"When I raise my powerful hand and bring out the Israelites the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD." Exodus 7:5
My Take-Aways:
Something Old:
Exodus 5:22b
Why did you send me?
Even when we obey the Lord the path is not always smooth.
One more:
Exodus 7:5
God want the Egyptians to know He was the Lord. The Lord want to use my life to show others He is Lord.
Something New:
Exodus 4:25
I did not realize Zipporah circumcised their son.
Something to Do:
Remember that God does not forget His people or His promises to them.

Jan in TN, thank you for your list yesterday! I copied it into my journal. It is certainly something to think about further!
I wanted to dig a little deeper into your "did not know" Wendy, Exodus 4:24-26.
Last year I had written "why?" in the margins next to verse 24.
24 On the way to Egypt, at a place where Moses and his family had stopped for the night, the Lord confronted him and was about to KILL him.
David Guzik, in his commentary on this passage, provides this explanation:
a. The Lord met him and sought to kill him: This is a mysterious event; but it seems that God is confronting Moses - in the strongest possible way - because Moses had not circumcised his son. God demands that this be set right before Moses enter Egypt and begin to fulfill the call of God.
i. There is often a point of confrontation in the life of the leader where God demands that they lay aside some area of compromise, and will not allow them to progress further until they do.
Remember this is Abraham's part of the covenant; described in Genesis 17:12-14 (NIV)
12 For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised, including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner—those who are not your offspring. 13 Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised. My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant. 14 Any uncircumcised male, who has not been circumcised in the flesh, will be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant."
Moses' son was "to be cut off" from God's chosen people because of this sin.
Matthew Henry also points out the sin of Moses and the likely cause being his marriage to Zipporah who did not share the covenant relationship with God that Moses did, being a Midianite.
God has disabled Moses in the struggle and he cannot circumcise his son. Zipporah must do it. I like Henry's analysis of the words of Zipporah:
"in this case of necessity, Zipporah does it, whether with passionate words (expressing her dislike of the ordinance itself, or at least the administration of it to so young a child, and in a journey), as to me it seems, or with proper words—solemnly expressing the espousal of the child to God by the covenant of circumcision (as some read it) or her thankfulness to God for sparing her husband, giving him a new life, and thereby giving her, as it were, a new marriage to him, upon her circumcising her son".
God took this opportunity, on the way to Egypt, to seal the covenant with Moses AND Zipporah. He made sure that Moses was in right standing with Him before he faced the challenges ahead. He made sure that Zipporah was also obediant to the call, as it was going to be very difficult for Moses. I think God joined these two together both in marriage and in this episode so they could be strong together; of one mind, and mutually dedicated.
Be blesssed today.

Thank-you, Wendy, for being obident to the calling God has given you. You asked us to comment on how we are doing with obidence. It's really a "God-thing", I believe, that the Bible Study we are in at church (Anointed, Transformed, and Redeemed; A Study of David) and our daily readings often connect in a powerful way.
To be obident, we must know the voice of God. Henry Blackaby says we must know it so we can immediately obey His commands and His direction. Sometimes, I wonder if it's God's will or my will and I have trouble discerning the difference. What I have found it that if my relationship with God was better, I'd know His voice.
That is really my goal; to build my relationship with "My God" so that I may know Him . . . that I will know His voice and that I will be able to immediately obey Him.
Karen, I am so glad you commented on vs 24. I also wanted to know more. Your explanation resembled what my heart was telling me. Yet, I still have another question.
vs 20 "So Moses took his wife and "sons", put them on a donkey, and headed back to the land of Egypt. Zipporah "circumcised her son" vs 25 Did Moses have only one son that wasn't circumcised?
This question may not matter, maybe it was simply not important, yet I wonder why.
Have a wonderful day. This is our Monday, as we are finally back to school after our 8 inch snowfall last Friday.
