Wendy, what wonderful news that Gabriel is home and that no cancer was found. God is truly blessing.

I ask for everyone's prayers. I've committed myself to go to my church's 8 A.M. service on Sunday. My pastor's wife said she'll pick me up at 7:15. I haven't had to get up that early since I stopped working. Our second morning service usually doesn't get out until around 2:30 but I don't know if I'll be staying for the second service.

Jennifer Renee, I don't know what time zone you are in, but right now I'm praying that you get to the 8:00 service! Please let us know how it goes.

Peace,
Michelle in New England

Jennifer Renee, I will be praying for you, too! That you will sleep peacefully and restfully, and wake up ready on time. That God will lift away any anxieties about this that will rob you of the peace he so wants to bless you with today.

Thank you Lord that you alone are in charge of time. Jennifer Renee has a plan set in place to help her get to church. You arrange all the details so that she can be at church by 8:00. Nothing is too difficult for you, dear Lord. Help her not to "fear bad news; [because she] confidently trusts you, LORD to care for her." Psalm 112:7. May she rest tonight, knowing that the shadow of your wing will protect her. In Your precious name dear Jesus, Amen.

Hugs, Lori

Brandee,I will be praying for a turn-around in John’s heart. That God will change his mind and that he will have a desire to attend tomorrow! That he will sleep and be so rested that he automatically just wakes up, wide-awake, wanting to go. I am praying hard over Will, that John - no mattter what he says, only influences Will's faith to be raised another notch. That nothing he says that may be negative, will be heard by Will's little ears. That it will just bounce right off of him. That he will be protected from the enemy. Now, I know the minute John said he would not be going to church...the enemy came in with thoughts to get you to lose your focus. That is what the enemy is best at!

Thank you dear Lord that you are working in John's life this very moment. Your desire is that he would be saved and that he would be the Spiritual Leader in this home. Lord, we so want this to happen now. We are turning this request over to you and we will not listen to the enemy as he so cleverly bombards Brandee's mind. You know when John will be saved and we trust that you do have a plan for him. At the same time you are also transforming Brandee. Let her have peace knowing that you are in charge. It's not about what we want, but it's about your precious will & your perfect timing. Give Brandee a patient heart as she waits on you to do your work. Allow your love and compassion to come out so that John is attracted to her light. Let her words be soothing and comforting to him. Let her actions be a blessing to him. Let her thoughts be obedient to you. Give her the words to say to Will, that will give him comfort knowing that what God wants right now is belief in Him. To trust God to do the work that He is doing. Lord, may your light shine so brightly in this home that John's, veil is blown away! Lord, thank you, that you are busy working in us every single day. In your precious name, dear Jesus, Amen.

Oh, my - I just filled up my coffee and then read a quick devo. that I do daily...look what it said!
HOPE
"When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer" (Psalm 94:19).
Hope is expecting something that has not yet occurred. Faith and patience keep hope alive. Have faith that God will do what he has promised, and be patient while he does it in his own way and time."
Oh, Lord, thank you for your precious Word and for your promises that we can all cling to!
Hugs, sweet Brandee, and know you are in my prayers! Lori

Lori, your gift for putting words together in glorious prayer just blows me away. As I read your words, and reread them, may God accept them as my prayers as well. Lori, for the next several hours, may the Lord bring peace to your home as you happily anticipate attending the 4:30 service with Dave. May His angels form a protective shield around Dave's heart, so that Satan has not a crack through which to enter. And may Dave be filled with the spirit at the service, and moved to open his heart to Jesus Christ today, tomorrow, and for eternity. This I pray in the name of the Lord, Amen!

Morning Everyone,
It is a rainy morning here in TN but it is suppose to be pretty again tomorrow. Thank you all for the prayers for John this weekend. Will and I stopped and prayed also just a minute ago and I told him let's pray and not say anything else to Daddy and let God work. So that is what we did :) It will all be fine even if he does not end up going. I know that God has him in the palm of His hand and that the glory that will be shown when the veil is removed will be amazing! G&P, I think the time is near as well! That is why Satan is fighting hard in my life and John's to keep him in darkness and to put things in front of me that pull me away from God's best and to not have faith. I prayed through those things this morning.

