"When Jesus had finished saying these things, He left Galilee and went into the region of Judea to the other side of the Jordan. Large crowds followed Him there and He healed their sick." Matthew 19:1-2
How many of us would help someone we knew was going to betray us? I am so thankful that God does not let me see into the future of my life. A glimpse into my future would have a great effect on how I acted in the present. This was not a problem for Jesus.
Commentaries tell us that "when Jesus finished" and left Galilee it was for good. He would not return until after His death and resurrection. He was fully man, remember. He was heading up to Judea across the Jordan knowing full well what was awaiting Him there. He was not traveling alone. He was traveling with a crowd. He was fully God, remember. He knew the people in this crowd, the ones who left their homes and jobs to follow Him would betray Him. And yet...scripture tells us He healed them.
What a powerful message Jesus is teaching us? Do what you know to do regardless the circumstances. This isn't always easy. For our Christ, by doing the thing He knew to do lead Him to Calvary. Walking the road to our "Calvary" isn't easy but dying to self is what we are supposed to do, regardless of our circumstances.

I too am very glad I can't see what's coming. I know there have been times in my life that I have avoided things only to find out they would have benefited me. (Peas and Broccoli as a child - ha ha)
A thought for me to ponder today would be - Have I given up everything to follow Him. Do I really have Him as my 1st Best Treasure. It never hurts to double check.

He healed those He knew would betray Him. Powerful thought. How am I with those who hurt me? Do I still desire God's best for them? Would I go out of my way to minister to them, especially if I knew in 'healing' them they would use their strength to wound me? I want to say that I would...but that's hard. Some things are "impossible" for us, in our own strength, but not with God's power enabling us.
My focus today was on that familiar verse, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God." Mark 10:27
This verse came alive to me yesterday. Friends, these are not just words on a page written years ago, but God's Word is living and active (Hebrews 4:12). His Word is true and His promises sure. Absolutely NOTHING is impossible with God.
Where do you need to trust Him today? What mountain is standing in your way? The words "impossible" and "can't" are not part of God's vocabulary. My God is ABLE. My God sees endless possibilities. There is nothing too hard for God. He sees the unseen. Nothing catches Him by surprise. Luke 18:27 puts it this way, "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God."
Don't question His ability today. Where we are weak, He is strong. Where we doubt, He gives direction. Where we fear, He offers faith. Where we are empty, He longs to supply. He is fully aware of our situation and the answer is on the way. Although we may not see it, it's there - trust God!

Wow, Wendy, I never read it that way; to think that He knew his future! It's almost too hard to comprehend, but as I think of my children, and how much I love and care for them. Our Father created us in His own image. He reaches beyond Himself because it is just who He is. His character is perfect. He loves and He cares. And He gives. Oh, to be like Him! As you and I take on His character more and more, we will also be able to reach out beyond ourselves, to clearly show those around us what He is to us.
He has commissioned us to LOVE, regardless of the circumstances. LOVE. Will we obey Him today, and love those around us? Only by being filled with his powerful Holy Spirit is this humanly possible! "Humanly speaking, it is impossible, But not with God. Everything is possible with God," Mark 10: 27.
"Humanly speaking, it is impossible, But with God everything is possible," Matthew 19:26. & "What is impossible for people is possible with God," Luke 18:27. Three times He reminds us today that we can do it through Him. With Him we can do all things! Enjoy the day loving those around you! :) Lori - AZ

What a power message in today's reading! Imagine when we left home this morning it would be "for good." We knew it as we headed out the door. I wonder if I would live my day any different.
Would I say something different to my loved ones?
Would I take that extra minute to get my affairs in order?
Would that be the morning I overslept and missed my time with Jesus?
Would this be the day that I decided to die to self because I knew that was I was not coming home?
I loved how you put it Wendy, "do what you know to do regardless the circumstances." Isn't that what we are teaching our children?
I have always told my children
"situations and circumstances don't make you who you are, they reveal who you are."
All of us have a tough road. It isn't an easy path, sometimes it is plain dusty and dirty. But then Jesus never said it would be easy. He did say that we wouldn't be alone.
I know over the past year there have been times I didn't want to trust the enemy. But with God's grace and mercy He allowed me to not only trust but pray for them as well. It was a choice I had to make.
I am praying for you ladies today where ever you may be. May the Lord bless you with His mighty love and help each one of you to continue walking your road to "Calvary" with Him.
