What a contrast to when God's glory entered the temple after being returned in Solomon's day! I liked this section, too, because no matter how it FEELS, we're never really alone or apart from God. When He seems far away it's because WE'VE moved, not Him, and He's still there, waiting for us to turn to HIm in those difficult times. Even then He wants to care for us and protect us. Why do we hang out in the exiled times? Why aren't we running as hard as possible to get back to Him?
Mustn't Ezekiel felt silly, digging a hole through a wall in broad daylight to 'escape' through it, when the door worked just fine and there was seemingly no good reason not to use it? Do you think that anyone paid any attention to his visual aid? Do I worry more about how I think things will look to others than to being obedient to whatever God asks of me?

Good morning everyone,
Wendy, once again, your words were resonating with me. Oh how I can relate! Thank you for sharing where you are and challenging yourself (and us!) to examine our temples for that fullness of the Lord's presence in our lives.
It's such a wonderful feeling like none other to have that fullness of His presence right with us/inside us. I, too, have been missing that lately...for many of the same reasons you have mentioned.
I think my biggest reason is that I am not just simply "tarrying" long enough with Him. I pray to Him throughout the day, read His word, but I'm not often enough just sitting in His presence and allowing myself to get still enough to hear from Him.
Heavenly Father, I pray you would give us all a new sense of your presence in our lives. Help us to remove anything that we might have placed in the way of receiving the fullness of You within us and in our midst.
Lord, I pray a special prayer for Wendy, our wonderful teacher as she seeks You in the days to come, that Your glory would fill her temple beyond what she could ask or imagine.
I thank you, Lord, for her heart for You and for her faithfulness in ministry to us all.

Thank you Lord for the lovely refreshing rain.
In Ez. 11:16-21, the Lord says He will be a sanctuary to Israel during their exile, then He will bring them back to their homeland.
They will remove every trace of their vile images and detestable idols. He will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. He will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart, so they will obey His decrees and regulations.
They'll truly be my people, and I will be their God.
Such hope for the exiles. What do we need to do to have a tender, responsive heart for the Lord? Remove the vile images and detestable idols that stand in the way. He's number 1 or nothing.
I wish I could see the videos, because I'm missing out on blessings.
Please pray for Cliff and his family. His house burnt 2 weekends ago. Insurance will replace the house, but precious things it won't. They need the Lord in their lives.
In September, the exiled Israel will return to rebuild. Hang in there everyone.

Ok, here I go again, with my beloved. But I found his words roll around in my head. (I have some of his DVD taken while he was teaching. As I watch them I fall in love with him all over again). Anyway, he said that our closeness with the Lord is like the tide. It because as we get so close to him, we relax and wallow in that closeness, and don't realize that the tide has gone out until He is far away. But realize that God never wants to be far away from us, we just forget to follow the tide -God - out so that we feel close to Him.
I love what Amy said about Ezekiel- digging a hole in the wall and escaping, instead of using the gate. No wonder that there were false prophets jeering him. And Ezekiel never ask God to let him dig the wall out. We must never be ashamed of folowing after God, no matter what He ask of us. But be sure that God did ask us, and not run ahead.
Jennifer Rene, when I heard this sermon last night I immediately thought of you. But it is so good that I thought I would pass it on to all. We are having a 3 day Summer Series, including Sunday. It is over now, and it has been so very good. Even at my age, I heard 2 sermons that were brand new thoughts to me.
2Corth.12:7 - 10. This is talking about the "thorn in Paul's flesh. God said no to removing it so that Paul would be weak, but by that weakness he would be more complete/perfect. This man is deaf since 5 because of a black widow spider bite. Then weas very sick for many years. Yet he is a full time preacher, has a large church here in DFW. Tried to talk his way out of being a preacher, but God wouldn't let go of him. He talked about the handicaps that brought, and how God supplied. 2Cor. 3:4-5 and of course Rom. 8:28. All things work together for good to them that love God. God is attracted to weakness, because they need God more. Jennifer, I thought of you and your desire to serve God, use your weakness and make it your strength. God is drawn to you and wants to use you. After the sermon, there was a crowd of people surrounding the preacher wanting to talk to him because they related to his weakness. Ask God to let you know how he wants to use you. He will tell you, and open the way. It could be a lot of different things.