I think that is why the verse that hit me today in our reading hit me like it did. I read the whole weekend's and the verse is from tomorrow's reading.

Judges 14:5-6 "...a young lion suddenly attacked Samson...At that the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon him, and he ripped the lion's jaws apart with his bare hands."

After reading this verse I immediately stopped and my mind went to 1 Peter 5:8, "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."

When the lion attacked Samson was filled with God's Spirit so he could defeat the lion. Same for us. Satan is looking to devour us. He will attack when we least expect it, just like last night when John said he was going to stay home on Easter. In order to be ready for those attacks we also need to be filled with God's Spirit. To be walking with Him daily, in His Word every day so when those attacks come we can also defeat our lion.

When I looked up this verse I had forgotten about the "be self controlled" part. I know when I don't walk in self control then then those attacks come even more. I am opening myself up when I am not operating in that fruit that the Holy Spirit places in me. Yesterday I walked away from self control at one point, what happened? That attack. I praise the Lord He is growing me and opening my eyes to see these things so I can now be more alert.

Hope you all have a very wonderful Easter weekend. It is the best weekend of the year! We are celebrating our Risen Savior! Praise Him!

Love,
Brandee, TN

Finally now to post from our reading!

Today we read about how the Israelites worshiped other false gods, “they abandoned the LORD and no longer served him at all” (10:6). This grieved the LORD; He became angry, - the people became oppressed. (7,8) Makes me sit here and think about what happens to us when we choose not to serve the LORD with all of our heart:
*depressed
*burdened
*weighted down, weary
*sorrowful
But, finally, as they were overcome with “great distress” (9) they “cried out to the LORD for help saying, ‘We have sinned against you because we have abandoned you as our God and have served the images of Baal.’” (9 & 10)
“They pleaded with the LORD…and the Lord was grieved by their misery” (15 & 16).
Makes me think so much about when we choose to follow God. Rather than live oppressed, we live in victory – as He holds us up and never drops us, no matter what our situation is and He, so lovingly places encouraging people around us to point us back to Him. What an awesome Father we serve, GIG!
To truly let this sink in and not just “read” his Word, but, to daily, live out His Word - that is my desire!

To my sweet, twin (smile) I wish I had time to explain to you how I know without a doubt, that your encouraging words to me were straight from your Spirit! When things like this happen to me, that I know were from God, my faith increases another notch! You have know idea, but I do want to say, THANK YOU, Michelle, and thank you LORD, for speaking to me this morning! Aahh, when He pours on the sprinkles on top of the ice-cream, ya just love Him even more-if that is possible! He is sweeter than any flavorful cone!

Thank you for your prayers for our family. I have joy in my heart right now, knowing that God has a plan and that I will see His Glory in due time. His time, the best time!

Hugs, blessings, & prayers, to you all. Beautiful friends hold on to Him. May we never forget what Jesus did for us. Because of Him we can abide in God’s presence, we can be filled with the Holy Spirit, and we are never alone! We have His whispers guiding us all day long, and even counseling us when we sleep! Love you, Lori

Jennifer Renee, Brandee, Lori, I'm praying for you! I'm praying that all of you AND the pertinent husbands get to church on time with soft hearts and open ears. May TOMORROW be the day that God does great wonders in these families!

As for our reading today ... I didn't realize that the Israelites had been in the Promised Land for 300 years now. That's nearly the same length of time that they were in Egypt. What a long time to be camped out, waiting on peace in the land - which keeps coming and going due to their disobedience. Obviously someone out there was still devoted to God since they keep turning back to Him - He must be in their frame of reference somewhere - so were the priests still faithfully reading the instructions each year and holding the Passover and other festivals, or had all that gone by the wayside at this point? Makes me wonder how they reconciled their views of the Almighty God who brought them out of slavery in Egypt with the false, violent images of their neighbors ... ???

