Hi Everyone!
Soggy and sickly describe the weekend. We are having more rain in the Charlotte area this weekend. I am fighting off some kind of "bug." It jumped on me yesterday. Yukk! So needless to say, I will planted at home for the day and possible the entire weekend.
I wanted to ask you to be in prayer for Encouragement for Today on Tuesday, November 3. We have decided to run, with some revisions, my Read Through The Word devotion. (I mentioned it to you already.) We want to pray for the Spirit to move in the words the Lord wrote to prompt people to commit to read the Bible in 2010. Please pray that all the links work and that there are no technical problems. Last year over 1400 people responded to the "challenge." We are not looking at numbers. We are looking for lives to be changed by the power of God's Word. You all are testimonies to the power of God's Word.
I prayed for you all today. Praise the Lord for you and asking Him to bless you beyond measure for your faithfulness to the commitment you made one year ago.

Good Morning, Wendy!
This week, our school was closed due to absences caused by the flu. So far, my family hasn't had to experience it and I pray you will fight it off, too.
Last year, I found the "Read Through The Word" challenage while crusing through the net. I am so thankful for His leading and will be in prayer with you and the rest of us for others to find this life changing challenge. My life has grown richer...fuller...and closer in my relationship with Christ. I am thankful for this wonderful ministry and look forward to whatever He has in store for next year.
The sun has finally come out here in Missouri. We've had only a few days of sun in the month of October. It's amazing how wonderful the sun (or the Son) can make you feel.
Thank you for your prayers today. I will be praying for you, as well as everyone else in the group.

Wendy, I'm praying that, that bug just jumps right off of you! Rest in Him as much as you can until you get your strength back...sun..oh my, is it sunny here in AZ. Today, I'm going to have to be extra thankful for the sun that I just take for granted. We had a couple days of cool weather and it was divine. I actually could put on a turtle neck! Today it's back in the 80's and I'm NOT complaining...
I will continue to pray that God draws those of His desire to read your post on Tuesday. He drew me last year and I've been thankful to Him every day since.
We sang a song last Sunday in church that has been on my mind all week, "Oh, Happy Day..." and every time it comes to my mind, I think of your family today, dear Joy! What a happy day it will be to bring daddy home! You've been in my prayers.

Today's reading was very good. i was so touched by many of the verses...A couple in particular:
John 17:20 & 21-So, so, so long ago Jesus was interceding for all of us, His followers. We were on His mind that moment way back then when the Lord prayed for us! He was getting ready to lay His life in order to provide forgiveness for our sins. And, today and every day He "intercedes" for you and I. Thank you Jesus that even way back then, You were already praying for me!

Raining and no sun here in VA today. Wendy, praying the bug jumps off into the trash can and not on anyone else in the house. Take care of yourself and just rest my friend.
I will be praying about the devotion and study Wendy. It has been such a wonderful study tool for me and a way to connect with others who are studying the word. I love the way it is broken down to help me gain different insights.
I have got to share this with you because it is a direct result of two sisters connecting on this very blog. Sit down because you will get God bumps.
Many of you know one of our sister's has been suffering with cancer. Read back last week where she was going through some things related and the events leading up to this.
I received an email yesterday from her and everything went well. A couple of us asked for her address so we could send encouragement, due to the computer situation.
I live near Richmond, Virginia. Guess where She lives?
About 1 hour away from me, it that God or what? Turns out she will be coming here everyday next week all day for radiation treatments. She will be dropped off and may have company a day or two, but mostly be alone. What a chance to love on a sister!
I pray that God use me in anyway possible to be a blessing.

I just told my girlfriend yesterday that accepting your invitation to read through the Bible in a year was the best thing I ever did (after accepting Jesus and marrying my hubs). I am already working on my end-of-year post about it! Woo Hoo!

Sun was off and on in Basel today. the Herbstmesse or "Fall Festival" is in full swing. It started on October 23 this year and goes until November 1 or 10 depending on what aspect you are interested in. Here are some pictures of the festival in Basel:

Diane, thank you for your post. Give that sister a big hug for me when you see her! I am sure your ministry to her (even in the small things) will mean enormous things to her! I am with you all in spirit!
Wendy, I am praying for next year. I can't say enough about this journey and what it has meant to me! I pray that the Lord will work His purpose in and through us in these difficult times.

Good Morning all,
“My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” This line jumped out at me this morning, followed immediately by:
“Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour? Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!”
They fell asleep; even when Jesus told them He was crushed in spirit to the point of death! How often have I abandoned my savior? How often have I fallen asleep (figuratively and literally) when I should have been watching and praying? When I should have been watching so I did not fall into temptation? Too often I am afraid.
Too often I have been focused on myself and praying selfish prayers, not looking beyond myself to the things that are important to Jesus; the things that trouble Him in spirit even to the point of death. These things are still there; lack of love for our neighbor; religious leaders who are more interested in their "pomp," "show," and tailoring the message to a point of "acceptability" rather than sharing the authentic good news; the poor are still with us; nations are at war; and we still deny knowing Jesus. I personally still fall too easily into temptations that appeal to me; my pride, my self-sufficiency, believing my own press.
I need to look beyond my circumstances and stay awake while I watch with Him who gave His life for me.
Forgive me Lord, for falling so often asleep.

