"And they named him Obed."
Ruth 4:17
Ruth 4:17
My Take Aways:
Something Old:
We will never the greatness of our descendants.
Something New:
I had forgotten the David's lineage was traced back to Ruth. How must more beautiful is the story of Ruth now that we see her connection to David.
Something to Do:
I must speak of the Word all the time. Someone in my family line may become famous.

Good early morning, all. I'm posting early because I have to leave early to attend the funeral service for Benjamin from my DS2's school.
Wendy praying for travel mercies. Lifting up Micca in prayer too.
Dixie, I love what you posted last night. Yes we definitely need to start sending more "knee mails" to God. There are so many needs. But He hears them all.
The verse that caught my eye was that of Jabez. He was a praying man. And God answered his prayer like He will answer ours. We just need to be prepared to accept those answes be it "yes," "no," or "wait."
Parting words fr Jon Courson:"The secret to Jabez success wasn't due to a seminar he attended or to a book he puechased. Jabez' success was due to the fact that he was a man of prayer....Pray. And pray more. And pray still more. "
And as Dixie said, keep sending God those knee mails. :D
Good Morning GIGs.
"...He became the father of Jesse and the grandfather of David." When God steps in, the ordinary events of life take on extraordinary significance.
Have a wonderful day!
Redeemed by Him,
Gaylene
Sweet Wendy, what a beautiful message as always this morning! Thanks and many prayers for your travels and fellowship this weekend.
What struck me as I listened to your video is when you said, Ruth followed her heart and stayed with her mother in law, Naomi. I recalled that Naomi was described as bitter and pretty much depressed. I admired Ruth for her faithfulness and love she showed to Naomi. As you tied in the greatest command to love the Lord our God with all our heart and soul in Deut. 6. I would like to tie in the 2nd commandment to love others. In John 15:12, Jesus commands His disciples to love each other as He has loved. He states, Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
Sweet Ruth displayed this love as she followed and cared for her broken mother in law. Like Wendy said in her video that out of that love came David.
Praise the Lord, Ladies. Have a blessed day!

Morning~
Wendy I just loved what you had to say today! On Tuesday I listened to a session by Beth Moore in her "To Live is Christ" study and the topic was about making an invisible God visible to children. Our responsibility is to make Him irresistable to the next generation.
Her points were:
1. We have to see God ourselves. John 14:19-23 tells us how to see God. Obedience is the key. The more we obey the more we will love Him, and the more we will see Him. We will be able to see Him more in the details of daily life and we will be able to share that with our children.
2. We are their primary influence and we have to take advantage of that small window when they are young, when they think you are everything, to teach them the truth. Teach them when their hearts are tender and pliable.
3. We have to personally demonstrate the relevance of God's Word. Prov. 3:5-6. Model and tell them about when you have trusted God and not yourself and how He had honored that and directed your path. In difficulty we have to turn to Christ, they are watching. They will model what they see.
4. Look for opportunities to teach them about God. Deut 6:4-9, as Wendy pointed out. In the Hebrew home God was not a "religion" it was a way of life.
5. We have to grow with them and as they get older find new and relevant ways to teach the same concepts.
6. Dedicate them to God. Beth gave the well known scripture Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it." One thing I love about Beth Moore, and Wendy does this too so often, is bringing out deeper into the text by looking up the meanings of the Hebrew words.
"train" here does not just mean disciple and teach, it does mean that but is also means to dedicate. What this verse is telling us is we need to teach our children and do what God requires of us, then dedicate them to Him. We need to leave what we have done in God's hands and trust Him that what we have taught them they will never be able to turn off those things of God that keep ringing in their ears even if they fall away. As far as they may run they will never be able to get away from God and that truth that was instilled in them by you. Beth suggests that we pray that the precepts that were taught will drive them crazy until they drive them back to God. I know someone needed to hear that today :)
I pray you all have a great day! Prayers lifted for you all and for Micca.
In Him,
Brandee, TN
Hi Bible Sister,
Wendy …I stopped and paused to send up prayers for Micca. May she feel His healing hand upon her. God Bless You Micca. Wendy your so right on we never know the future of our children. Our future is ALL in his strong hand. Like Dixie & Grace & Peace we have to be on our knees more… What can we do? Follow Jabez.