God, please keep my eyes focused on You and the cross this weekend. Help me to look neither to the right nor the left, and not to be distracted by plastic eggs, pink bunnies, or family feuds, but to remember that all of our joy and hope come from you. Amen

Dear GIGS, your sharing comments and prayers today mean more than words can convey. Lifting the needs and prayers up to the Father with praise that He always answers!

My notes today look too much like my autobiography: peace gives way to self-indulgence to sin to hardship to crying out to God for relief and repentance to God's forgiveness (again) to peace. Did the Israelites, do I, become complacent in the time of peace so that they (I) turn less to God?

Wishing you all a Blessed Easter. PTL He is risen indeed!

Gaylene

I am lifting up all the anxiety related to this weekend for my sisters. God has shown us his MIGHTY power with baby Gabe and if he can do that, SURELY he can change hearts. Just have faith that his timing is perfect. Sometimes we have to be patient and really be shown our need for his power so that in that, HIS glory is revealed. But I am praying nonetheless :)

I am a little anxious myself, as I will be making my covenant this weekend with my Savior by getting baptized tomorrow. I had been fighting the Spirit on this for a while, but God, in his loving, gracious mercy has made this as comfortable as possible. I am proud to show my rebirth into a new life with Him and promise to glorify Him with my being for the rest of my days on this earth. But I wouldn't mind some long-distance spiritual-sister support as I go into it, still a bit shakey...

What stood out to me today was in 10:16 "he was grieved by their misery." That God loves us SO much, that even when we spit in his face, when we are truly repentant and worship him alone, he cannot deny his love for us, and will rescue us from our self-dug pits of despair. His conundrum becomes even more intense - his perfect justice, yet unchanging, undying, gracious love for us - so that the only way to save our lives was to die FOR us via Christ. I don't know why, but this really hit home for me last night. Could I do the same?

Happy Easter weekend to all.

Israel had 12 judges we are reading about:
1.Othniel ruled 40 yrs.
2&3. Ehud and Shamgar ruled 80 yrs.
4. Deborah and Barak ruled 40 yrs.
5. Gideon ruled 40 yrs.
6. Tola ruled 23 yrs.
7. Jair ruled 22 yrs.
8. Jephthah ruled 6 yrs.
9. Ibzan ruled 7 yrs.
10. Elon ruled 10 yrs.
11. Abdon ruled 8 yrs.
12. Samson ruled 20 yrs.
Isn't God awesome in His planning?

When King Ammon wanted the Israelite's land:
Matthew Henry says we owe God honor and respect; we have the right to possess what He gives us, receive it from Him, use it for Him, keep it for His sake, part with it when He calls for it. He has given it to us to possess, not to enjoy. He Himself only must be enjoyed.

That puts a new perspective on things. I need to hold things less tightly, as Corrie Ten Boome said. It doesn't hurt so much when God requires it.

Jephthah was Gilead's son and Manasseh's grandson. His half brothers didn't want J. around until they were in trouble. Is that us? Often times people call on God for help when in trouble, instead of daily praising, thanking, and loving Him in the good times. Ouch!

It turned out benificial for Jephthah to have been listening when he had family history 101.

Let the Lord, who is judge, decide today which of us is right. (verse 27) The Spirit of the Lord was on J. so He didn't have to make that vow-victory was a sure thing.

M. Henry said his daughter spent her life serving God in the tabernacle. Human sacrifice was forbidden in God's laws.

Ladies who waited a long time to be mothers: Isaac, Joseph,Samson, Samuel, John the Baptist. We need to encourage the ladies we know who are waiting. They had an influence on their son to surrender to God's will for their life. What an honor to have your son in the ministry. Still praying for mine.

Even with Samson's weaknesses evident, God's Spirit was upon him, to accomplish His will concerning the Philistines and Israel. He killed more when he died than he had during his entire lifetime. (16:30)

Victory in Jesus. Sunday's here-Resurrection Day!

Love Ya,
Linda from Ark.

