"The sun stay in the middle of the sky, and it did not set as on normal day. There has never been a day like this one before or since, when the LORD answered such a prayer." Joshua 10: 13b-14
My Take Aways: Something Old:
"There has never been a day like this one before or since, when the LORD answered such a prayer." I can declare this truth every time He answers every prayer I pray. Every prayer He answers is as miraculous as holding the sun in the sky.
Something New:
Joshua 11:15
As the LORD had commanded His servant Moses... Joshua is still as Moses had commanded. He is still respecting Moses as a leader. I love that!
Joshua 11:15
As the LORD had commanded His servant Moses... Joshua is still as Moses had commanded. He is still respecting Moses as a leader. I love that!
Something to Do:
Thank God for the days that aren't "normal." Thank Him for being the "Keeper of the My Clock."

Beautiful day in your neighborhood, Wendy. I thought I heard the birds, too. Today's topic is very timely (ahem, pun intended) as it is 9:30 pm and I'm in the middle of cooking a chicken dish. Why so late? My sons and I went to see a movie. Special request from my spring-breaking freshman so even if I didn't feel like it, off to the cinema we went. Of course the cooking didn't get finished and I have dirty dishes iin the sink. We have a friend of his fr San Francisco sleeping over and my DH's flight fr Dallas was delayed by 3 hours. I'm picking him up in an hour. I know the Lord stretched this day for me.
Will post after I do the reading. Goodnight. Expect God's miracles.
Wendy,
Wow, I have been struggling with time so much lately, your post and God's Timing on Time is wonderful.
Thanks! Good Night and I'll try to comment more in the morning.
Blessings,
Lynn
Thanks Wendy and Grace-and-Peace. I hope (GP) that you got some rest after that long day. I am traveling again and my access to the blog is not so good as the connection here is slow, so I will just quickly say the vlog today was great!
I too have been facinated by God's control of time in my life and in the Bible. There is another part of the Bible where God makes the sun move backwards. :) He supernaturally multiplies, our time, our resources and our talents when we call on Him. So many times I need to remember that! He is the Almighty God, the one who made and controls the heavens and the earth. There is nothing too great for Him (or as Wendy said awhile ago, too wonderful for Him) to do! He heals the sick, He takes care of the poor, He provides for those He loves, and in His Strength, He brings them in to His holy dwelling.
I hope today remains a beautiful day for you all! I am in Interlaken Switzerland and the sun has been shining since Tuesday. The weather is warm and the mountains are SO MAJESTIC! I love to look at them and think of God's holy mountain.
Be very blessed today,
Karen
Yes I'm up doing my reading for the day and it's after 3:00 A.M. I can't sleep so I thought I'd read, rather listen, to the Bible.
As I read I noticed all the kings that Joshua defeated. Once the sin that had been commited was delt with God helped Israel fight and win their battles. One thing that came to my mind, I would have said it yesterday if I had thought about it, is that God is everywhere at once. He sees all. He knows all. We can't hide anything from God. For years I've heard my pastor talk about repenting daily for our sins but I haven't always done this. I'm going to do this from now on. Lord help me. I not only ask God to forgive me for the things I know I've done, said, and thought that were wrong but I ask for forgiveness for the things I've done, said, and thought that I didn't know were rong.
God helped Joshua fight natural battles but God will help us fight our Spiritual battles against Satan. My mind went to Ephesians 6:12
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Over the past year I've had many Spiritual battles but God was with me through each one. It's only by the grace of God that I'm still alive and haven't done damage to myself. Without going into any details I've had to fight to keep from trying to hurt myself. God is with me and all of us in our battles just like He was with Joshua.
Blessings to you all and praises to God for the day He has given us.
Early Morning Everybody,
Wendy...Thanks...Time is in his hands...Just need to say this...a little more often throughout my day. I too yesterday took my bible study outside. I needed his sunshine and his voice yesterday. Be still and just listen.
Karen...Missed you yeaterday.
Jennifer Renee...Your doing great...Very Nice Nugget!! Same thing I received from it about our sins. Take our hands and keep fighting the battles...Remember he tells us alot to be Strong and courageous. Your one strong trooper:)...your a blessing to us...never know who might need to hear this today.
Michelle New England...Still have my arms around you and your sister Denise.
Stephanie Mommy Brian...How is your Mom doing? Been missing Linda.
My Nugget:
These words from God to Moses were brought back to me:
“Though now you are old and advanced in years, a very large part of the land still remains to be conquered”…
Rhonda what are the dangers of unconquered territory in your life??