My bible verse: Year after year it was the same-Peninnah would taunt Hannah as they went to the Tabernacle. Each time Hannah would be reduced to tears and would not even eat.
I was Hannah 17 years ago. Love her story….only wish I was reading the bible back then….I know her pain. Today I can count it a blessing. This is a part of my bible story as well. Lots to tell about this subject…Just if anyone is out there today…..whom is dealing with infertility. Hold on…. God is collecting each tear you cry. He knows the longing to your heart. For mine he had to do some changing to it first.
What the future holds for our 2 sons today?? Pray….and Pray some more. Just the other day my 16 year old said this to me, “Mom…..I need to learn, by Me making my own mistakes.” Oh how I want to protect Him from any pain…..But you know… he is so right. That is how we do learn. So today I will put Him in His Strong Hands….He has a plan for His life. I will keep praying.
Grace & Peace….Your in our prayers today. ALWAYS love your info.
Brandee...Just what I need to read today. Thank you...Great info.
Jacque….Praying for your sons case always. Hope all is going well.
Jodie….Keep trusting in him for your family situation. That is a tuff decision. Also praying for your brother MIL.
Lori ….sister we loved reading your all of your comments yesterday. Could tell… yes there must have been some computer problem.
Nancy …..Prayers for your friend Lori. Do you mind us asking ….How did she make out yesterday?
Amy….Country Girl…(Me too)..Allergies …..Praying for you. Have a son whom deals with them.
Michelle…New England….Glad to here you are getting warmer weather after the rain. Prayers went up for your sister Denise…Here is a (((Hug))) for you and her. For some reason this song just popped in my thoughts…..Healing Rain is falling down. ….. God Bless.
A little pondering for me today:
Hannah managed to dispel her grief. How did she do it? She “prayed to the Lord” (1 Samuel 1:10).
To Do: speak to the Lord today! He is waiting to hear-and to help Us.
Love the Lord...
Rhonda
Wendy, I love what you had to say today! I picked that same verse but didn't go that far. You always teach me sooo much!
Am praying for Micca and the other requests ... I met Micca at a conference last year and got to talk to her for a moment. She's truly wonderful.
Dixie, I had the hardest time putting 'The Last Jihad' books down until I had finished all 5, and even then I wanted more. I thought the first a bit difficult to get into, but each one just gets better and better. The author's Messianic Christian perspective on OT prophecy and current events was fascinating to me. Happy reading!!
Sometimes I feel a bit guilty for spending so much time with this study when my children are so small. This all happens when they're sleeping, but still ... we have been a bit dustier this year than usual, to say the least, but today's reading and vlog makes me feel much better. One of my purposes as a mother is to follow D6 and Prov. 22:6, but I can't do that if I'm not filled up and learning myself. The reaffirmation felt good. :-)
In Hannah's story so far ... her sister-in-law was really cruel! Her husband seemed a bit dense and arrogant, as well. In that society where being a mother is everything, how could he not at least sympathize with the pain that his wife was feeling? It reminded me of Job and what a poor job his 'friends' did of being friends to him. Hannah needed an Elihu to just 'be' with her. Who do I know right now who needs me? Maybe I need to pay a bit more attention to my friends ....
It's supposed to rain later today, and I'm SO excited! Maybe then the kids and I can go outside for a bit!! Never thought I'd be so excited for the rain!
Good Morning and Happy Thursday!
Just want ya'll to know I'm praying for my, "Wendy sisters" -loved that wording, Michelle!
Praying for Micah…
Is this the weekend you see, Wendy (???) Michelle? Smile! 80 degrees-you beat us, it was only in the high 70’s here! I’m hoping the basement is soon-to-be-completed! I can relate, as this happened to us, too! Our home was brand new and the carpet had just been laid. God (I know this now) had led me to come back to the house to check on something, as we were getting ready to move in shortly…I heard noise in the basement and as I walked down the stairs, I saw the entire level filled with water! (NOW) it’s a funny story, because of what caused it, but then, well, the carpets had to be taken out, the padding, it had to be dried out, and re-carpeted. But, at least we had not moved in! Praying too for sweet Denise, I loved the way her husband asked you to ask us to pray. That really warmed my heart.