Nancy
Good Morning-
Karen, you and I did it again, I looked up those scriptures also in Davids commentary, how funny is that. I also looked up the ones right before those...(4:21-23)
My in a new way: Exodus 4:21-23 Especially 22 Then you will tell him: This is what the Lord says: Israel is my first born son".
I really saw this either for the 1st time or in such a different light. Knowing these are the descendant's from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Israel) they are the Israelite's, Gods Chosen but seeing today (new revelation) how God calls them His First Born. Yes Israel is Gods chosen, but they are only His first born... Isn't i nice to know that when we are born again we are born into his Kingdom as equal heirs. They are not greater, only the 1st born. God doesn't play favorites.
Sometimes you can know all these things, however sometimes it drops into your heart and spirit in a whole new way.
Thanks for letting me share.
Have a great day.
Lynn- OR
PS how am I at obedience... probably like everyone else, it depends on how much it stretches me on how eager I am to agree, but I do obey God eventually. I just sometimes do the "Are you sure?" "Is that really you?"
Have a great day!
Lynn - OR
Obedience - less of me; more of God. Laying down my way of doing things and trusting in One Who has a better way. This is not easy, but it is best. How do I do? Depends on the day I guess. Some days I'm as stubborn as a mule and don't want to obey God at all. Those are the days that feel "yucky" to me. When I surrender to His will, those are the days that feel "right". He's shown me over and over that obedience to Him is the answer. Forgive me Lord for my disobedience.
Karen - thank you for that commentary...I had that passage underlined from last year with a question mark. And Nancy, I was going to ask the same thing; how about the other son/sons? Were they already circumsized?
A new thing: When Aaron threw down his staff it became a "serpent". In the help read at the bottom of the page the word "serpent" refers to "sea monster" or "dragon". Now picture that! Not a slithering snake, but a huge beast! That would get my attention!
Nugget: Obey God. Not easy, but best.
Morgen
Thank you Wendy-you touched upon a verse that God opened up to me also this morning, and you girls that have already commented...thank you! You have given me more to chew on. Loved that list (yesterday) Jan, by the way!
I hope to have time to comment later on, but now I'm running a bit late!
Oh yes, to answer your question Wendy, (the obedient student that I am! ha-ha) It seems more and more that when I hear God's voice and I know it's Him-I'm afraid not to obey! I want to know Him so much, and I'm willing to do whatever he asks of me. Sometimes I'm not sure if "it's His voice," I want no boundaries separating Him and I. Open communication. I want to trust and obey Him with all of my heart. Everyday I want to know him more.
Have a terrific Tuesday, my favorite bloggers! Love u, Lori
Thank you, Wendy, and thank you, Ladies for opening up Verses 24-26. Those had me confused! Will have to come back later and meditate on them some more.
Ex 4:18 Strikes me that Moses "went back to Jethro and said, Please let me return..." Why did he essentially ask to be allowed to leave. What if Jethro had said no? I don't think he would have, but it shows the respect Moses had for his father-in-law. There is such a break down in families today that you only see these types of relationships in other cultures. I think we should be close knit, but to be the way of old... Hmmm... God has me searching my heart and His truths about this.
As for obedience. It's so much easier to say that Jesus is the LORD of my life than to actually live that way. If you read my daughters post on my blog recently, you know this is the very thing she wrote about. At 10 years old, sometimes I think she has a better grasp on it then I do. When God asks me to step outside my comfort zone, then I have a hard time. When I can sit inside my little area of 'control' and comfort, it's not even an issue. How sad is that!
This was great! Y'all, I so look forward to learning with you each day. I have never been this eager to dive into the Word as I have this year.
Karen, I too had questions concerning why the LORD was going to kill Moses until Zipporah became obedient. Thank you for your research! Looks like most of us had questions there.
Wendy, glad that you quoted from Lysa's book. It's so full of truth.
How am I with obedience? Well...it's not always my most favorite thing to do! But, I do it for the Lord because He has placed in my heart the desire to want to be more like Him. Obedience is just one of the steps needed.