The Lord was trying to teach them that they could not rest on their past successes and victories-and that if these remaining nations were not rotted of the land they would in time become pockets of resistance which would prove to be trouble for Israel later on.
That got me to thinking — aren’t there yet blessings promised to us by Christ that have not yet been gained by us? Additionally, I think that we all would agree that we have “enemies” (sins) that we have yet to conquer and “drive out of the land.” (Our lives)
Joshua was very precise in detailing which territories still had to be conquered — and we must ask God to reveal the “unclaimed territory” and “pockets of resistance” with just that same kind of precision.
Still purifying...Singing:
'Jesus let me walk this lonely hour with you under the weight of the wood.
Freedom can be found....lay it down...under the weight of the wood.
called to greater freedom..
Rhonda
Thank you Rhonda and Jennifer Renee for your insights this morning. I came up dry except for one somewhat irreverent thought. Perhaps some of our unsaved husbands would enjoy reading the Old Testament if we told them how many fierce battles there are. Today's reading made me feel like I was "watching" the Military Channel or the History Channel, which my husband loves. Just a thought, ladies, ha ha ha!
Peace,
Michelle in New England
Funny thought, Michelle! I was reading it thinking - this makes the movie Braveheart look like nothing!! Haven't had a chance to listen to the vlog yet & must get ready for school, but I just wanted to pop in and say hello to everyone.
Lori - thanks for your words of encouragement yesterday about the sweets. I don't have any health issues related to eating too many sweets, luckily, but I feel like I am just too tied to them. That sounds so crazy when I type it... Anyway - 1 day down w/ success.
Wendy, I love the challenge and the Psalm 139 words that you have encouraged us to pray. I feel like, for the first time, I am actively looking for God's work in my life - expecting to see it - as I go about my days. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning! God woke me up early and has me alert much earlier than normal (for me). Loved the vlog, Wendy, on time. God showed me this morning that HE will fight my daily battles with satan, weight loss, finances, just as He fought the battles for Joshua. I thank Him for that nugget this morning.
This was kind of a hard reading with all the killing over and over in the towns. But God is having to purge sin from the land. In verse 18 it said that Joshua was waging war for a long time to accomplish this. Joshua had the task of defeating the decendants of Anak (bad group). Joshua was doing what God had commanded through Moses. And Joshua respected Moses' instruction and God's leading enough to do what he was instructed to do. It doesn't say he liked killing all those people, but he was doing what was instructed by God. The verse also stuck our for me was that when he had done all that, that the land finally had rest from war. That had to be a joyous day.
Not done reading all your comments today, but just wanted to share what I got from today's lesson. Thanks!
Thanks Wendy!
My nugget today was also how powerful the Lord is with time. And I thought if He can do that with the sun and the moon- how much more in control is the Lord of our days when we surrender to him!
Have a great Thursday everyone!
Kimberly
Oh, Wendy, I loved seeing you outside! A glimpse of NC for my eyes! As I was reading today's chapters, the part you spoke on today, popped out at me, too. In my margin I wrote: Joshua praying for a miracle and receiving one! It was like God was allowing us to read about a miracle today, knowing that each of us "have our own" miracles that we are praying to God about right now! We're praying, and believing and anticipating. We have joy, knowing, that yes-he has heard our every request, and that he controls the time. In His good time all things will work out for the best. This brings me such peace.
My old: "Let the sun stand still" is a phrase that I have said to the LORD at times this year. As many of you know, I help my unsaved, 93 (soon to be 94!) grandma and mother. There are other extended ones in the family that I serve also, but not to the same degree...God allows them all to be "needy" :) at different times, and I have thanked him so much for this...but, at times when there is enough going on in our own home, and the extended family seems to be taking over my time, I will 'want' to feel stressed. God, is so gracious, as he has led me to turn it over to him early in the morning. As I chat with him, and tell him about everything that needs to be done that day, and for him to help me get done the things he feels is important, he does! I truly do believe he increases our day. I do know, that over the past several years, he started getting me up earlier. -Really for know reason, I just began waking up, rested. This was Him...giving me more time before the sun came up, to spend alone with him. He is amazing.
"The LORD, the God of Israel, was fighting for his people (10:42) and He is our God too, and daily he works along side us. He is always working in us.
To think about: When we obey him, and we read his word daily, like he asks us to, he gives us strength when we feel weak! He is our strength, to fight our every single "battle." And, our glorious Father gives us victory over Satan-who wants to control us! Satan opposes God and what He is doing in our lives, so Satan sets out to stop each and every victory that God wants us to have!
