There is some good reading this weekend! I love Solomon's prayer for and dedication to the temple. I prefer the reading from Chronicles, especially the part when the Cloud filled the temple. Ooooo it is so good!

My former pastor is coming to preach at our church tomorrow. He was my pastor for over 15 years. Tomorrow will be a great day in the Lord's house!

Out reading today says that only the tablets containing the commandments were in the Ark. Does anyone know what happened to the jar of manna and Aaron's rod that budded that was originally in the Ark? Is this mentioned anywhere else? Just wondering.

Humbled in His Presence...
The grandiose temple was finally finished. The furnishings had been put into place. The ark of the Lord was in the inner sanctuary of the Temple-the Most Holy Place; it was placed beneath the wings of the cherubim. Can you imagine the people… in awe!!! I get goose bumps just thinking about it! “The trumpeters and singers…in unison praising and giving thanks to the LORD…trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments, they raised their voices and praised the LORD with these words: He is good! His faithful love endures forever!" Then, at that moment…the glorious presence of the LORD filled the Temple of God! Solomon raised his arms toward heaven, and began praying the longest recorded prayer in the Bible. What is the wonderful rhetorical question Solomon asks? “How can this temple hold You?” As glorious as this temple was, it could not contain God, even the highest heaven could not contain Him. What an awesome God we serve! He is willing to come and live inside us through His Holy Spirit! Help me Lord to never be full of myself, but rather to be filled with more of You each day. As I read Your Word and pray and live in obedience to Your Will for me, may I feel Your presence.

Just wanted to share about the last couple of days readings and how they relate to parenting.
I went back to read about King David's conversation with Solomon as he prepared him for his future.
1 Chronicles 22 2-19
3-5 "David said, "my son Solomon is still young and inexperienced. And since the Temple is to be built for the Lord, it must be a magnificant structure, famous and glorious throughout the world,I will begin making preparations for it now." So David collected vast amounts of building materials before his death.
He calls for Solomon and shares with him that God foretold that David would be given a son who will be a man of peace. And that God will give him peace with his enemies and that his name shall be Solomon. He will build the temple. 10 "He will be my son, and I will be his father. And I will secure the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever."
(Wow! that's quite a purpose.)
David goes on to bless Solomon with these words: "Now my son, may the Lord be with you and give you success as you follow his directions in building the temple of the Lord your God.
And may the Lord give you wisdom and understanding, (just what Solomon asked the Lord for in this week's readings.) that you may obey the law of the Lord your God as you rule over Israel. For you will be successful if you carefully obey the decrees and regulations that the Lord gave to Israel through Moses. Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or lose heart!"
He then goes on to instruct all the leaders of Israel to assist Solomon in the temple project. Telling them all to "seek the Lord your God with all your heart and soul."
Through David the Lord has paved the way for Solomon to begin. The Lord handed over the surrounding nations to David. It will be a time of peace so that the Temple of the Lord can be completed without interruption or other distractions. The Lord and the ark will finally have a permanant home instead of a tent.
It just reminded me of how we are to prepare our children for their future with the Lord's help and direction...giving them the "tools and materials" they will need to survive/succeed in the outside world. Laying a foundation, so to speak, for them to build upon.
I love the idea of giving a blessing to each of our children. As David so eloquently blessed Solomon..."...may the Lord be with you and give you success as you follow his directions...and may the Lord give you wisdom and understanding, that you may obey the Law of the Lord. Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or lose heart!"
I like to put Proverbs 3:5&6 in Graduation Cards.

I too have wondered the same thing.
I like the picture of Solomon kneeling, raising his hands toward heaven and praying that prayer. Powerful.

Hi all,
For the past two weeks I have been swamped at work with trying to settle matters before I go off on my eight week sick leave, but I have been keeping up with my readings.
Just a little comment on yesterday's reading...........just as there was careful planning,distinct detailing and dressing of the temple in preparation for the the Ark of the Covenant to reside; so are we to be just as maticulous with the preparation and maintenance of our temples (bodies) for this is the place where our present day 'Ark' resides (Jesus Christ)!
Diane, thanks so much for remembering, even as you are in the midst of your own battles...may God's peace be with you through it all. I have to be at the hospital at 8:30 am EST on Monday for admittance and my procedure is to start shortly thereafter.
'Lord your power is unlimited. Thank you that you rise up with healing for those who fear Your name. Be merciful to me for my soul trusts in You. In the shadow of your wings I will make my refuge until these calamities have passed by.'
Continue to pray for me as I pray for the group, and watch God change things!!

It is late girls, but I wanted to leave a quick note.
First Chanan, dear sister I am praying for you and will at 8:30 Monday a.m. It is a an honor to take you to the Father in prayer.
I have a very odd request and prayer. Without too much detail. As much as I want to share more, it isn't possible right now. I am finding that in my world there is no safe place. The things that are taken for granted as private and personal, are not so in my life.
I know there are many praying for me and who care.
With this in mind, when responding to me in a blog, or post that is open to anyone, please keep this in mind. Remember that sometimes ANYONE can get a hold of anything.
Even what is meant for good can be used for evil.
I feel as though I have talked in secret code. I have and pray that you understand, but am stuck and don't know what else to do.
Praying you understand and I am not going anywhere.

Good Sunday Morning,
Just got done reading today's passages and I wanted to share that I have really loved what we have read this weekend. God really placed some things on my heart about how we can also be given over to our own enemies and it takes us crying out to Him from captivity to be released from those pits. Sometimes God allows things into our lives so that we will come back to Him and turn from our sinful ways.
Prayers for you Chanan and Diane and everyone on here. Hope you have a blessed Memorial Day weekend. DH is putting down bamboo hardwood in our bedroom this weekend. It is gorgeous!

Thank you dear Lord for your Word that we can cling to. We praise you this morning for all of our sufferings and trials that are placed in front of each one of us. Through these sufferings we lean towards you. Guide us and show us each step of the way. Thank you Father for never forsaking us and for holding on tight to us even when we are about to let go. You are our God, the one and only. The God of wonder. The God of infinite mystery. The God of love. You lead us. You heal us. You renew us. You refresh us. You direct us. You disclose to us what we need to know. You enlighten us. You teach us, even when we are asleep! You, dear Lord are always with us! Our precious, Grand, and Dear Father You are everything we need today and tomorrow and always! We love you with all of our hearts.
Amen.
