PTL for baby Gabriel's test coming back clear. Our God is an awesome God. I'm still believing that God can give me my sight back. I know God can restore sight I never had and I don't want to put any limits on him but I'll be happy with the sight I had as a child. I was born visually impaired but I could see well enough to do what the other kids in the neighborhood did. The sad thing is that I don't think my dad believes in healing. He keeps talking about me getting my sight when I get to heaven.
I did not realize that Daniel's name Belteshazzar was named for a god.
I really need to get to bed. My dad is going to wake me up at 5:15 in the morning because we are leaving at 6 a.m. to go to New Port News, VA for my cousin's wedding. He wants to leave that early so we don't get caught in holiday traffic. Our hotel room won't be ready until 4 p.m. He seems to think it will take six hours to get there. I don't think it will take that long. When we went to Bald Head Island in N.C. last week, across from Cape Fear for those of you who know where there that is, it took us 8 hours and New Port News, VA is much closer. Keep me in your prayers. I'll be sharing a room with my dad like I had to do last week and I'm not real comfortable with this.
I noticed the meaning of Daniel's 'name,' too. How awful!
I mostly just had questions from today. I've read that modern Iraq holds King Neb. up as a hero. What do they think of his change of heart?
How does this second Temple differ physically from the first? (I can answer this one with some back reading, but want to be sure to get comments from today.) I found it interesting that the measurements could be 'updated' with such seeming ease. As they prepare to build the Third Temple, what measurements will they use? What is used in Israel today?
How did Ezekiel remember all of those numbers? It amazes me to think of him, waking up and heading out to tell people that he'd flown to Jerusalem the night before and watched a shiny angel with a measuring stick plan the new Temple and that they should get busy. Who did he tell? Who listened to him? After all of the 'crazy' things God had him do, who takes him seriously? What a job! Again, I'm very happy with just being a mom and baby-keeper. I guess this means that our influence can be very far reaching - not just when we're all polished and fancy, but even when we're worn out and yicky; we're giving someone an impression of us and Who we represent. I want it to be a good one!
Jennifer, I hope you are able to stay out of the rain while you're there on the coast! I think it's funny that Wendy's experiencing effects from the storm and we aren't, even though we live between Charlotte and the coast. Weird, huh?
Brayden's Canadian grandparents are in town so for today it's just Luke and I, which is good because he got a fever last night. I think we'll be laying low today! Thanks for your prayers for Brayden's sleeping habits and his family. That means a lot!

Thank you sweet Wendy, for (again) giving me more to think of! Soon, as I’m done with my post, I’ll head on in to the kitchen to get a toothpick! I can think of one area in particular –my teenagers! Oh, how they can be my focus, my idol – God can fill that hole! He is being graceful with me, helping me inch by inch.

Ezekiel, not too long after the vision of the dry bones, he receives another vision! This vision has him looking into the future: his eyes view a glorious Temple, far more extraordinary than the Temple built by Solomon. (Amy -good questions, your mind is way more inquisitive than mind, sweetie!)

My New:
King Nebechandnezzar was full of himself - a proud and selfish fellow – a boastful man! The earthly treasures blinded him from God’s Word. If we are lured away from God, there is a gap for the enemy to get in. We have be watchful of what our “eyes” see. Like Wendy said yesterday, our eyes can get us in trouble, they can create distances between us and our Father – which can eventually lead to destruction.
My To Do:
“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (I John 2:15). Satan would love to keep us busy doing “things” – things that draw us away from God’s will for us. What’s a gig to do? Te begin anew each morning: replenish our minds with God’s Word. Read scriptures again. Morning after morning, year after year, consistently, we must wake up and rejunvenate ourselves all over again. We can not count on yesterday’s quiet to get us through! Thank you dear Lord, day-by-day, your Word renews us and fills us up to the brim!

I noticed something today that goes along with the idea of not taking pleasure in the death of wicked people that we read about 2 days ago.
When Daniel realized the brevity of Neb's dream...he had tenderness and concern in his heart for this man. Instead of thinking, "yes..you finally are getting what you deserve"..Daniel had love in his heart. A good lesson for me to learn.
Also...Pride comes before the fall. Here we see that it is because of Neb's pride that God was teaching him a lesson. I need to check my pride each and everyday.

I've been stopping by your blog every now and then to tune in. I'm on a different reading schedule than you, but I like to sometimes get a little more God so I visit you. It is interesting that the verse today is from Daniel 4. Just yesterday I was listening to the cd of Angela Thomas from She Speaks. She also talked about what is said in Daniel 4 about God being sovereign. I guess God is trying to tell me something.
Also, I have a blog. Today I have featured you on my post. I have posted a link to your blog so people can find you. I'm hoping some of my friends become fans like me.

Yes, I have had to "pick some grass out of my teeth" and being me, will probably have to again. But, isn't it interesting to note, that God doesn't waste anything. The time in the wilderness, the time eating grass has a reason to it- so that we may acknowledge Him and grow in our faith.

Today's reading and vlog made me think about our country's leaders past,present and future. May our future leaders have God in the center of their lives, hearts and minds, even if they can't openly proclaim it as much as we would like. When I was listening to the opening addresses at school yesterday (three of them!) I was so wishing that we could begin our year honoring God and praying. I salute those of you who go to the financial sacrifice of sending your children to Christian schools where you can honor God and pray!

Lori, what you said regarding the eye caught my attention. Our "eyes" get us in trouble and so do our "I's" in the form of selfishness and pride. (I thought all I could get from today's reading is that this is the only portion of scripture written by a Gentile.)

I have been humbled by God in the past and He was so gracious He gave me almost a Year to do what I was suppose to do and my stronghold was FEAR. I was so tightly held by Fear that it kept me from growing in faith and growing closer to HIM. Ladies and Gentlemen please do not let FEAR keep you from what HE wants you to do. Even if it is to post on this blog and acknowledge HIM.
Thank You Lord for breaking that stronghold in my life. Praise you!

Good thing two opportunities came up this week to serve the poor--a homeless meal and the packaging of meals for Haiti again.
I have been busy with the new job--that first week was a blur with getting used to being full-time again and learning so much all at once. Plus my pain was bad last week on top of it all! But we had a great week overall, and I have kept up with the readings and vlogs and blogs.
I love the fellowship here. It makes the reading so much more fun to do it together!