When I ponder over that, it just makes me want to focus on God all the more...to praise Him and thank Him for EVERYTHING-the easy stuff and the hard stuff! I'm loving him to pieces right this very minute as I type this! And, I'm just loving you all to pieces to! I'm so happy that I've found encouraging sisters that love God's Word, and love to talk about God's Word! Praise you Father for bringing me to group of lovely ladies, and for filling Wendy up with your Holy Spirit. You are giving her just the words we need to hear. Hugs & prayers coming your way from sunny AZ, Lori
Aahh, 9:30 P.M. G. & P. and you're cooking (!) you're a night owl! :) -nope, you're just being flexible and rolling with the schedule!
Oh, Brandee-thank you so much for telling us about the Gilal-I felt like I was listening to Beth!
Michelle, so happy to read about Denise. "For nothing is impossible with God" (Luke 1:37). Yes, we could be grand friends, but, I'm enjoying being your sister right now, and thinking about it, Denise is feeling like part of the family as well! :)
Jennifer sweetie, wow-you're becoming our posting queen! I love it! Watch out, as you pray to your Father to reveal the sin...yikes He will. Just when my pride starts slipping in and I'm feeling pretty washed (ha!) he ever so gently brings some new sin to the surface! And, sometimes it is not 'ever-so-gently!' But, it is worth it, because that is how we walk with him and grow closer to him in our relationship. I am praying that he would give you peace to sleep as well, as I know you were concerned about this earlier in the year.
Lynn, I'm lifting you up in prayer this morning as I've missed your golden nuggets!
Kate, ONE day down...watch out for the enemy, because he does not want you to have two days of victory! We are ALL in your shoes. Sweets and girls just go together, I'm afraid! But, I've learned that when we have a plan, and we chat to God about our plan first thing...and we cling to a verse all day long...and when we start to feel weak, and think a cookie will strengthen us, we immediately, lift up a prayer...and say, Lord, thank you for the strength in me...You are sweeter than a cookie and I'm seeking today to walk in victory. You, LORD are living inside me. You paid a very high price for this and I'm so thankful that your temple is inside me. I want to honor you with my body. Today, I want to walk in victory feeling strong, healthy, and vibrant.
The enemy wants us tired, sluggish, and eating a box of cookies-seriously! You know how we feel after we've eaten something...that's how the enemy wants us to feel! Because when we feel like that, we are not in the mood to 'further his kingdom.'
Bye-bye, everyone! Off to walk now, and then enjoy my Beth Moore, Bible Study with my sisters-love Thursday mornings! Hugs again! Lori
Good Morning! It is a bright beautiful day here n FL. (we are visiting our daughter here) The Lord has been nudging me to wake up early to spend time with Him. It has been a blessing in my life ever since I started doing this. I am praying now to focus on Him & Him alone! I tend to jump from one thing then the other. I am learning to be still & hear Him.
Wendy I loved your v-log today. I think of myself as a sinner not worthy of anything. The reminder that I am holy because He is Holy helps to put things in order.
My nugget today is in Joshua 10:14 'the Lord answered such a prayer' Prayers are answered. That is comforting to know. I need to be still (do ya think He is telling me something? lol) & know they will be answered. Answered in God's time! Which is the right time.
Blessings & Peace Mary
Good morning, again.
Karen, thanks. Safe travels to you.
It was indeed the longest day for me. :) And it certainly felt like it while waiting in baggage claim. I read the readings then about Joshua's conquest of the kings. And I looked over at my DH who was tired and not saying much to his very tired wife who had a long day, I thought if God could help Joshua conquer all these kings, He can certainly conquer my DH's heart. Like Joshua, I need to listen to His words: Do not be discouraged, for I go before you. I am so glad our God is so patient. He kept telling Joshua to not be discouraged which means Joshua became discouraged. God did not say "This is the fourth time I have told you not to be discouraged - and you still are. Why are you not listening to me? You know what? Forget it!" No, thank goodness He didn't. He was patient with him. I need to extend the same grace and patience to those around me.
Before bed I looked at Halley's Bible Handbook to see what he had to say in these chapters. Aside from saying "GOD did it," he cited archeological evidence in the Canaanite region which showed Baal, Ashtera statues. Also gruesome remnants of child sacrifices. It was also discovered that they offered their first born children and mixed their bodies in the foundation of their home to bring good luck to the family. (That is just sickening.) It is that kind of idolatry and pagan practices that God wanted to wipe out before Israel conquered the land. Not that God owes us an explanation but now I understand why He ordered them not to leave any survivors.
Lastly, let me share from Jon Courson's commentary. (To those who already have the book it's on page 670.) On Joshua 10:14 re the long day.
