Lori, and anyone else struggling with taking those pesky thoughts of ours captive. After finding out Jennifer Rothschild will be at She Speaks, I picked up her book "Self Talk, Soul Talk." In it, she uses the analagy of a closet with old clothes being our minds with old thoughts that aren't really true. She talks about how just as we need to clean out our real closets, we need to do the same with our thought closets. You may enjoy the book. I sure am.
As far as today's reading, I love David's complete trust in the Lord's provision. I want to trust with this type of trust, too.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Oops. I meant analogy!
Thanks you guys for all the encouraging words on the water! Lori, I am also a quiet time coffee drinker, that is one thing I look forward to every morning. I wake up anxious to get up, turn on the coffee pot and get my Bible and prayer journal before the rest of the house is stirring. It will have to be a little later for me too :) The coffee creamer was one reason I had such a hard time with the "no dairy" diet and I kept trying it and then not sticking to it. I have done it for about 3 weeks now and I feel better than I have in a very long time. I tried some Silk soy french vanilla creamer and it is really good. I know adding the water on will just make it better. Joyce Meyer said we need to drink half our body weight a day. I am a very small person, so I am not trying to lose anything, just feel good. I have felt bad for so long that God brought me to the place I was and am willing to do whatever it takes to feel good and not be sick all the time.
Lori and Deb, I will be praying for you in your relationships with your moms. My mom and I have a good relationship and she is a Christian, but when it comes to spiritual things I just find it very, very hard to talk to her. It is hard to explain and can be downright uncomfortable. I have been praying about my relationship with her as far as when do you draw the line in some things. She calls me and talks down about my dad and is very disrespectful. I try to change the subject most of the time, I just don't know how to deal with it and what to say. I admit I have not always been the most respectful of my husband when she gets in those moods and I join in with her. I am making a conscience effort in this area to use my words to build up John and never tear him down!
I just loved how the word says, "the Lord rescued him fom ALL is enemies."
Singing praises to our Rescuer today!!
Girls, You've been encouraging to me this afternoon! Thank you! I love the song, "The Heart of Worship." My son plays in the HS church band and I love listening to him play this song...."it's all about YOU, Jesus!" To keep that in my mind!!!
After reading your comments I've been thinking about my relationship with my mother. I believe God has been whispering to me something. I realized that "I" want to talk about certain things, while "she" wants to talk about "certain things." With friendships, you both spend time talking and listening to each other. But, w/ her, it's alwasy a crisis or a "what if"...Sometimes I just laugh and say, "now, Mom...really!" She will get going about something, and I'm telling you my mouth will just be open-wide! It's like who thinks about these things!
I can't change who she is. I need to spend more time just listening to her. I need to be more interested in her feelings. Rather than change her, [because I can't do that anyway] I need to show love to her! A decision to LOVE...thanks Debbie!
I need to think about how Jesus would talk/listen to her. Thanks for helping me see this from a different light!
I'm going to get Jennifer's book! Thanks Kristen!
Now, warm water you guys! You've got to be kidding! :) heehee~
Love you all,
Lori - AZ
Two things: My Urologist has me drinking 4 20 oz. bottles of water a day. Lots of problems.
2...You better enjoy your relationship with your mom while you can. My mom is 98, has advanced dementia...I have lost the mom I knew. Sometimes I talk to her and she doesn't even know my name, or has the mentality of a 5 yr old. Other times we can talk reasonably well, but her comprehension is gone. She can't even listen to a preacher on TV and understand what he is saying. And it is getting worse every day. She tries to read her Bible, but doesn't understand it anymore. So she goes through and reads the verses she in the past underlined in red.
Take every chance you can get to talk to you mom, give in to her and let her do what she wants. Don't miss a chance to say I love you and give her a hug. There is coming a day when you will no longer have her with you, mentally or physically.
I am going to Tucson AZ next Tues to be with her again for a week...every time I go and leave I wonder if it will be the last time I will see her.
Honor your father and mother that your days will be long.
Jan TN