Got home last evening with Radar - then had to leave shortly after – for Open House at the HS! Dave had doggie duty, it about killed me to leave him…but, I would not miss an evening with Connor’s teacher’s!!! It was the first time Dave missed out on the event, too. And, it was pouring –what a hoot. Connor’s classes could not have been more wide-spread, let’s just say I had a mini workout in the rain, again! Only this time I was not as cheerful as my last walk in the rain! Ha-ha
I don’t think baby will enjoy wearing the “cone!” (2 weeks!) Certainly, it is going to be an experience for us! They ended up taking 4 tumors –one being the one with the cancer, and it is quite an incision…but, wow, the vet did such a good job. It looks so clean. If we can just keep his mouth off of them, and little paws off of them, too – he should be good to go!!!

Wendy, I love your honesty with us, we continue to learn so much from your daily walk with the Lord. You are so humble, and tell us exactly how you’re doing…I experienced the same thing, early June, I remember telling ya’ll about it…w/ me, it was busy-ness coming in –ever so slightly-oh, we have to be on guard. I was not praying like I had been. The Spirit guided me and showed me what was lacking…what I needed was just what Jodi spoke of: “tarrying” with the LORD. The good thing is that when we get to this point, He is there waiting for us to come back to Him. His love endures forever!

What a promise given to us dear GIG! This is given to us when we ask Jesus to be our Savior and Lord of our lives.

Lord, thank you for opening our eyes to the spiritual nuggets in Your Word. Help us to read it slowly, -not to just quickly read too fast, or worse yet, just skim it. Give us that desire to tarry with You. Lord, thank you for teaching us to reread it even, to ponder over it, and to place ourselves in these very same words that you said so long ago. Your Word applies to us! Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow. Your Word, alive and active and growing inside us!

I just love your beloved's comparison of God's presence being like a tide that we become relaxed in and then unaware that the tide has moved, that He's still there but we must continue to follow the tide and move toward it. Wow, that is such a perfect way of describing it.

Good morning, Gigs! Wendy, thank you for sharing your precious heart with us today. I know what you're talking about...I believe that Lori referred to it also. I put away the busyness on MOnday when school started back up. I go to my "Jesus chair" downstairs until my husband comes down to eat breakfast. Then, I do back upstairs and go to my knees by the bed to finish my time with the Lord. It's just hard in the summer when the routine is so crazy!
My take away was a bit different. Last night as I was reading part of today's lesson, I was trying to figure out "When" all of this was to occur. The present or the future. I was too sleepy to finish reading, so I stopped for the night. Well, God answered my question just two paragraphs from where I left off! I just love how He answers us! Ezekiel 12:26 says that ..."Son of man, the people of Israel are saying,"He's talking abou the distant future. His visions won't come ture for a long time.' Therefore,tell them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: No more delay! I will now do everything I have threatened...."
God does what He says He is going to do--to paraphrase from Beth Moore! THerefore, I need to know what He says!! Read His Word, Susan, read His Word!