Hi Ladies,

It's beautiful here in Ottawa, Canada. 27 Celcius - a new record! Seriously - its usually slushy, snowy or rainy this time of year!

Thank you to Rhonda for your prayers the other day - they made a big difference and I am feeling a lot lighter in heart despite the difficult circumstances. Trusting God to help me build bridges and soften hardened hearts.

Have a wonderful Easter weekend!

Well happy weekend to my GIG's! Yeah, you betcha!
Olivia - what better day could there be to be baptized in Christ's death and resurection than Easter! I will say a prayer for you that the flutters in your stomach will turn to peace.

Prayers for hubby's to come and know Jesus. Waiting on His wonders!

I too read Saturday and Sunday's readings today. I think my Sunday looks kinda busy and I had more time to read it slowly today.

I wondered why Jephthah made such an indulgent vow? I read where his name means, "he opens" and stands to mean he opened his mouth before he thought. What a difficult vow to keep, but in honoring God he did. His daughter was a woman of great dignity and grace.

In Judges 13:12, Samson's father Manoah says to the angel, "when your words come true". I marked this "faithful" in my margin. He counted on what the angel said to be the truth of what was to happen. May I have this kind of faith too.

"She was tormenting him with her nagging" stood out to me also...my husband is currently reading "Wild At Heart" by John Eldredge...and has been sharing how much truth he is finding in the book about men's and women's natural God-given roles, and how from the very beginning, after Adam and Eve sinned, women were cursed with the desire to control their men. Convicted! And here today I read this verse and stand convicted again. Lord, help me to shut my lips and concentrate on You.

The Good Friday service I experienced last night was wonderful and I am still pondering it today. Looking forward to His Resurrection tomorrow morning! Praise Him first in ALL circumstances!

Purified in His blood He shed on the cross for me, and seeing His wonders!
Morgen

Olivvia, I am praying for you that God will give you peace about getting baptized tomorrow. What a wonderful day to do this on.

Michelle, I'm in D.C. so that's Eastern time zone. The time that shows up on my comments is the actual time.

Thank you everyone for your prayers about me getting up and getting to church. The interesting thing that I have found is that when I get up before 6:30 A.M. I seem to have more energy during the day. After church I'll be home by myself. I'm not seeing my family this year. I'll let you know how things go tomorrow.

I've been praying fo you alls husbands.

Keep my dad in your prayers. He has something in his left kidney that was causing him a lot of pain. He went to the hospital on Thursday and they tried to get it out but the thing broke into pieces so they put a tube from his kidney to his bladder so the pieces of whatever is in his kidney can come out. He'll get the tube removed next week.

Yep, the enemy is working double time today. Praying for everyone to have the armor of God as stated in Ephesians.

Jennifer Renee, I pray that you wake up bright and early to make it to the service. It's great that your Pastor's wife is willing to pick you up. Praying for your father that whatever is causing him pain will go away.

Olivia, congratulations, girl! How awesome is it that your baptism is Resurrection Sunday. How fitting!

In today's reading I read a different take on Jephthah's vow. Most of the teachers focus on whether he sacrificed his daughter literally or figuratively. As someone mentioned above, it is widely accepted that she was sacrificed figuratively and that in some KJV Judges 11:31 says 'or' instead of 'and' "...shall surely be the Lord's OR I will offer it up for a burnt offering." Meaning if an animal came to meet him, it would surely be a burnt offering.
There is another side to this. Jon Courson focused on Jephthah's sacrificial commitment. And based on our Joshua Challenge, it caught my attention.

3 things:
1. Sacrificial commitment moves the heart of God. God not only responds to it but requires it. Commitment is necessary bec it cures complacency.
2. Commitment rewards eternally. Whatever you commit to Jesus Christ will be kept for you and even given back to you in eternity (2 Tim 1:12) The smallest commitment of energy, time, money, talents, abilities or gifts will impact our capacity to enjoy eternity.
3. Commitment is a response to Calvary. Why is it reasonable to commit ourselves to developing a walk with Jesus? Because of what He's done for us. Great is the mystery of godliness that God was manifest in the flesh - that God became Man and hung on the Cross of Calvary.