G & P, praying for Benjamin’s siblings today, too. Thank you for the summary of Ruth.
Paola ~ praying for your husband…Nancy ~ your dear friend Lori… Jodie ~ your family situation & brother’s MIL. Through their suffering, that God would be their portion and strength.
Sweet Jennifer Renee, I know we were getting spoiled by your daily posts, but I did miss you yesterday, just wanted you to know!
Brandee, I so loved your points! This command we have before us to pass down our faith has become top on my heart. And, Wendy what you wrote about today is so true. We can not do this until we love him ourselves. God draws us to Him through His Word. The more we read, the more we seek & dig. The more we love him and we just can’t help ourselves! It’s the Holy Spirit working in us! He just comes out naturally.
Today I highlighted the same things you spoke of, Wendy! {Love the days that happens, I feel smart} ha-ha, just kidding! Truly, look at the blessings that came about when Ruth was not selfish and self-centered! She honored God’s desire and took care of her MIL. She obeyed the whispers in her heart.
Today I will be pondering over what Gaylene said, as it ties this all together:
“ When God steps in, the ordinary events of life take on extraordinary significance.”
Makes me really think about my ancestors, and which one of them was so obedient to God….God has wooed me and pursued me so close to Him. I know my mom prayed daily that I would be in His Word. Oh, dear sisters we have an obligation, to pass down our love of Jesus, our love of God’s Word, our faith to those who surround us. Daily, I have been praying for God to help me to this important task. I’ve been asking Him to open my eyes to each and every opportunity to share and model my love. I want this top on my To Do List. LOVE.
Oh yes, I do have to add…Bethany, the chapters were powerful reading yesterday. Thank you (tons) for sharing this w/ us! What stuck out to me yesterday as I read through them was, “You didn’t choose me. I chose you.” Aaahhh, does this just make you love Him even more!!!!! Okay, this is getting long, let’s hope it posts, and not a dozen times.
LOVE YOU ALL, Lori
Wendy, I so enjoy your comments and this year listening to you on the video blog! I'm reading through for the second time.
I will be praying for your weekend that God will use you and that you too will be blessed.
Wanted to let you know that this week when I play your video it is making a vibrating noise that comes and goes. I know it's at your end, not mine.
While you are speaking I will be walking 26.2 miles with thousands of others in Houston in the Avon Walk Against Breast Cancer. One of the passions God has given me. I'm walking and praying for friends and family members who have been affected by this horrible disease - survivors, heroes, and their families!
Believing God is who He says He is!

Hi Ladies! I don't comment often but just wanted to thank you all for the knowledge and encouragement you give me daily. I continue to lift up your requests in prayer.
Wendy, I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!!! I live in RI (but I'm a coastal NC girl ;-) and I will be seeing you "face to face" (FOR REAL) on Saturday!! AHHHH!!!!! So excited! I can't make Friday's dinner but I'm just praising God I'm able to attend Satruday. Praying for safe travels for you.
Have a blessed,
Dawna
I watched your vlog twice Wendy to really grasp it. I loved it! I think back on who planted seeds in my life and I remember a sunday school teacher who did; and also when I stayed overnite at an elementary friend's house her mother did devotions with us. At the time it seemed to not mean much, but today it means alot! I accepted Jesus as my Savior at Bible camp in the 9th grade and I so wish I could remember my camp counselor's name, but she will get her reward in Heaven!
I loved the idea that a child I teach in Sunday School or VBS has the potential to become a great spiritual leader. Only God knows who. How thrilling! May He impress upon me the right spirit and the right words...what a serious endeavor!
Amy - thank you for your "who can I be an Elihu to today" comment. Loved it and God spoke to me thru you.
Have a blessed day all...Praise Him first in ALL things!
Morgen
Hey you guys :)
I have to say that I actually DIDN'T get the same stuff as everybody else, so the points about descendants and seed-planting and faithful love (continuing from yesterday) were great additions for me - thanks!