"...We see Joshua doing 4 things that not only elongated his day but also ensured his victory.
1. Joshua believed God's Word. He acted on God's promise of victory.
2. Joshua did his best. He traveled quickly all night to reach the Gibeonites...the Lord expects me to partner with Him in getting the job done. A lot of people believe a Scripture but never stay up all night and march out to see it come to pass.
3. Joshua called on God (v. 12)
4. Joshua spoke in faith...it's one thing to believe the Word, to do my best and to pray. It's another to go on record before my family or the congregation and say "The victory is won."
Joshua 10:21-25 where Joshua tells the men to fear not.
"In chapter 1 God tells Joshua to fear not. And now as time goes on Joshua who has lived this out is now telling those with him not to be afraid. Because Joshua has seen God do exactly what He promised, he could teach with authority that which he had experienced personally. The best thing to share to your kids/Sunday School/Bible Study are the things you've found to be true in your own life...What have you lived out? What have you been through? What's real to you personally? That's where the power is because that's where the Word becomes incarnational, tangible, touchable."
Have a blessed day everyone!
Loving the vlog today about time. I am a to-do list girl. One my refrigerator I have a magnetic weekly planner where I write down everything from cleaning the bathrooms to exercise to appointments. It helps me stay organized and I like checking things off knowing I got things accomplished. It is my OCD coming out :) I read in Stormie Omartian's "The Power of a Praying Woman" several years ago about praying for God to help us put our day in the right order. When I get up and have my prayer time I always pray that prayer. He knows what the day holds and if I don't get everything checked off it is ok. He knows what I need to get done that day and some days it does seem as if He increases my time and I am done with everything before I expected to be. Marybeth Whalen write a wonderful devotion for P31 not too long ago about asking God to just "help me do the next thing." I loved that and have always remembered that phrase. I tried to find it in the archives but can not remember what it is called. If someone knows maybe you can post the link. It is a great devo to read based on what we are talking about today and our time.
You ladies have a fabulous day!
Love you friends,
Brandee
PS Jan I loved your comments last night! I read them when I got up this morning. One Monday when you are visiting your daughter you need to let me know and I will drive down there to see you :) I am about 50 minutes from where she is!
Michelle...First...PTL that things are going well for Denise...I will keep her in my prayers...Second...I totally agree about men enjoying this part of the bible. Our Pastor spoke on this exact passage a couple of weeks ago and really glossed over the battle parts...to emphasize the trusting God part. My sweet husband did not know about the battles so I told him...It would make a great movie :-)
Judith...I am praying for your son and his family...My son has been on unemployment for a few weeks now and the family is doing ok...such difficult times right now.
I was a bit concerned about all the killing of everyone (I certainly would not question God) but after further reading I found out that the people of Makkedah meant they were devoted to death for their wicked deeds...The Israelites could not live with the people who were living in the Promised Land because they were wicked and would influence them...Just my understanding...correct me if I am mistaken...
Have a beautiful day
Blessings,
Sue
Ok, I tried one more time to find the devo and I got it :)

Good Morning everyone!
Wow, Wendy, that was so good! I also had highlighted that verse because I remembered learning about it early on in my walk with the Lord and it had always stuck with me how the Lord had made time stand still. So sometimes when I find myself in a panic as I'm trying to get something done, I'll ask the Lord to make time stand still so that I can accomplish my to do list. And amazingly He does it for me, He stretches out my day so that I can do what I need to do. How awesome is our God!!
Something else that struck me in today's reading was Joshua 10:7-8:
So Joshua and his entire army, including his best warriors, left Gilgal and set out for Gibeon. "Do not be afraid of them," the LORD said to Joshua, "for I have given you victory over them. Not a single one of them will be able to stand up to you."
Even though this was really the Gibeonites battle to begin with and even though the Israelites didn't consult the LORD before befriending them, God still gave them favor. When I first read this, the thought they came to my carnal mind was "Well I didn't tell you to hang out with these people!" But our God is not like that. He is merciful!
My other nugget today was Joshua 10:25:
"Don't ever be afraid or discouraged," Joshua told his men. "Be strong and courageous, for the LORD is going to do this to all of your enemies."
Wow, what a powerful statement! Let us not ever be afraid or discouraged for the LORD has already defeated our enemies! Praise God!
Ladies, let's walk in our VICTORY!
Have a blessed day!