"Keep your commitments precious people, and you will find yourself walking in the footsteps of that hero of faith, Jephthah. Oh it will cost you. Yes there will be some pain, some hurt, some sacrifice. But you'll find them far outweighed by the life and love of Jesus Christ burning in your heart, the anointing of the Spirit upon your life and the blessing of God upon your service." (p.775)

Have a blessed Resurrection Day everyone. Looking forward to reading the big and small miracles God is doing among us.

Today is my first Overview of New Testament class over at Koinonia Institute w/ Chuck Missler. Turns out children under 18 are free to enroll if the parent is also a member. So I enrolled my 9 year old. He always listens with me but now he's official. :D

Jennifer Renee, praying before I head to bed that you will have a peaceful sleep, and awake calm and joyful as you head to church to celebrate the Resurrection. Prayers also for your dad, that his pains would cease, and for his doctors to know the right decisions to make regarding his health.

Paola, bless you for providing Easter hospitality to your husband's family. All of us who have hosted holiday gatherings know how exhausting and riddled with anxiety those times can be.So, for everyone hosting a gathering for Easter, I pray that the Lord gives you what you need to be victorious tomorrow. Psalm 28:6-7 "Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy.
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.

Love you all,

Peace,

Hi Ya’ll ~ Now, doesn’t that just sound like Wendy?! Smile
Wanted to thank you all for your prayers regarding Dave, the enemy kept his distance this time, thankfully, as I was busy focusing on God all day long! A couple of times I saw him try to poke inside, but I was on guard. Whew, he can be sly. The worship center was packed when we entered, which almost got me off-guard. We had to sit on the far side, which I’ve never done, ya know me, creature of habit! But, watching my fellows, I knew that any seat was the same in their eyes, they just have that ability to flow - where, hmm, I don’t! So, I sat there thinking I can’t even believe myself concerned about where we are sitting for Pete’s sake! My thoughts! Straight ahead was a very large screen, so it all worked out fine…aahhh, the service was so good. The pastor tied in a story from the O.T. and discussed the battles and warfare-great for “men!” –and told about Jesus on the cross, and the celebration of His resurrection. Dave was very pleasant, he did not say much, but I could tell he was listening intently. I was trying to sneakily watch him out of the corner of my eye! Ha-ha! I have not pounced on him yet, with any questions! Smile… And, I won’t, well maybe just a few, in a couple of days! God‘s way, the best way.

So, Jennifer Renee, I’m just lifting up prayers that you’re up and rested and ready to go tomorrow morning. I’m praying for your father. May God’s love over-come you tomorrow and be everything you need. I’m sorry you won’t be with family tomorrow-ya want a couple of teenager’s? just kidding!!!

Paola, may your light shine, shine, shine, as you serve your family tomorrow with love and compassion.

Oh, Liz, yes we do miss you!

Olivia, as I witnessed a special baptism earlier I was thinking about you doing this tomorrow! God will be right there with you. What a beautiful day to do this. Indeed, on Resurrection Day!

Karen in OR & Karen in Basel, praying for you both as you travel and attend family services. Praying that God will give you strength to meet each day’s needs. May your light shine even through your tears. Looking forward to your return.

Happy Easter my dear Bible-studying friends! Thank you, Wendy for leading us through His Word. Hugs, Lori

Lori,
Praise God that Dave went to church with you! That is AWESOME! Oh and I can picture you trying to sneak a peek at him during the service as I have done that myself. My DH said he's not coming with us. Which is fine (ok, not really) with me - that's his decision. He said he does not need to go to church to hear from God at which point my son piped up with the complete verses on Hebrews about not forsaking the assembling of ourselves. :D DH did ask for prayer this morning re direction in his job. While we can't force him to come with us, my son and I will pray for him like we always do.

Enjoy your Sunday dear ones. Paola I hoped you survived your Easter prep with the in-laws. That can be challenging.