Thanks Wendy!! You all have a great day!
Hugs!
Susan
Just wanted to pop in this morning and say good morning to all of you. Will is out of school again today so we are headed to one of his best friends houses to play and I get to scrapbook some with one of my best friends :) I can't wait to catch up on the comments and the video when we get back this afternoon. I got ALOT out of today's reading! Will be back later today.
Have a blessed one everyone~

Obedience brings Blessings.
When I remember that through my thoughts of my own unwillingness to act, I am greatly rewarded.
The more I realize that and try to give up control of how I want to live, directing my own life, allows me to be an active member of His Kingdom.
I am not!
How am I at obedience? Funny you should ask. I have been wrestling with something that I think God is telling me to do. But it's not making sense... My DH's sister (Christian, too) borrowed money from us in 2004. It's down to the last $4,000. She made promises to pay but does not follow thru. Last year she only paid 2x and one of them I even got dinged w/ bank fees because her check bounced. It's causing me resentment and bitterness - towards her and my DH. God is asking me to lay it down and let it go. In my mind I'm arguing - "this can't be You, Lord? You know we can use this money for the upcoming quarterly tuition payment." Sigh... I think a talk with DH is in order. Pls pray for me bec whenever the topic revolves around the in-laws AND money, it's a double whammy and never ends well.
Where was I?
Karen, I was confused about that passage too when I came across it. Love the commentary. Jon Courson also said that "Moses couldn't pronounce judgment on Pharaoh's house while his own house was in error... God was saying "Moses, your life will be basically meaningless if you continue to neglect your primary ministry, your family."
Courson also said that revelation comes with obedience. God does not stack our spiritual in-boxes like our bosses do (love that visual). HE only gives us one assignment at a time. Then He waits until we obey.
The new to me was in 4:20"...In his hand he carried the staff of God." Contrast that w/ 4:2 where it was called a shepherd's staff. Which tells me that once God touches something it is never the same again.
Also loved the part re Aaron's staff becoming a serpent and swallowing the sorcerer's demonic induced serpents. Again from Courson (I have to get this book for myself), "As believers we are not free from attack but we are immune from its effects. Snakes show up and they strike. But we can eat them up, shake them off and not be beat down." Amen.
Have a blessed day, everyone!
Good reading this morning, GIG.
I camped on 6:9. Moses TOLD the people what God said. That was his responsibility. He obeyed. But then it was the responsibility of the people to respond...but they refused to listen.
It is our responsibility to obey the Lord when He asks us to speak to someone. But then it is THEIR responsibility how they take it and what they do with it. We can't be the Holy Spirit to them. We can't do the convicting...He (HS)has to. We aren't responsible to God for them. Our responsibility is obeying when God asks us to do something.
Another take away for me was 5:21. The leaders complained to Moses how Pharaoh was treating them. They said Moses made them stink before Pharaoh. What they didn't realize was that it was GOD that was allowing them to experience grief so He could bring about His will in them. Lamentations 3:32 says "Though He cause grief, yet will He have compassion according to the multitudes of His mercies.." They had a lot to learn before God COULD take them out of Egypt. One thing was, that He was God...the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. They had to forget their Egyptian idols. Yes...they were worshiping idols, they had forgotten about the One True God. They were too Egyptainized.
In 6:1 I camped on 3 words. "Then"
in other words, "since" all that had happened before, Moses had to turn to God because he had no where else to turn, (5:22-23) "Then" GOD was ready to act.
"Now" Moses had to learn to wait on God. The waiting game. His timing.
"I" It was God who was going to do the "action"...not Moses, not the people, not Pharaoh, but GOD.
In 6:6-8 there are 7 "I will" statements that God made. I won't list them...they are very obvious. They are promises from God to the people of Israel.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Jan TN
Jumping in to say I am still reading and still writing, just finding it difficult to get the time to write on the blog. Hopefully can get back into a schedule that keeps me from spending three hours doing Bible study. :) Starting new work and that kind of time is quickly fading away.
