My Take Aways
Something Old:
The Lord will fight my battles. Vengeance is His and best delivered on His timetable in His way. My role is to pray for my enemies.
Something New:
Numbers 21:1-3
The Israelites sought God in a battle with the Canaanites and won the battle.
Something to Do:
Pray for my "enemy." Right now I have someone I am hostile toward because of something that was done to us. I heard the Lord loud and clear, "Pray for them!" "Yes Sir."

I also underlined every time Moses and Aaron fell face down before the Lord. I have also been face down before God, but maybe not as often as I should. :)
Foreshadowing of Christ today; Numbers 16:47-48 when the plague was already striking: Aaron did as Moses told him and ran out among the people. The plague had already begun to strike down the people, but Aaron burned the incense and purified the people. 48 He stood between the dead and the living, and the plague stopped.
He purified the people and he stood between the dead and the living! To me that is a wonderful visual picture of our Savior! 1Peter 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
Rev. 1:17b-18 "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades."
My old that is new again is the story of Aaron's rod. I love Numbers 17:8. God had already said that buds would sprout on the rod of the man He chose, but verse 8 says " When he went into the Tabernacle of the Covenant the next day, he found that Aaron’s staff, representing the tribe of Levi, had sprouted, budded, blossomed, and produced ripe almonds!" It makes me smile when God leaves us no room for doubt regarding His will!
I looked up almonds again. Fausset's Bible Dictionary says in part:
The almonds growing on Aaron's rod, when laid up over night before the Lord, denote the ever wakeful priesthood which should continue until the Antitype should come; type also of the vigilance and fruitfulness which Christ's ministers should exhibit;. also of the rod of Christ's strength which shall finally destroy every adversary (Numbers 17:8; Psalm 110:2; Psalm 110:5-6).

Today through Sunday evening I'm praying for you and your family, dear Wendy! Today, my take-away's were very similar to yours. I also remember Beth Moore encouraging us to take our places on our faces. It puts us in our lowly place and helps us remember it's not "all about us."
What you said yesterday, Grace and Peace, hit home to me today also –(Moses being a humble man). Then, Wendy you spoke about this on your vlog today. Once again Moses is faced with opposition. Korah/group plan to overthrow the leadership of Moses and Aaron, saying; “You have gone too far! The whole community of Israel has been set apart by the LORD, and he is with all of us. What right do you have to act as though you are greater than the rest of the LORD’s people?” (16:3) Envy and jealousy got the better of them! But, Moses – what happens? Did he react in anger? No, he and Aaron fell face before the Lord and prayed for the Israelites.
My To Do: Oh, that I too, would have the humbleness & meekness that Moses portrayed! May there be evidence in my actions so that I will react with the right spirit. To further understand the word meekness: lowliness, humility, mildness, timidness, modesty, yielding, unassuming, calm & gentle. (dictionary.com) To go to the throne rather than the phone & and take my place on my face! That I may, "love [my] neighbor as [myself]" Lev. 19:18---not to just know this, but to [put it] into practice (Lev.19:37).

Dear Wendy, you are covered with prayer as you travel and minister this weekend.
Thank You, Father God, for giving Wendy just the right words to share with us each morning. You know exactly what is needed to bring me to my knees....thank You for the examples of Moses and Aaron pleading for the people. I have been negligent in praying for our leaders and I repent and seek Your forgiveness.
Something that jumped out today was the Levites were to give a tithe of the tithe a sacred and special offering.

My old: Num 16:11 - "the Lord is the one you and your followers are really revolting against!" Again...all complaints are actually against God.
My new: Num 16:41 "but the VERY NEXT morning the whole community of Isreal began muttering again!"
It didn't take them long to start complaining again...even after they saw what the Lord could do.
Nugget: Aaron's staff was placed permanently before the Ark to serve as a warning to rebels and to put an END to their complaints. (wishful thinking)....Lord help me be reminded about my complaining and help me to put an END to it. Amen.

As always, great teaching this morning. Enemies --- those who are hostile and opposing --- I'll bet we all have a few of those. I shall try to pray for them, and leave it all to God.