My old/new was:
Ruth 4:13 "...The Lord enabled her to become pregnant..." This seems to be a phrase that has been repeated often in the OT with regard to the blessing of a child as a reward for a woman's faith. It just spoke to me today - especially with regard to Micah (and myself as I am living w/ 2 cysts until I get insurance) - that God is in control of our bodies. Everything that happens or doesn't happen is due to His will and for His glory. Nothing (even miraculous cyst-removal) is impossible for Him - do I have the faith to trust in that?
My new was:
1 Sam 1:13 "Why be downhearted because you have no children. You have me - isn't that better than ten children?"
What I got from that was "Is He enough?" When I don't have what I want, when I want it, is God enough. Do I trust His sufficiency and sovereignty in everything to know that if I never possess the things here on earth that I think I want, will I still feel blessed? IS HE MY GOD?
Well that left me with some somber thoughts, so I'm gonna sit with that for a while.
Thank you all for your insights. Lifting up prayers for all of you and your needs. Micah is the second cyst-related prayer request that has been brought to me, and I feel God's presence in that, I'm just not sure what he's gonna do, but I am on my face nonetheless.
Love you all (send me some warm weather, we're still in the 50's!)
As I read 1 Sam. 1:1-8 about Elkanah having two wives, Hannah and Peninnah, it made me think of the story of Rachel and Leah (Gen. 29:16-31).
In today's reading it said that Peninnah had children but Hannah had no children (v.s. 2). It also said that when Elkanah gave an offering, he gave Peninnah and to all her sons and daughters, portions (v.s. 4). To Hannah he gave a worthy portion because he loved her best but the LORD had shut up her womb (v.s. 5). Because the LORD had shut up Hannah's womb it made her fret (v.s. 6).
I thought about how Jacob loved Rachel better than Leah and how God had shut up Rachel's womb but gave children to Leah (Gen. 29:30-31).
I've been discouraged for the past several days because my closest friends and even my email friends along with many of you are married and I feel so alone. My church does have a singles ministry but I haven't heard about anything they're doing and I don't really have any good friends from church who keep in touch with me outside of church. I got saved at the age of twenty and it's always been the unsaved men who were interested in me for other reasons that I won't go into. I'm now forty and have always felt like something is wrong with me. I feel like if I was living in Jacob's days my father would have to trick my sister's husband into marrying me because I'm the oldest.
Wendy, I'm praying you have a safe trip and a blessed weekend.
I'm also praying for Micca that God will heal her body. I pray this just about every day. I do know that she has had health issues dfor a while. I'm starting to cry thinking about her.
Olivia, I just read yor comment. Thank you. You gave me something to think about. Is God enough for me? I know I may be lonely at times but I'm never alone.
There's a song by Deniece Williams, I believe, that says:
No never alone. No never alone. He promised never to leave me. Never to leave me alone.
Our Dearest Jennifer Renee,
Know this you are LOVED....So much I would like to talk to you about....If you need us more Jennifer Renee know we are here.
Olivia's comment took me back to my barren years. When I didn't have what I wanted, when I want it, is God enough? There were some pretty long lonely years for me......Let me to alot of pondering too today. How did I answer this question?? I will be thinking about this all day.....But for right now I want YOU to know....Your loved and needed by many.
You are smart and talented. Can I leave you with a few quotes from Mother Teresa of calcultta...
...Even the rich are hungry for love, for being cared for, for being wanted for having someone to call their own.
...Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.
...Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.
...Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat.
...I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world.
(((((Big HUGE HUG))))) for you today from all of us.... I'm sure of that.
You just keep letting us know when you need them.
We can do no great things--only small things with great love.
(Mother Teresa)

Hi GIG's,
I'm feeling a bit off today...I think I even read the wrong reading! Yikes. However, I prayed for everyone by name this morning, and I made a copy of my list to put in my purse. I got stuck in traffic and used that time to pray -- which was probably the best thing I did all day. Rough day at work being unsuccessful with a couple of my tougher students (I work in special needs), and then I find out my daughter had a fender bender in between a fitting of her wedding gown and getting to grad school. She was probably thinking about traveling to Memphis bright and early tomorrow morning and meeting up with fiance to find someplace to live. Just a lot swirling around, including Denise in the hospital. Maybe I can read the correct reading tonight and make some comments.