God bless,
sara
I am so EXCITED to share with you that my dear husband got saved yesterday! I baptized him in the shower this morning before he headed out on his trip to start his new job. I cannot express enough thanks for all of you who prayed for his salvation! I had brought a bible home from church for him to take with him and he said he had already packed a study bible by John Maxwell. The Lord is AWESOME! All in His timing! I appreciate your continued prayers for him to seek wisdom from the Lord God Almighty.

Rejoicing with you!!!! That is great news. Welcome to the family, Karen's DH.
Karen in OR Praise the Lord. I will continue to pray for your husbands strength and diligence in in following after our Lord.

Okay Ladies one down - More to go! :)
Loving all the comments this morning! Rejoicing with you and your husband, Karen!! Grace and Peace, love the picture from Jon Courson about our spiritual inboxes.. that revelation comes with obedience.
my new: God reveals to Moses a new name... Yahweh. Also, in Exod 4:19, God lovingly addresses an unspoken fear by telling Moses that the people who wanted to kill him back in Egypt are dead too.
My nugget: The 7 "I wills" in Exod 6:6-8. God is telling Moses I am going to do all this...not you. Then God tells him again in Exod 7:1 - "Pay close attention to this. I will..." Then in v5, so "the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD."
How am I on obedience? I'd have to say slow, but hoepfully improving. It took YEARS of hearing in bible studies the words "early in the morning" :). The Lord was calling me to get out of bed earlier and spend uninterrupted time with him in his Word. Wendy, this study is the blessing for my obedience! And yes, so much more is being revealed each and everyday!:)
Blessings!
Leslie
Blessings of the day this Tuesday!
I wasn't going to comment this morning due to time constraints, but the Lord turned me right around and prompted me to share what is on my heart.
So, in keeping with the theme of obedience...here I am:)...fingers to keyboard!
It was last year as we journeyed through Exodus I was called to leave my home, my job and my church for a new home, job and church; and it was within the pages of this book I found affirmation it truly was God's call that I leave my comfort zone and "head into the wilderness".
My notes today (which sound a lot like Wendy's!) say "there are rocks along the road even when we obey."
Many times I have asked God why he sent me here. Like my brother Moses, I confess, I have argued, protested, whined and been confused. God has been gentle but firm with me in letting me know this is the right path. He reminds me I have only to trust in him and let him lead me and soon enough the fog will clear.
Today's reading, Wendy's teaching and all of your comments have all served to lift me up and affirm that I am, indeed, on the right road...rocky though it may be at times.
Be blessed and be a blessing today,
Liz

Popping back in today to share my thoughts on 4:30-31: “Moses performed the miraculous signs…the people of Israel were convinced that the LORD had sent Moses and Aaron…they bowed down and worshiped.”
Today these verses along with the whole reading really stood out to me so differently, than last year. I have this strong and overwhelming feeling that God just wants us to KNOW HIM---more and more, as each day turns into the next one. If we truly knew Him, we’d be praising Him, thanking Him and worshiping Him all throughout our day. Even amongst our trials and hardships, -we’d still be worshiping Him, rather than being afraid, or complaining, or doubting the situation that we are in. How many times do I want a “sign,” just like the Israelites needed? Today, I saw how they were not ready to “bow down and worship” the LORD, till Moses performed the miracles. Shame on them! Shame on me, too! I don’t want to be this way. I want to (with a desiring heart) eagerly, daily, lift up praise and worship to my Father, no matter what kind of day I’m having. No matter what. Even when we think our plate is too full. Even when we not sure why we are called to do something. God wants our trust. God wants us to believe that He will never leave or forsake us. He wants our praise. He truly wants us to know HIM.