Good afternoon everyone! I had a couple of things that God tugged at my heart today. Joshua 10:8, that God has given us victory over ALL of our enemies. Not a single one of them will be able to stand up to me. Thank you LORD :) I need to face my "enemies" courageously and walk in victory. Also the verse about the sun and moon standing still and staying in place until the nation of Israel had defeated its enemies. Hmm, am I standing still and staying in place in until I defeat my enemies. Time to get up and conquer my enemies.
Blessings,
Linda
It's a beautiful sunny day here in Iowa!!
I just got caught up on all the comments from the last few days. I am excited for the Joshua Challenge but also fearful of failing.
Kate-I too feel led to give up sweets at least until Easter. I just feel like some days I think way too much about them and then when I do eat them I feel guilty and that affects my mood...so I am 1 day "sugar free" and will have to do a lot of praying to get through it.
Also, I do in home care for seniors and have a lot of down time while at clients homes. I was spending the majority of my time either reading books or on the computer. God has led me to not read the books that I have been reading lately...which I am right in the middle of one right now. But I am going to be obedient and not finish it. Also not spending so much time on facebook. Instead I will spend more time in prayer and fellowship with Him and more studying of His Word.
As for today's reading, I am having trouble with all the killing and violence. It's hard to imagine that God would tell them to kill everyone (including children). I just can't comprehend it. Can anyone shed some light on that?
Wishing everyone a wonderful day!!
Mercy! What a reading! Kate, I thought about "Braveheart" as well when I read over all of the violence.
Oh, Grace and Peace--that portion of what you researched just broke my heart...how terrible the sacrifices were. I can't imagine the sadness and disgust that God had for these children of His. But, also reminding myself that a sin is a sin makes me wonder how He feels about some of the things that I do! Even when I consider them small...He does not. Lots of nuggets here.
Wendy, I love the verse that you chose-I had forgotten about this tucked away in Joshua and loved reading it!!
Y'all have a great day! I am off to help my son get fitted for a tux after school today! Prom is just around the corner!
Hugs!
Susan
I love that God will rearrange things for us - even to changing natures natural patterns for a bit! Isn't it awesome, too, that He answered Joshua's prayer there? Prayer DOES matter and it DOES make a difference!
Grace and Peace, I was having a bit of trouble with all the battle scenes and killing until reading your post. I realize that they had to be obedient and that the 'locals' were sinful, but it sure helps me to understand better after knowing exactly what they did! I wish I were more trusting ... need to work on that!
To those of you fasting from sugar right now .... I hope you are more awake than I! I actually think I'm going to keep going with the sugar thing for a bit after Easter, but currently allergies are making me sleepier than ever. I only have allergies in this town so I'm new to all of this - I didn't grow up here. Any good allergy solutions out there? I've felt for days the way that someone said you feel after eating cookies - sluggish and sleepy - only I didn't eat them!
Anyway, I'm off to think some more about the concept of time standing still and to pray for our Joshua Challenge. I can't wait to read what happens!
Good afternoon Ladies!
New: Joshua 10:11. The sun is standing still and hail is falling! Talk about thinking the world is coming to an end!! "Hail killed more of the enemy than Israel killed with the sword." Wow. That must have been large hail. Since the Israelites are chasing the enemy down the road I'm assuming the hail was all around them, too. And that the Lord is protecting them from the hail. Pretty cool!!
Old: Do not be afraid. Josh. 10:7, 25; 11:6. I'm glad they needed to be told a lot not to fear because I need to hear it a lot, too.
Do: Careful obedience (after studying all God's commands) resulted in destruction of their enemies. But it took a long time. I shouldn't expect victory to be quick or without a fight. Josh. 11:5, 18; 8:34; 1:6-9.
About time - a visual cartoon for you. Panel one, a young boy looks wistfully at his father with baseball glove in hand. "Dad, will you play catch with me." Dad replies, "Maybe later, I'm busy right now just not enough time." Panel two - same young boy looks up at his mother who is busy cooking at stove "Mom, can we read together after supper" Mom replies " I just don't think I have time with all I have to do." Last panel - much older couple at table grey haired - out the window you see same boy, now grown, all packed up for college and sprinting to car full of friends. Father says to Mother -"Should we call him back? NOW we have time......."
With all the time I spend with older people, never once have I heard anyone say - "Gee, I wish I had spent more time at work."
I am soooo guilty of this. But I can't turn back the clock and call out - I want a do over!.
Blessings and prayers for all.
Dixie
Wendy, loved seeing your sunny yard! I thought the plane going by was outside my house. We live VERY close to an airport so it was a logical assumption. :)
I have also given up computer time for the Joshua Challenge. I'm not blogging, reading blogs (other than this one), or on Facebook until after Easter. I'm praying about what kind of boundaries I need to put on my computer time.