He is Risen Friends! I wanted to tell everyone Happy Easter Sunday and thank you for praying for John. He is going with us today! God got me to a place where I was able to pray that He work this out which ever way will bring John closer to Him, whether that be stay home or go. I was fine with either. I am praying God to move in his heart today in a powerful way.

Lori, so glad you guys had a great time last night and I will catch up with you later :) God is working on Dave, he is close dear prayer-friend. It is going to happen!

Happy Resurrection Day, sisters! I'm @ our church bookstore waiting for my little one to pick a book. He and I attended the 10:30 service. My older son was able to see part of the service thur webcast and even saw us. I love technology. DH opted to stay home that's why when pastor did the altar call, I couldn't stop cying wishing DH was here. But I know God can reach him in His own way.

Brandee, Praise God!!!! I look forward to your report. I pray today is the day you can have chocolate again.

Have a blessed day, everyone. Love to all of you whom I have never met face to face.

What a great day this has been today! Our services were awesome and we had a lot of visitors - thank you Jesus! Brandee so excited for you- what a special day for you with John. Olivia - Happy Baptism Resurrection Day! I was clapping my hands when I read your comments. Jennifer Renee did you make it? Our sermon today was about being passionate for God and living every day like it is your last day! I had a recommitment time with God last week and I am so on fire I cannot stand it. I want to shout it from the rooftops - HE IS ALIVE! Don't you feel Him? Don't you see Him? Please pray for my 2 sons. They were in church today but I want them so much to be walking closer to God. He sure has brought them through some things and I cannot believe they don't just thank Him everyday. Hope everyone had a wonderful today. Live like today is your last day and go tell HE IS ALIVE!!

I know it's late, but I had to update! Thank you thank you thank you all for your loving prayers!! I felt led to fast and pray today, and went on a 4 hour walk with God this morning (my baptism was at the 5pm service) and just sat in the weight of what this covenant means for me and my life - now my new life. When I got home I ended up in Eph 4:17-5:20 about what it means to live as a child of the Light. So when I got to church I was informed that I would be sharing my testimony before getting dunked!!! HOWever, I praise Him that I didn't have time to prepare, really, because I gave it up to him and asked him to speak through me and give me peace (I get shakey and red and splotchy in the spotlight). And you know what? He did it far better than I could have expected! The Redemption Class (that I just finished) leader was on one side of me with another pastor who I don't know well on my other, and from then on, I knew He was going to make it awesome. My voice was controlled and even and I didn't shake or get hot or blush. Afterward, everyone kept telling me that my testimony was great and that I seemed so calm giving it. He is so so so so so good.

Praise his good works!!!! Both in my life today, but also in all of yours - Brandee, how exciting!! And Jennifer Renee, (praise in advance) that you made it on time and got a special blessing from him, Lori for your lesson about it not mattering where you sat :) And G&P, praise Him for his strength in you, that he is longsuffering and knows your desire for your DH and is using him, you, your kiddo for his glory. Patience is something I struggle with.

So I will say a goodnight prayer for all of you. This was by far, the best Easter of my life.

hugs!!!

Hi Everyone
i found this a good one this weekend.
judges11:24 You keep whatever your god Chemosh gives you, and we will keep whatever the Lord our God gives us.
i am so glad for what our saviour has given us, the greatest gift of knowing Him as our Lord and saviour. As we remind ourselves of His death and resurrection, lets be forever grateful.
i have been following the readings quietly and i am so glad for what the Lord is doing among us. thank you Lord for our little baby Gabriel, surely You are the Lord, our Healer. Thank you Lord for our loved ones that you are working through and In, for You alone are the Lord, our saviour. Thank you lord for our dear sis Wendy, For you alone are the Lord that anoints her with oil so that she has a word for each one of us in and out of season.
Thank you lord for our sis Lori that you use so powerfully everyday to bring your word to us. For you are her Banner.
Thank you Lord for what you are doing in Brandees home, you alone Will bring salvation to this household. Thank you Lord for all the other sisters that you use everyday to speak words of life to one another.
Amen