“My Something To Do,” today ~ LORD, help me not be like the children of Israel. I so badly want to worship and adore you, all of the time, and especially on those days when I’m walking in complete faith. Help me know you more today. I seek to know you, dear LORD, with all of my heart. Thank you for blessing me with these special believers that love to study your Word. Thank you dear Father for hearing us as we pray over our husbands. Praise you for saving, Karen’s husband, Ken! We give you the Glory! May you pursue him and draw him so close to you. May their marriage be made in heaven; the two of them now, furthering your kingdom. PTL!!! Amen.
Love u, Lori
Yay, Karen! That's wonderful news! :-)
Karen from Basel, I wondered about that passage, too. My study Bible notes explained some of that, but your notes were more detailed. Thanks for sharing!
Me? Obedient? Hmmm ... I'm trying, but like Moses, I often miss it the first time around and have a bunch of questions and doubts. I'm trying, and hopefully learning. Last year around this time I said 'yes' to something I was sure God wanted me to do, and then got hit by a whole pile of rocks. It ended up totally changing our lives. I'm still trying to figure out what He wants me to do now, but I like this statement from Ex. 7. Knowing that He has a plan and a purpose for everything gives me patience while I wait!
On to the questions...
2. Maybe this is me being dumb, but I never knew that Moses and Aaron asked Pharaoh for 'time off' for the Israelites to have a religious festival in the wilderness. Did Moses really want to do that, maybe to help draw them back to their roots, or was he just using that as an excuse to get them on their way?
2. Ex. 5:13 I didn't know that God ever spoke to Aaron, too. At this point in history, did He still show up and talk with people on a regular basis?
3. Ex. 7:3 God allows certain negative attitudes and events so that His power and might will be more evident to those around. I need to be sure to stay out of His way and to be patient while He works - He always has a perfect plan!
Amy
PS - It's been so good to see new people commenting over the past few days!
I have several random thoughts to share--
I love to listen to Christian music (rock) as part of my daily worship--in the car and everywhere! It really adds to my day, and (Lori) reminds me to praise and walk with God even in the good times. This week, it amazes me how the songs are threaded with our readings. I heard Third Day's version of "God of Wonders" (does it get any better than this, really?) and thought of our last chapter of Job and all of God's awesomeness. I heard "Jesus Bring the Rain" by Mercy Me and thought of Job ("bring me anything that brings you glory") and I heard "He's Not Finished With Me Yet" by Brandon Heath and thought of our 80-year-old Moses. Then there's Casting Crowns "Voice of Truth..."
I am a Mary Kay consultant, and something we always learned about Moses is that God doesn't call the equipped, but he equips the called! He is equipping Moses.
Obedience? Right now, it is committing time from a busy schedule to read, write, dig, watch, read, write...spend time with the Lord EVERY day! Am loving it...
Oh you guys! I want to comment on everyone, you have brought out so much and answered so many of my questions - THANK YOU!!
Karen, thank you for digging into why God was going to kill Moses - I forgot that I had wondered the same thing! I really appreciate that insight.
Lynn, thank you for shining new light on the 1st born! I had to read the first part twice, because I couldn't get past 1st being best, but now I see what you mean, and I like that perspective :)
Danielle, good point about family relationships/respect.
G&P where do you get your Courson references? I feel like I hear him referenced a lot in my community group, does he have a website or certain book you use?
Karen in OR - PRAISE GOD!!! WE are a mighty army of prayers, and he hears us and lets us see his works. So great!!
Okay, I have to praise God again that he ties in my readings in multiple aspects of my life and faith-journey. My redemption group (focusing on suffering and deliverance from it) draws much from Exodus and Psalms. I just love his attention to that aspect of my life. Such a small thing, but to be able to learn and share here and learn and share there and REALLY absorb the word is such a blessing. Thank you Lord.
Things that stuck out to me were that God hardened Pharoah's heart. I had a hard time understanding why he would cause his people to suffer MORE than they already were. Thank you Wendy for shining some light on that.