Rhonda, thanks for asking about my mom (Linda in Ark.). I spoke with her Tuesday and she's doing fine. She babysits my 2 yr old niece during the day, every other week and this is an Addi week AND she spent most of last week in California, so I think she's still trying to catch up with life.
Speaking of life, my 3 yr old girlie just crawled up beside me with a book. I don't want to be guilty of Dixie's cartoon so I'm off to read Dr. Seuss. :)
Dixie...I loved that. I needed to read this right now. Feeling kind of bumbed...I am a stay at home Mom...Just returning home from helping my parents with a project...and just today had someone ask me "What do I do all day?"...I get asked this question so often?....I could just scream.
I just need some understanding...So many could be that parent...but choose to work to get away from their kids....Brings me to this song by casting crowns (I think)...(When all they really wanted was You). Most of these parents could too. Money is no object. The one whom said it to me could. I just bit my tongue and don't say anything. Try to keep the peace. I guess I have before....but it seems to go over their heads.
Thanks for posting this Dixie....Your a sweetheart!! I guess I have to keep on keeping on:) ....give it my full 100%.
God Bless You...You made my day.
Rhonda
Stephanie's Mommy Brian...Your a "Great Leader"...Thank You for doing what your doing...take care of that little girl...those years fly by.
we were typing at the same time.
Rhonda
Spending time as God would have us do, instead of how we want to... for me this is a lesson I am slowly learning the older I grow. Today, I spent it with my mom, took her out to KFC and she was so happy to go, commenting how she hadn't been there in so long and how if I don't take her she doesn't get to go. I had such a good time with her and wish I could go more. Try to take her somewhere at least once a week, but do live a distance from her and with work, school, and other excuses............ time doing what God wants me to do....ouch.
Nugget for today: In every battle that the Israelites were victorious, the credit was given to God (like Joshua 10:30). Do I give the credit for the victories in my life, or do I steal the glory?
Blessings,
Gaylene
This is my 3rd attempt at getting my post to show up....can anyone see this?
Morgen
still purifying myself and waiting on His wonders!
I see how God is controlling my time in these last two days. Unexpected changes of where I was to be.
Praise you Lord!
You all amaze me with your comments. I have nothing constructive to add. If I added anything it would sound like a broken record.
But I do have a request. Is there any mom out there that has a child with food allergies???? Would you contact me Jan@buffalocanoeing.com My beautiful 18 mo old granddaughter (that I take care of every Mon morning so my daughter can go to a Bible study) has developed allergies to milk, wheat, eggs, and peanuts...just to name a few. My daughter is getting no help from her Dr in dealing with this. If she knew of another good Dr she would change in a heartbeat. My daughter and her husband waited a long 10 years to have this baby, and she is so precious to all of us. Any help any of you can give us will be an answer to prayer. Any please pray for them!

Morgen, I can see your one sentence post.
Jan, I will e-mail you once I get home. My son has those allergies + nuts + pet dander, so yeah. I can relate.
I have felt under attack since starting to pray the purification prayer for myself. It's like the old devil is just tempting me so badly.
I just keep praying more fervently.
I appreciated the posts today...I had the same thoughts about the slaughter of so many "innocent" people....until you shared about their idols and sins....ish!
what idols and sins do I need to get rid of before I can reside in my promised land? Food for thought.
See you tomorrow.
Purify me Lord as I anticipate your wonders!
Morgen
Wendy, I had thought about staying off the computer after 10:00. I quickly realized that this may not work for me. I don't know how to use facebook and twitter so that's not something I can give up. My computer is my outlet for communication and friendships, like you all that comment. When I can't sleep at night I've gotten up to read. Sometimes a book on my computer, the Bible, an encouraging blog, or old emails from my Spiritual mom that reminds me I'm loved. Communication with people from church would be so much better but I lack that in my life unless I'm at church.
Lori, I loved one of your comments you left "When we obey him, and we read his word daily, like he asks us to, he gives us strength when we feel weak! He is our strength, to fight our every single "battle." And, our glorious Father gives us victory over Satan-who wants to control us! Satan opposes God and what He is doing in our lives,
so Satan sets out to stop each and every victory that God wants us to have!"
Thank you for this, if I maysay, sweet sister. And thanks for the hug.
Rhonda, thanks for your hug as well.
Since Tuesday I've been fighting my own emotional battle and Satan keeps bringing self destructive thoughts to my mind but I know that through Christ I can be victorious.
P.S. Stephanie Mommy Brain,I went to your blog and left a comment for yesterday's post.