In my New American Bible they called it an inviolable covenant*

2 chr 13:5, Do you not know that the Lord, the God of Isreal, has given the kingdom of Isreal to David forever, to him and to his sons, by a covenant made in salt?
Mat 5:13, “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses it’s taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot*.
Note on Lv 2:13, The salt of the covenant of your God: the partaking in common of salt by those seated together at table was an ancient symbol of friendship and alliance.

I need to pray for my enemies as Moses did. I used to pray for God to fix them!! Sometimes I am the one in the wrong. In Moses situation, the sides are clear!!

Today, Numbers 18:20 touched my heart where God said to Aaron "You will have no inheritance in their land, nor will you have any share among them; I am your share and your inheritance among the Israelites." God is our share and inheritance too! What an overflowing inheritance, indeed.

I can be on my face when it comes to my loved ones. I don't recall ever doing it for my not-so-loved ones. So please move over, I'm sitting with you in the convicted box.
What struck me was when Dathan and Abiram in Numbers 16:12-13 accused Moses of taking them out of Egypt - a land flowing with milk and honey. They were slaves! They weren't enjoying whatever milk and honey there were, if at all. Jon Courson said in relation to this: "Rebellion never has its root in principle. Rebellion has its root in pride. And because of this, the rebellious person doesn't see things right. His perspective is entirely wrong - as seen in Dathan's and Abiram's reference to the land in which they had been beaten for 400 years as a land of milk and honey."
He further added: "In addition to being the meekest man on the face of the earth, Moses surely must have been one of the wisest - for rather than dealing in anger with rebellion, he left it in the hands of the Lord."
Realizing that I need to leave a lot of things in the hands of the Lord...

It is interesting that the leaders of the rebellion were the ones serving at the Tabernacle-of the Levi tribe. We leaders need to especially be aware and on the lookout for the roaring lion (Satan)prowling around looking for someone to devour.( to make prideful, critical)
Mosses' humility was attacked and Aaron's position as the high priest, or calling, was attacked. Yet they both interceeded for those sinful people again, just like Jesus does for us.
Aaron was rewarded for his faithfulness by God giving him and the Levites the Israelites' tithe.
They were to tithe one tenth of this, leading the way for others.
Can we pray for our enemies? Can we pray for someone we don't love, or does it change us into loving our enemy? That's when we are like Jesus. He was on the cross praying for those who put Him there. (and me and you)

She has us listing daily 5 things
for which we are grateful. It puts my thinking in the right perspective, on God's goodness.(Ps. 103 is a great verse.)

Wendy, sending up prayers of safe travels and God's Spirit with and in you during your out-of-town ministry.
I'm just SO blown away by the Isrealites', and now the Levites' obstinence and rebellion! Their idols are truely blinding them and they are blatantly unrepentant and mistrusting of God!! I'm so floored! I'm sure, though, were this translated into modern-day terms, I'd see it all around me, and possibly within my own life (though hopefully not to this degree).
My old/new is the reinstatement of the absolute SIN that unbelief and mistrust of God is. To minimize his glory and want things on our terms is basically saying, "yeah, you made me, but I think I can do my life better; you aren't capable of doing things better than I am, so thanks for trying, but I got it from here." SERIOUSLY?!?!?! Pride goes before a fall, and today I learned where the phrase "trial by fire" came from :)
My new was when "the Lord does something entirely new". His patience is inconceivable, and although this time his power is demonstrated through punishment, it is still an incredible miracle! The earth opened up and swallowed them! Helloooooo! And yet they complained after that, accusing MOSES of being responsible of these deaths - with the undertone of injustice. I've about had it with these jerks. Praise God that HE is the judge and not me, cause I'm having a hard time just reading about it!
Nugget:
God is capable of awesome signs and wonders. He works miracles all the TIME as a result of pure faith. God please pour out your gracious mercy on me that I may never be blind to your works. That even when I can't see great signs, I may never lose faith in you. Please soften my heart to desire you before all else and to never glamorize the slavery of my past.
You guys also brought up some good "to do"s that I added to my notes.

What an awesome week in the Word. What an awesome year to date in the Word! I am so thankful for all the insights & remarks!
