Thanks for the refresher idea. I will admit, I skimmed (more skipped than skimmed) the description of the festivals again. I felt a bit guilty, but I did not see the refresher angle until your vlog.
I also underlined Numbers 27:16 and looked up on the Studylight.org sight the word for God in the original Hebrew. It was Elohim, Creator and Judge of the universe.
I also found this explanatory note; The name Elohim is the plural of Eloah. It only occurs in Hebrew and in no other ancient Semitic language. The masculine plural ending does not mean "gods" when referring to the true God of Israel... however, considering the Hashalush HaKadosh (Trinity), the form indeed allows for the plurality within the Godhead. (Hebrew for Christians).
I love the way the Word of God reveals the Names of God to refresh us each day.

I'm so glad you had a good weekend in Wisconsin, Wendy! And thank you so much for today's refresher of what this study is all about. As you predicted, "life" got in the way of my reading and commenting in the past few days, in the form of my daughter's upcoming Bridal Shower and wedding preparations.
I, too, planned to "check off the box" this year, but have found this study to be so much more than that.
The scripture you quoted today:
"You are the God who gives breath to all creatures"
is very timely for me, as my sister will be seeing a new doctor today to try to improve the pulmonary hypertension that confines her to a wheelchair. I pray that God brings my brave sister some relief.
My to do today: Stay close to God, stay cheerful and grateful, and be a problem solver in a areas of my life. There will be problems every day -- my job is to solve try to them with God's guidance. Lord, help me to approach problems as challenges You send my way, so that I might demonstrate the strength and creativity You have gifted me with. Amen.

Thank you so much for the reminder of why we are doing this. I also have fallen behind and am wanting to get caught up. Thanks for reminding me it is a commitment. I do spend time in the word everyday but with devotions and other studies sometimes I don't get all of my reading done here, then I have to play catch up. Anyway, thank you.

Today’s reading….. Yes Wendy, your right a great review. With Moses whom will soon be gone?? I would just like to share a article that was posted on our bulletin this Sunday (a great review and some food for some thought)…I was amazed at its time of posting.
And now Moses asking God Please appoint a new man as leader for the community)…

CAN WE PUT OURSELVES IN MOSES’S SHOES?
Moses approaching the burning bush is one of the most famous images in the Bible. Artists have tried to show what the bush looked like. Part of the attraction, no doubt, is the challenge to imagine and then portray the “special effects”--this bush burned but did not burn up.
That got enough of Moses’ attention for him to take a closer look. Did he have to stare at the bush a while to realize it wasn’t consumed? Did it dawn on him slowly-- this is terribly different? Did his adrenaline surge? Here is something he could see but couldn’t make sense of. Would Moses be able to draw a picture of what he saw? Maybe he wouldn’t try. This story moved even deeper.
Moses heard his name called. Who knows me? “Here I am,” Moses responds. Is he ready to come closer to this bush, to this Voice? He is told, NO, stay there now. This place is not just about a strange vision, it is holy ground. Take off your shoes.
On this holy ground, God disarms Moses and opens his fears. Will God relieve his physical, visceral, deepening dread? God next describes the misery of his people. The Voice pushes Moses further: God will stop their slavery and take them to their own land. This is an incredible claim. These people have been in Egypt 400 years.
The burning is inside Moses now.
God promises much. How can Moses grasp all this?
There’s more: Go tell the people.
What? How can I do that? Could Moses dare not hope? Can Moses dare do what God asks? The Voice again--I will be with you.
Moses is filled by God, by what God tells him. But he’s not consumed, not burned up.

Hi all! Today I settled on: Numbers 28:2. "The offerings you present as special gifts are a PLEASING AROMA to me; they are my food."
I wondered about this "pleasing aroma" I read about many times in the Bible. We ladies "love" pleasing aromas....we dab on perfume and slather on yummy lotion so we give off pleasing aromas all day. We know what smells good and so does God.
I found this verse in the NT:
2 Corinthians 2:15: "For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing". "We" are the aroma now....no more burning meat and grains and oils....when our hearts are right with Christ and we have attitudes of love, we are God's pleasing aroma....attracting others and helping them to see Jesus.
Dab on a little "Jesus" today!

Oh, Dear Loved Ones, the journey we're on is a life-long journey! Not one that will be check-off at the end of 2010. Year after year He reveals more nuggets to us. Oh, that all of His precious Word would be alive and active in us!
Nearly 40 years had passed and all the 603,550 adult men from the first census (1:46) (except Joshua, Caleb, and Moses) had died. The new generation were children when they left Egypt and now remain 40 years older, and like Wendy told us they need to hear about the sacrifices, offerings, and ceremonies in chapters 28 & 29.
“The LORD said to Moses, Give these instructions to the people of Israel: “The offerings you present as special gifts are a pleasing aroma to me; they are my food. See to it that they are brought at the appointed times and offered according to my instructions” (Numbers 28: 1& 2).
During these specially designated times the Israelites had much to be joyful about:
The LORD protected them.
The LORD allowed them to be triumphant over their enemies.
The LORD supplied their needs.
My To Do: I need to remember also that I am on a journey. A great adventure awaits me each morning as I awake ~ daily walking with the Lord and anticipating deeper experiences and greater faith as I share His glory with those around me. Today I look forward to His joy as I fellowship with Him.

In Numbers 27:12-23, The Lord tells Moses it is time for him to die, but He lets Moses see the Promised Land. Moses wasn't afraid of dying, but it was a time for gathering of the people. Joshua was appointed the next leader of Isreal.
Christians aren't afraid of dying. We will be with the Lord Jesus and the believers who have gone on before us. We're not home yet, just hang onto your faith. As we get older, we think on that time as drawing nearer.