Like Dawna, I am SOOOOOO excited about seeing sweet Wendy literally "face to face" this weekend at a conference. We get to spend day 100 together -- how special is that?
Love you all!
Peace and Gratitude,
Michelle in New England
Sweet Jennifer Renee, You've been in my prayers off and on today, and I wish I was there in D.C. to hug you in person. You are part of us, and we are here to encourage you whenever you need it. You are so talented and remember you are the a princess of the King, the King Most High. You are loved!
Feel our {{{{{HUGS}}}}} coming your way! God created you, and he knit you specifically the way you are and personally placed you in your mother's womb. You are wonderfully made. God saw you before you were even born. Your name is written in His Book of Life. You are precious not only to God, but to all of us. He will never leave you or forsake you. Lift up your thoughts and requests. He is listening. I'm praying that He will be everything you need. That His perfect Will, will be accomplished through you. That God will give you contentment in Him and will put people in your path that will be there to encourage you too. I'm also praying that he will sprinkle a Christian, Godly fellow, in front of you-His timing though. Oh, we will ask Him, to do what He knows is best for you, because only He knows what your tomorrow will bring. He has your best interest at heart, and He even loves you more than you could even grasp or know.
Love you sweetie-pie,
Hugs, and prayer's coming your way. Lori
Good afternoon,
One nugget highlighted:
Ruth 2:12 tells us Boaz prayed:May the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge, reward you fully for what you have done.
Indeed, the Father blessed Ruth's work with food for her and Naomi, with a husband and a son. God also answered Boaz's prayer for himself-a wife and a son, and a good harvest.
I have the prayer of Jabez hanging on my wall. I often overlook it.
He asked God to bless him, expand his territory, be present in all he did, keep him from evil, and for him to not cause pain. Notice that God answered his prayer. Wow!
"The Prayer of Jabez," by Bruce Wilkinson told about a seminary chaplain, Dr. Richard Seume who asked,"Want a bigger vison for your life? Sign up to be a gimper for God. A gimper was someone who always does a little more than what's required or expected. Jabez was more honorable than his brothers (v.9). He wanted to be more and do more for God and God granted his request."
Anyone want to be a gimper and be blessed by God? I sure do.
Redeem how I love to proclaim it!
Linda from Ark.
Hi Everyone,
Praising God today for his divine intervention. God put a walking policeman in my path to lead me to my car. It sounds small, but I get so upset when I get lost and My Father knows that and provided me help.
Jennifer Renee know that you are God's special treasure and he will supply all your need according to his riches in glory. Whether that be comfort and peace at being single or a Godly man to model the love he has for the church. The most important thing is to grow where you are planted, for such a time as this.
Please listen to this song on youtube and be encourage:

I pray the Jabez prayer over my girls ages 22 and 25. They are at that age where they want successful careers and a Boaz as well. Please add them to your prayer list.
Praying for Micca and others who have requested prayer.
Oh....... I didn't know David had two sisters. I Chron. 2:16 I am familiar with the brothers. I wonder what they were doing when Samuel came to anoint David as king.
Blessings!
Debbie - North Carolina
P.S. - Wendy, I pray God will envelope you with his presence and allow you to minister HIS heart this weekend.
Just a quick note to say that I have lifted everyones prayer needs up to the LORD. He is mighty and faithful.
Thanks so much for all of the wonderful insight and commments on todays reading. I learn so much from everyone.
And most important I would like to chime in with love for Jennifer Renee. You are soooo very precious to all of us. I look forward to see if you have posted each day. I pray that you feel our love that is being showered upon you.
Gotta go deal with some parenting stuff. Discipline is difficult to dole out but necessary. Especially when you feel like crying along with them....
Love and prayers to all,
Linda in PA
Wendy, I am praying for you!! Y'all are going to have a wonderful time! Make sure to get Michelle and Dawna in the vlog!! Fun!!
I will be lifting up Micca too. Mercy. Thanks for letting us know.
I loved the nuggets from today. I'm with Debbie--I didn't know about David's sisters either!
Hugs!