Thanks also, ladies for delving into the staff/serpent. Really liked the insight that you brought to that.
I'm with Lori on obedience, I do have the fear of God in me and don't want to find out what happens if I directly disobey him. He has given me so much grace in my past sins that to blatantly disobey - whew, no way. But I also feel SO SO SO blessed when he reveals himself to me, how could I say no?!?! I am so grateful that he is so attentive and comes through in such a way in my life that I have no doubt of his Fatherly presence. My puny little human brain can't grasp the concept that it isn't because of anything I do, but just because I'm his kiddo and he has unconditional love. PTL for sure!
Have a very blessed Tuesday, all. If you have a minute, I am feeling VERY compelled to write an incredibly intimidating e-mail to my pastor, offering my help in an organization he just helped start called "Churches Helping Churches" (www.churcheshelpingchurches.org) for rebuilding Haiti. I know it's the devil putting this doubt in my mind, but if you could pray that God will guide my words and that he will use me for his glory, I'd really appreciate it.
For Jesus' Fame ~ Olivia
Praise God for your husband being saved Karen.
I am with Lori- I am afraid not to obey HIM. I learned the hard way once and that was enough for me.
Lord I pray I am obedient to you!
Ooh, I see the west coast lunch time crowd is posting.
Amy, I remember reading about the 3days off last night. It said that 3days is customary day off for slaves. Pharaoh won't even grant them that. It shows how hard his heart really is.
Olivia,
1) I am using a borrowed Jon Courson commentary called "Applicaton Commentary of the Old Testament Vol. 1 - Genesis to Job." He also has vol. 2 Psalms to Malachi and a corresponding one for the NT. I just went to his website www.joncourson.com and saw on the left side under "Commentaries" that he has all 3 volumes on special for $80 media mail. I was waiting to buy this from Amazon w/ my Valentine's Day gift fr DH. I don't know if I can wait!
2) As to your letter to your pastor, if God has given you peace about it, go for it!!!!
Even at the ripe age of 1/2 to 100 (older than dirt as my chicks tell me), I am reticent when it comes to obedience. Yet, I KNOW better! God has been taking me on a path of which had been my heart's secret desire, but I always turned away from and now He is leading to this dream. My feet drag, I whine, and then I yield, still thinking that maybe the Lord is a bit crazy, but believing only He knows they why of it all.
In Him
Gaylene
Hi All,
Thanks so much for clearing that up about Moses and his son's circumcision. I even pondered over it last night as I tried to fall asleep. Dear Lord, help me to not get bogged down in details right now!
In some versions of the Bible it talks about the Israelites being "stiff necked" people. I love that visual - and that is me - "stiff necked" as to obedience. I am also a doubter, like Thomas. I am never sure it is God's voice I am hearing. Perhaps the answer is to spend more time in prayer. (?)
I follow along every day and even read ahead sometimes. Each one of you is an inspiration to me!!
Blessing, Gail
Grace and Peace, thanks! That makes so much sense!
Amy :-)
Oh my goodness Karen that is amazing!!!! The Lord is working already everyone, He is already turning the hearts of our husbands to Him! I am praising Him! He is hearing and answering!
I have been gone all day long. Watched the video but don't have time to comment today. You said some things Wendy that really got down to the depths of my heart and things to pray over tonight. I can't turn back when it gets hard, which so many times I want to do, and it matters to not just me. Even in the smallest of things, my obedience matters to someone else.
Praising God today for the salvation He has brought and the salvation He is going to bring this year!

The is awesome. I need to make a button called We're praising...
Was your husband's name on our list? We will keep it on because he will still need our prayers.
Hallelujah! He is MIGHTY to SAVE!
Wendy,
Is there any way that some kind of mark could be added to those names as they're saved so that we can see the difference - the work that God is doing and can pray specifically for new believers or for salvation for each? It's so exciting to see what He's doing!