I started with you in January, missed some in February and now back in March. I was at the retreat with you this weekend...I won the chronological Bible! I'm actually giving it to my daughter, Ashlyn. (She was there too and helped you at the resource table a bit.) Thank you for your teaching this weekend. The last session really spoke to me and some changes I need to make again in my life. "Obedience Matters" and even in today's reading, "Moses did as God commanded" in giving the instructions to the people. So have you and now I need to respond! Thank you.

Morgen, your mention of the aroma brought to mind what I read last night. Jon Courson said that usually the smell of burning flesh is anything but sweet BUT for God anytime there "flesh is placed upon the altar, it's always sweet to the Father. The flesh speaks of our inclination towards self. Thus, there is nothing sweeter to God than when I lay my flesh on the altar and let it burn. It's sweet to Him because 1) it sets me free. God knows that sin is only pleasurable for a season; 2) it lets me see. It lets me see God. It makes us want to desire His face more than His hand." This also tied in to what our pastor preached last night re Romans 6. We serve something - either our old nature or our new nature. Which are we feeding?
The thing that caught my attention was the daughters of Zelophehad because it proves there are no coincidences in the bible. This is what I learned from Chuck Missler: "There is a peculiar exception recorded in the Roah, the result of a petition by the daughters of Zelophehad, which provided for inheritance throught the daughter if no sons were available and she married within a tribe. Requested of Moses and granted by Joshua.
"It became tradition in such cases that the father would legally adopt his son-in-law.
"Behind a technicality lies a discovery.
"This anticipates the lineage of Christ - Joseph was the son-in-law of Heli (Luke 3:23), reckoned as by law. Every detail - even in the regulation of the Troah - are there by deliberate design; and always point to Christ." (from Prophecy 101 class, Koinonia Institute)
To think that the obedience of the daughters to the promptings of the Holy Spirit in asking, claiming for their inheritance also proved to be an important factor in Jesus' lineage as the Messiah.

It still is amazing to me that Moses will not be entering the Promised Land....after taking the bunch of whiners just about to the entrance! Joyce Meyer spoke on this just a few days ago and said that when she questioned God about that He said, "With leaders much is given and MUCH IS REQUIRED." So despite the fact that it seemed not that big a deal that Moses hit the rock 2x instead of speaking to it, in reality it was a BIG deal.
I'm working on listening to God and obeying Him right away.

As I read today's reading I was reminded and convicted on how much time and money is given back to God. I have been praying for His direction in my life for my time and money. I want to give ALL to Him and I ask for others to pray for me and everyone in this community of believers as we dedicate each day to His Word! May we all be a pleasing aroma to Him each day as we die to our selves and our old nature and take on His nature! It reminds me of the song, So Long Self! Have a blessed day everyone! I didn't think about how the people were only children when God first gave them directions about the sacrifices and festivals. Thanks for sharing that.
Num. 27:21 jumped out at me today. Moses always took his questions to God, didn't he - sometimes even making people stand there and wait while he went to ask Him? So why does Joshua now have to go to the priest and ask him to cast lots to determine an answer? It seems as if more distance is being put between God and His people. Obviously they haven't always been obedient, but I'm wondering why God is choosing this time to change things up - doesn't Joshua have His spirt, as well?
I've totally loved the snow that we've had this winter, but the current sunshine and warm temps are great, too! :-)

Before I can even watch Wendy's vlog or really study for today, Monday, ...I have to say that I just realized I have been Balaam in my Bible Study. I am behind in my reading, or I should say my understanding because I just couldn't get into it, and I prayed and couldn't figure out why I had lost my zeal.... Then I read over the Open Blog for the week-end and read what Gaylene and Kate had written and realized I have been like Balaam. I had been so bogged down with reading commentaries to "make sure" I could understand, and I lost the value of what I was doing. I didn't see that God was saying, "Jeanne, I want my Word to be rich to you for what I say to you, not from the knowledge of these two men who have studied MY Word for years." When Gaylene wrote about Balaam being a non-listening fool in Numb.22:23, I realized that God was trying to get my attention, and I DIDN"T get it until I read Gaylene's comment, and then Kate writing that Balaam didn't obey God's 1st order...WOW!!!! His Spirit go all over me with His love and righteousness. I went right back to my old way of about 4 days ago... I'm writing down: My new or My take away, not someone else's, and I'm going to rely on Wendy and my GIG to teach me the rest. I GOT TOO BOGGED DOWN AND LOST MY JOY!!!!
I am grateful to Gaylene for the Lord using her to open my eyes. I even want to comment again, and I had lost that desire for a few days. I, like Balaam, was powerless doing anything against the will of the Lord.

Wow!!!! Wendy, I had just finished my March 7 notes and reading of comments...getting ready for bed. BUT I just had to watch your video..what REASSURANCE the Lord gave me as you refreshed our minds with why we were really doing the study...The one thing God wants me to get from His Word today. I was getting to stuff I didn't understand, and then I was going to far to understand and missed it all. Thank you for reminding me to claim Deut. 29:29
YES, IT IS NICE TO REMEMBER WHAT WE ARE DOING THIS FOR ANYWAY !!!!! I have a peace and understanding about all of this now.
His Spirit is amazing....He shows me the reason of my downfall before your video AND then after the video, He reassures me that He's put me back on the path. ( I don't do well when you're gone on the week-ends :) BUT thank you Jesus for my GIG!!!