I love you all
My nugget for today was in Joshua 10:25, when Joshua told his men, "Be strong and courageous". I was thinking on the same line of what Grace and Peace wrote. That Joshua was able to tell his men this because he had been told the same thing when he needed encouragement and God was faithful to bring him through. We need to encourage each other like it says in 2 Corinthians 1:4
"...and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."
Blessings, Debbie
Jennifer Renee...I'm praying for you a good nights rest. Tonight when you close your eyes...take several slow, deep breaths. Be aware of God's loving presence with in you....Than...Put yourself in his loving arms.
Good Night Jennifer Renee...God Bless You & Peace be with YOU!!
I lift you up in Prayer

I have loved reading everyone's posts today. Just wanted to update you on the "no sweets" challenge that I am trying out for the first time in my life. (Brandee in Iowa - glad you're hanging w/ me in this!) I am a 4th grade teacher and this week alone in my class are 3 birthdays in a row with another one earlier in the week. So yesterday I avoided a Krispy Kreme doughnut, today it was one of those massive cookie cakes, complete with huge mounds of icing, tomorrow a girl is bringing in more doughnuts, and on Monday, another girl is bringing canollis (sp?). Anyway - you never know what form Satan will take - it may be the form of a doughnut. Staying strong for the 2nd day...

ps - I am so thankful for the words of wisdom that you all share about putting down the chores to spend time w/ your children. I am a "to do" gal too, but being a teacher, I know how important it is to spend my time w/ my 2 daughters - I see them growing up so quickly. (This is not to say that non-teachers don't know this too!!) I think I've just seen so many examples of how NOT to parent over the years based on students I've taught and their family lives... Anyway - thank you, ladies! Keeping you all in my prayers!
Hi all,
I'm still here, reading scripture at 6am, but not having time to comment since I babysit my granddaughter every other week.I'm catching up on everyone's comments.
(Gone last week to California.)
I am writing your spiritual nuggets in a notebook daily, so this process takes me a while. I can review when my brain forgets.
Hint: If you're an early bird like me, check yesterday's posts following yours so you can keep up with everyone, even the night owls.
You all are wonderful! May God bless each of you. He is the great I AM! He is whatever you need Him to be at this time in your life.I feel the Saviors love flowing, and I'm sure others do too. Especially thanks to Wendy!
Catching up: Back in chapter 3, the priests "stood firm in Jordan."
They stepped by faith into the water, stood firm and didn't waver, stayed fast in God's will, and stacked stones to remind them to worship.
I feel like one of these priests, holding up my brothers and sisters in Christ as their faith is being tested.
Brandee, Wed. I fasted until 3:00 due to blood tests. I prayed during that time. Did God have this happen for a specific person/time?
Gilgal kept ringing a bell in my head, so I got my old study Bible and found an old message by Chuck Swindoll: 2 Kings chapter 2-
Elijah and Elisha are going back to these places before Elijah is taken up into heaven.
1)Gilgal-place of beginning
(Joshua 4)
2)Bethel-place of altar/sacrifice
(Gen.22)
3) Jericho-place of
battle/stubborn will
given up(Joshua 6)
4) Jordan-place of death of self
Br. Swindoll said we will experience all 4 in our Christian life.
Chapter 4: One man's sin effected the whole nation. How serious a thing to God. But, He knows all about us, even our thoughts. How wonder mercy and grace are!
Chapter 5: Names of the 5 kings buried in the cave and where they were from is listed, and later Israel captures these towns. God wanted them destroyed so
His children would not become idol worshippers and do horrible things.
He often God helped the Israelites-walls of Jericho fell, hail on the enemies.
I see how small my faith is and how big our God is.
It's exciting to hear about the fasts various ones are serious about. My special diet is going well. I finally got medicine for the inflamation after 9 weeks of pain. Glory to God in the Highest!May our Lord bless you. What a sacrifice He made for us sinners.
Such unfailing love!
Keep pointing to the cross,
Linda from Ark.