Amy
Karen- Thanks for explaining further on that in Ex. 4:24. I too had circled that verse today and wrote "why?" out to the side. That makes sense. :o)
My Something to Do is to trust God when he calls me to do something. I was at a women's conference recently and one of the speakers said, "God doesn't call the equipped. He equips the called." That really stuck out to me. Moses was used as an example and he and I have a lot in common. We don't speak much. And when I do, I feel like I either say too much or stumble around. I like what Wendy said "Obeying doesn't mean easy and smooth." God will never forget about me when I struggle with His calling. When I feel uncertain, I need to turn to Him and trust Him to carry me through.
Early this past year I was asked to do something. I thought "yeah right! are you kidding me?" Well since that time, the Lord has been dealing with me to get busy! So in addition to some books I bought by Carol Kent and this study, I'm gaining knowledge and understanding. I want to be a servant ready and waiting for His next step in my life. May He find me willing, though there are times I like Moses want to say "Why send me?"
I have put a list on my blog as well for salvations. Wendy if you put a new button I will just link my blog to that link as well. I already linked it to the list.
When I read 6:5 I was reminded by God that just as he was well aware of the sufferings of the Israelites and remembered His covenant with them, he also is very aware of what is going on in my life personally and that He has given me the promise of Eternal Life, no matter what I face. My prayer would be that I would always turn to Him when my yes gets tough!
Karen thank you for your addition to the teaching.
Karen - central OR, I praise the Lord with you.
Obedience:
After wondering, questioning, mulling over the situation ... it's so much easier, in the end, to do it God's way. He shows me this over and over. God makes my walk here on earth so much fun and VERY interesting!!
joan
I'm having a hard time keeping up with all the postings - is anyone else? and I don't want to miss anything.
Karen in OR :
May God continue to bless you and your husband. What a great idea to baptize him in the shower!!
Remember, he is a baby Christian. You are evidently a great wife and make him feel loved. Praise God for this blessing!!
If he loves you like Christ loved the church, and you listen to him, God will bless you beyond measure.
Remeber Genesis? That was hard to understand, but a beautiful lesson.
Thanks, Wendy for the daily guidance and prayers. May God bless this ministry to continue to be awesome!
Hey Girlfriends in God,
Well, I think that I had an experience in being disobedient to God...I have been making up for yesterday and today, so I have been in the Word for about 5 hours or more today; my husband keeps asking how I can do this in front of a computer. Finally, he asks if I'm not going to watch "Wheel of Fortune" like I usually do. As much as I didn't want to watch, I felt as if I should for him. THE DEVIL HATES THAT WE LOVE THIS STUDY WITH WENDY AND OUR SISTERS IN CHRIST!!!!! He will do whatever it takes to get us from it. As so as I sat down in the living room, I knew that this was an example of disobedience~my heart was with continuing with my learning, but yet I let God down. Halleluia, that I saw this as an act of not obeying...I finally saw that I disobey in the smallest ways of daily life, which are probably worse than the big things. Please forgive me, Lord, but thanks for the "Moses Moment" Would it be????
Jan, thanks for the list; I * my favorites, those that touched my heart.
Jane, from SC, I am thrilled that you are going to teach a Bible study again. You'll do great because all of gig's will be praying for you !!! ;)
Karen from Basel (where is Basel?)
THANK YOU for expainingv.24, and who is Matthew Henry; I've written his name so much in my journal ;)
Lutiemom/Nancy,I reaally agreed with your thinking today about if we know God better, we'll know His voice. I pray that through this journey, we are going to "better" our relationship with God, hear His Voice clearer, , thus we'll be obedient to the point of recognizing it is His Will and not ours.*** He showed me this at 7:30 tonight.
Lynn,OR..Thank you for explaining the "first born son"; the explanation gave me goose bumps.
Grace and Peace, I could identify with your situations of $ issue; I let it go, but I didn't realize it was God telling me to do that...I have learned and thought so much about my obedience to God.