also raining here in PA.... oh well...we've got the Son!
last night instead of trick or treating, we took the girls to a night of worship with Michael W. Smith.... WOW!! it was sooo fantastic, and the girls and my husband (who have never been to such an event and didn't know what to expect) LOVED it!!! the praise and worship was soooo powerful, and to see my beautiful family enjoying and participating and singing and worshiping God was an amazing moment ... thank You, God!
also to comment on our sister with breast ca, from richmond...God surely blessed her by sending her to diane's neck of the woods for some love and encouragement!!! diane, you are a great intercessor and encourager, and God sure knew what He was doing by placing you together at such a time as this! add my hugs to the mix... my mother in law had similar treatment 2 years ago, and it really is a miracle! it takes what used to be 6weeks of external radiation, and turns it into a week of twice a day therapy internally.... it is a miracle!! she went from diagnosis, surgery, radiation, to playing golf within a month!!! my prayers for you sister...
this morning we are off to nutcracker practice with my 2 lovely snowflake princesses!! am praising God (as ALWAYS!), as you may recall 7 months ago my tess had an ankle fracture, and now will be dancing her toes off in this year's production!! better than ever, with a SOLO!! God is good all the time!
loving our year's journey together. doing this has made me a better person. i can't wait to do it again in 2010... thanks for the fellowship!

I have read through the bible before & have been blessed. However when my sisters told me about this challenge they were going to do; reading 'The One Year Chronological Bible' I thought good for them & forgot about it. As the year 2009 opened, my Lord picked at my heart that I needed to have my questions answered. Praise Jesus for He has answered SO many of my questions through this reading of the bible in chronological order. Wendy your insights to God's Word have been so valuable & such a blessing. Good Beautiful Morning Sisters,
After long periods of rain, as many of you have had as well, I woke up to a gorgeous sunrise this morning! Praising our Lord for the sun today. I was so drawn to it I took some pictures and posted on my blog this morning. They are what I see when I look out my kitchen window. God just drew me to Him first thing when I got up today and I am fully anticipating our service this morning. We are doing a special communion service. My family has missed alot of church lately due to illness and I am so excited to go to worship with my church family this morning I can hardly stand it! I know God's presence is going to fill that place in amazing ways.
Wendy I will be praying as this devotion goes out on Tuesday. This journey has blessed my life so much. I understand His Word as a whole more than I ever have and the blessings of all you sisters is beyond what I can really say. To be able to meet sisters in Christ that are passionate for Him and seeking Him daily that I would never have met if it was not for this blog and journey through the Word. Thank you Wendy for your devotion to God and to us.
The passages this weekend on the Holy Spirit have had my focus. They are the same ones I have been reading through my Beth study this week. I am understanding the Trinity in ways I have not before and it is so neat because I was able to have a great conversation with Will last night about it.
Lord, may I be filled with You today. May my words be Your words, my thoughts be Your thoughts, my actions by Your actions. May You fill every piece of my heart, conscious mind and subconscious mind. May the delight of my heart be You and only You!

PS Prayers and Hugs Wendy that you are feeling better. I understand what you are feeling, my family keeps passing something back and forth. John has it again. I think it is time he goes to the doctor, it is going on a month now he has been congested and feeling bad :(
Wendy, praying that today has found you feeling better. I was 'down and out' for a few days about two weeks ago, so I empathize with you. Praying the Lord will strengthen you, body, soul, mind and spirit.
Also praying for the devo that will be running. So encouraging to read all those testimonials. WOW! The Lord has done/is doing some amazing things as hearts have sought after Him this past year. What a blessing.
Yesterday was just a perfect day from start to finish with my family. We picked Dad up from the hospital at 10am and had the happiest day. We took him out to a little Tea Room for scones and tea at noon, then enjoyed a fun afternoon which culminated at my sister's for turkey dinner and a time of praise and celebration. (For any of you who want to see pics from the day, I did post some on my blog, but all are on Facebook. I felt so many of you were celebrating with us yesterday...I wish you could have all shared in our day.) It's been an incredible journey. A friend sent me this quote this morning, “We can only appreciate the miracle of a sunrise if we have waited in the darkness” Anon. Oh, what a glorious sunrise we experienced. Still basking in His glow.

Summoned, and now standing before the high priest, Christ is questioned concerning His teaching. His identity opposed by priests and temple officials. Men who were familiar with the Scriptures, but unfamiliar with the Savior. They knew the truth, but missed the One who was the Truth.
How often have I failed to see Jesus? Failed to hear Him speak to me in His Word? Have I raised a hand against Him by my actions or words? Touch is not the only way to slap a face. Ignoring His voice. Disobedience. Insult. Neglect. Pride. Each of these cause greater pain and leave a sting.
There in religious chambers, behind sacred walls, hostility raged.
Today as we enter holy halls of worship, lets honour Him with a tender touch. How could your hand reach his heart with love? Would it be through a step of faith? An act of surrender? A humble confession? Forgiveness sought or received? May the actions of the Temple guard act as a slap in our face to get our attention and awaken us to the ways we are mistreating our Savior.

I, too was struck by the slap on Jesus' face. The first of many blows. I had to put my Bible down. This broke my heart.
The days ahead will be tough reading for us but we also know "the rest of the story."
Thanks for your prayers ya'll. I am feeling better and hope the next two days will bring me back to good health. It has been pretty miserable.
