A Day Of Prayer
Update as of 3:23pm
Lauren is out of surgery and it was a success. Thanks for your prayers and continued prayers.

I want to interrupt today's normal post (and will post more later) to focus our attention on a very special young girl who is going through life changing surgery today.

Lauren Blight, the daughter of one of my dearest friends, Wendy Blight, is having spinal fusion surgery today to correct scoliosis. Lauren is an active 16 year old young woman. She was diagnosed with scoliosis several years ago. Despite therapy and treatment her spine continued to worsen thus resulting in today's surgery.

Please pray for Monty, Wendy, Lauren, and Bo Blight. Please pray for all medical staff treating and caring for her. Please pray for her pain to be minimal.

Thank you dear friends!

1 Peter 2:4
You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God's temple.

He is our cornerstone. A cornerstone is something that is essential, indispensable, or basic, the chief foundation on which something is constructed or developed. Our Christ is living...is essential...is indispensable.

1 Peter 1:2 - God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy.

God the Father knew me long ago. El Roi; God who sees me. (Genesis 16:13)

God who knows everything about me, my past, my present circumstances, and what I will do in the future, (Psalm 33:13-15)

God who numbers the hairs on my head. (Matthew 10:30, Luke 12:6-7).

He refines me like gold and He rescues me and defends me. My soul magnifies His holy name! (1 Peter 1:7, Psalm 91:14-15),Luke 1:46)

Thanks be to El Roi!

Lifting up Lauren Blight to our Heavenly Father now in prayer. Our Father who loves and cares for her dearly, is with her right at this moment. Jehovah-shammah, (The LORD Is There) He is watching over every detail. Psalm 9:10, "And those who know Thy name will put their trust in Thee; for Thou, O LORD, hast not forsaken those who seek The."

Jehovah-rapha, (The Lord who heals), is also over-seeing Lauren at the moment. Dear Lord, we want your will in this situation as you, Father know what is best for Lauren. Only you can see her tomorrow's. We pray that your healing hands can work through the surgeon today and that your power will be shown and Glory will be given to you alone. Thank you that you are with this precious family. Amen.

Just read this same request on two other blogs before coming here. Lauren is a beautiful young lady. Praying for her, knowing that the great Physician "is the same yesterday, today, and forever" (Heb.13:8) Praying that He will equip the Blight family with all they need, and produce in them, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to Him (Heb 13:21) May He give them more and more grace and peace as they travel this day (1 Peter 1:2) May they live with great expectation of all the Lord is going to do (1 Peter 1:3) May they know that through their faith, God is protecting them by His power (1 Peter 1:5) His Word today says, "When your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world." 1 Peter 1:7 May they be a wonderful testimony and witness for the Lord before everyone God places within their circle of contact during these days. May they experience His presence, peace and power. Trusting His Hand to be holding them all through each step, every hour and every minute.

Praying,
Joy

Have lifted this family up in my prayers this morning. Thanks for sharing. God tells us that where 2 or 3 gather in His name, he will be there also. May our prayers increase our faith!

Also, got my new chronological Bible this weekend! I was going to wait for Christmas, but someone gave us a gift card to for our local Bible-Book Store and Hubs said go ahead! Woot-woot! Looking forward to your/our study for 2010!!!

Praying God's healing, comfort and restoration for the Blight family...for God to wrap them all in his arms as Lauren undergoes this surgery. May he gently and expertly guide the hands of the physicians, the hearts and souls of the nurses that Lauren will have better than the best of care.

We pray for the Blights today through Christ who lives in us, trusting our earthly bodies to him who loves us, and gave himself for us. (Galatians 2:20)

We know the Lord is good. His faithulness continues to each generation. (Psalm 100)

We bring these prayers to you Father God with the confident hope that you hear our pleas on behalf of your servants the Blights. We pray all this through your precious son Jesus' name. Amen!

I have been away for the computer all day. When I saw Lauren's update I just praise God for the successful surgery. This was such a huge decision for the family. If they keep her ahead on her meds she should have minimum pain tonight. It sounds like she has some watchful angels surrounding her.
Prayers are going up to Wendy, Bo and Monty.
If you need to put a face with her name, I would encourage you to go to Wendy's blog. I know I seem to connect better when I have a face with a name.
How wonderful that we can be there for one another! Amen.
Diane

I have had spinal fusion surgery. What a blessing this is, to be able to walk normally and not to have all that pain anymore. I praise God that she will have the same results and recovery goes well for her. It takes whatever time it takes, but the results are amazing. Praise God for that.