Karen, Halleluia!!!! I had marked in my journal on 1/24 that your husband was going for an interview in Williamsburg?? on 2/2. I had put an answer to prayer about the unemployment for 15 months. Are you the same Karen and did Ken take his Bible?? That's ia also a praise report~one of our answered prayers.PTL!!!
Runner Mom--I had prayed for your son and his team as I live in NC and knew how roads could be...the fact that they got home safely is also an answered prayer from our Lord. Halleluia!!!
Lori,I loved your comments about God just wanting to know us...I heard somewhere,on tv preaching show, that God Himself just wants to be alone with me and spend time with me.That thought gets me through a lot. He is definitely getting my time with this wonderful study in His Word; I have never felt so close to Him, and I know that it has to do with being in His Word every day.
Jennifer, I worship with Michael Smith and the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir ...love, love, love it and I am an old woman of 60 (March 10)
Olivia, write that email, girl. Your GIG will be lifting you up.
To Do: I love the verb usage in Ex.6:6-8--> "I am, I will free, will rescue, I will redeem, I will claim, I will be, I will bring, I am..." declaring that He is always present, always God, constant, unending... as Wendy taught yesterday. Oh, Lord, how many nations today need to understand this promise...
Rest in the Lord tonight, GIG,
Jeanne
(Sorry this was so long, but it has helped my soul to get this written)
To Anonymous,
Yes, it can get kind of confusing, and maybe there is a better way of doing this; but being afraid of missing something has definitely done good things to me - I keep checking this site all throughout the day, wondering what God is showing the other GiGs, that I end up thinking about the day's passage all day instead of just during my study time.
Thanks, everybody, for making this such a great study! :-)
Good Evening this is a great way to end my day. In the Word & reading others comments on the Word. What a blessing I have received from you all. Thank you.
Praising God for the answered prayers.
1)heard in a new way;Exodus 3:14-15 God replied to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. Say this to the people of Israel: "I AM has sent me to you." God also said to Moses, "Say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of your ancestors--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob--has sent me to you.' 'THIS IS MY ETERNAL NAME, MY NAME TO REMEMBER FOR ALL GENERATIONS' wow this powerful & beautiful!!!
2)didn't know; Exodus 4:24-26, Moses, Zipporah, son, & circumcision. Thank you all for your insights, they have helped me to understand these verses.
3)nugget; I AM WHO AM, Yahweh is the same today, yesterday & tomorrow thank you Lord Jehovah!!
Good night & pleasant dreams.
Blessings & Peace
Mary
To anonymous:
Yes, it can be overwhelming to keep up and not miss out! My tip would be to first schedule time for this study in your calendar every day. Then, the Bible reading, your writing and Wendy's video should be the meat and potatoes. The blogs are the icing on the cake--and I do love the icing! But I think this helps with priorities, and I also try to read the blogs once in the afternoon and check again at night. The most important thing is that you are spending time in the Word, and Wendy said in the beginning that if you miss a day or so, you will be NO LESS VICTORIOUS in the end, so don't feel guilty! You will still be better off for having read at all!
Just wanted to say a small "hello" and send love and prayers and thanks for all the food for thought and instruction from Wendy and each one of you... It is often intimidating coming back at the end of the day and see all the comments and trying to soak it all up. I am into my third week at my new job and life remains tense and stressful... with limits on my time and energy levels. Things will get better with time. I am so thankful for the daily portion that the Lord provides, and I know He is with me.
Blessings at the end of this Tuesday...
Marianne
Wendy,
Please add my husband name to the list. Henk.
Thank You.
Thank you all so much for rejoicing with me! I am so thankful to God for softening my hubby's heart. The Lord is working!
Let us speak positive things about our husbands and bind any power Satan is trying to get a foothold in. And, Jeanne, yes, Ken is my husband who is on his way to a job in Williamsburg after being unemployed for over 15 months. God is awesome and I give Him all the praise and glory! Thank you Lord!
I'm praying for our husbands!