Hello, wonderful ladies. I want to echo the words of Lori, the family caretaker who is so in love with our Lord and thankful for finding "encouraging sisters that love God's word, and love to talk about God's word!' I feel the same way, blessed to be able to participate in this "read through the Bible" study on line. Thank you, Wendy, for being so faithful. This is new for me, but I like hearing where everyone is from; all over the country and even the world! I had been doing this, (reading thru the Bible), on my own at a much slower pace, until my friend, Lyn, discovered you all, and encouraged me to try this. Thank you, Lord, for all these new sisters in Christ! Sue in Keller,TX
Hey my dear GIG and SIC,
I cannot write a lot as my heart is broken, and I wouldn't be writing now, but I feel God tugging at my heart. All week His Word has taken a hold of me and made me think about the Joshua challenge and the purifying of things God wants out of my life. Tues. night I went to bed crying...all the sweet comments from you young moms. I felt, again, so ashamed that I didn't give Jesus to my children as I should have. God gave me comfort in telling me...again...the past is over...give Me to them NOW even if they are 30 and 33...give Me to that precious grandson; don't let satan occupy your mind and heart with regrets. GET UP!!!!!
Then, last night, I thought of various things God may want me to give up. Most of my day, not every day, but most days are spent in this wonderful Bible study. I've said over and over how precious it is to me and how much I learn...I'm in His Word, and journaling, and reading your comments, which bless my soul beyond measure...it is not uncommon for me to spend 3-5 hrs. a day. I'm not neglecting things except the housework, and my husband usually does that for me. ;) I'm reading B. Moore's new book, So Long, Insecurity, reading in my Bible. So, I'm asking and praying what do I give up???? Should I not read, record comments in my journal, so I'll have time to do...????? I find such joy in each of you...I cannot express my love in the Lord for each of you. You each are such an encouragement; could He want me to give that time up??? I just don't think so, but.... many of you are giving up comp. "after hours" ;) and I think okay maybe I write too much and too late??? As you can see He's investigating or I am one or the other.
I took this afternoon to shop for Easter things, and I found myself really missing my moma. This was her favorite time, and now she is actually with Her Savior....At His Feet as she left in a note for all of us to find. I do have peace, but the missing is something else.
THEN, precious Gaylene commented about taking her mom to KFC and my heart broke right then. The last month of my moma's life was filled with blood work, blood transfusions, PAIN in her legs, and having a hearing aid for the first time. Every two weeks we went to the audiologist and then to Chick-Fil-A. She was like a child getting a present each time, so Gaylene, God allowed you to touch my heart; He meant for you to write about this time with your mom as I needed to grieve and GRIEVE I did.!!!!!!! As courageous as I want to be and need to be, my heart just breaks sometimes as I miss her so much. I cry even as I write this, but Gaylene I thank you. Your comment is reassurance to me that...I am conquering this battle each day for the Lord, the God of Jeanne, is fighting for me!!! Halleluia. He will be victorious with me and my broken heart. (Cont.)
...and I said I wouldn't be able to write much.:) It is so healing to do this.
While at "Ollie's" today, I bought myself "A Quick Word with Beth Moore, scrip. and quotations from Breaking Free" (I had done this study a few yrs. back.) So,tonight after reading, but couldn't write as I normally do, I pick the book up thinking I could calm down...there had to be something that would speak to me. Yep!!!
Ps.51:16-17 "You do not want a sacrifice, or I would give it; You are not pleased with a burnt offering. The sacrifice pleasing to God is a broken spirit. God, You will not despise a broken and humbled heart." Then her comment on that scripture: "One of the primary reasons God sent His Son to this earth was to bring tender salve and relief to those whose hearts have been broken. I believe that only God can truly and completely heal shattered hearts"...and I PTL right then(with goosebumps), GOT UP!!!!!, and began writing. I feel better and now I can go to bed and rest in the Lord.
But, please, my GIG who know what I am going through, remember me in prayer as I go through this season of my life. I knew that I was going to do this study before my moma died, and we had talked about it, but I had no idea that He would place you GIG in my life as part of the healing process that He is tenderly taking me through. He is Awesome and I love Him so much,
Resting in His Strong Arms,
Jeanne
I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wendy,
It has not been a Normal Day(that's the truth for Joshua and for me), Time has not stood still, but He has given me a day I'll cherish for a long time..Your guiding in His Word is so powerful. What He is giving us of Himself through your teaching and your heart for Him is a MIRACLE!!!
In His Love,
Jeanne
{I'm really going to bed now;)}
Jeanne,
I've missed your posts. I am glad that God did not ask you to give up posting.
Also, so sorry that you're missing your mom. Mine has been gone for 5 1/2 years now and I still ache once in a while. You will see her again. We know she is not in pain anymore and most likely having the best day of her life (as I imagine each day in heaven would be). Who was it that posted recently that when she misses her mom she sings praise songs because then she'll be doing the same thing her mom is doing in heaven.
And don't believe the enemy's condemnation of how you raised your children. Our God is the God of second chances. Start now with them and with your grandbaby.
((((HUGS)))) and praise God for using the Beth Moore book to minister to your spirit.