Good morning, GIGs,
Praise our mighty Lord! This morning he protected my son from being in a head on car crash. A little while ago my son and a friend, driving on a little suburban road, saw a car coming towards them on their side of the road. The car hit a pole instead of my son's car, then flipped! My son and friend are still on the scene, giving witness reports to the police. The older woman in the other car was removed by stretcher to an ambulance. He texted us a photo, and it was a messy scene. Thank you, Lord, for protecting my son and his friend.
This morning, for the first time in a few weeks, I found the reading rich and meaningful and full of food for thought. I had a poor sleep, and had been praying and praising God a lot, which my spiritual mentor advised me to do when the nights are fitful. So maybe my head and heart were more ready to receive His word today.
There were many passages that spoke to me, but the one I chose as my nugget is:
(Ezekiel 13:7) "Can your visions be anything but false if you claim, 'This message is from the Lord, when I have not even spoken to you?'"
My to do: Along the same lines as what my twin [smile] Lori said, I need to be still more and listen for God's whispers, and I need to listen to my family and others more. Conversely, I need to talk and give my views and what I think should happen A LOT LESS. Most importantly, when I ask the Lord for direction, instead of "what do You want me to do, Lord?" I need to ask "What is it that You want to do through me, Lord?" This feels like a "light dawning on Marblehead" moment, I know, but I needed that point drilled in to me right now.

Thank you Wendy for your heartfelt thoughts. The changes in the evening sky were delightful! My "Jesus" chair is in my study, with a table and lamp next to it, because I like to get up before dawn. It is my favorite spot to read, and when someone else is sitting there I feel lost!
I was very taken by the cherubim and their "whirling wheels"... I even was trying to draw versions of a wheel within a wheel in the margin of my bible! Can anyone share the symbolism of the many facets of these cherubim, with the humming wings, and hands, and four faces, and wheels, etc.? Ez 10:17 "...the spirit of the living beings was in the wheels."
The cloud/glory of God moved out of the Temple, out of the city, and stopped above the mountain to the east. Does it stay there, above this mountain? Does this become a holy mountain? I can't read ahead, but Linda @CRF, you can tell me! :)
I was drawn to the references to the walls in Ez 13. It describes how the false prophets have done nothing to repair the breaks in the walls, they have built flimsy walls, have reinforced them with whitewashing, and how their walls will be broken down right to the foundation.
Contrast this to God's unfailing wall--
Job 1:10 God put a wall of protection around Job and his home and his property. God made him prosper in everything he did.
Isaiah 14:32 "The LORD has built Jerusalem; its walls will give refuge to his oppressed people."
Jeremiah 1:18 For see, today I have made you strong like a fortified city that cannot be captured, like an iron pillar or a bronze wall.
Dear Lord, fortify me, be my refuge and protection from harm with the wall of truth in Your Word. Open my eyes to false walls with their flimsy promises and whitewashed security in worldly things and selfish thoughts. Your protection is all I need. My strength lies in You alone. The power and glory are yours. Amen.

Thank you for sharing some of your Beloved's insight re the tide. I like that visual. When we get to heaven I'll be sure to thank him for ministering to us.
In today's reading, I was intrigued by the cherubim with the wheels. Here's what Pastor Chuck Smith said about that:
But, for parallel passages read Revelation, chapter 4, as John also describes these same creatures in the heavenly scene. Familiarize yourself with them because when John gets to heaven, the first thing that attracts his attention is the throne of God and these cherubim around the throne of God and their activity there. So, you might as well familiarize yourself with them, because that's probably the first thing that you'll be seeing when you get to heaven. And if you aren't a little familiar with it, you're going to be going around with your mouth wide open looking like someone who didn't do their homework.
So, interesting what we have to look forward to as we one day will leave this three-dimensional plane or three-dimensional living and enter into that spiritual dimension where we too will see the real world, not this temporal world of fantasy that is about us, but the eternal world, God's kingdom.
I have read other commentaries that the four faces of the cherubim also signify the 4 gospels: in Matthew, Jesus is presented as the Lion from the tribe of Judah; in Mark, He is the ox, the suffering servant; in Luke, He is the man, emphasizing His humanity; and in John, He is the eagle, soaring as the Son of God.
The other passage that caught my attention was when they were urged to submit to Nebuchadnezzar. Jon Courson commented that ...it was God who had determined to allow Nebuchadnezzar to be victorious over them. Therefore they were to submit to him and let God do His work in their lives..."
In our lives, God placed authorities over us as well, an unbelieving husband for instance. We are, like it says above, "to submit to him and let God do His work in (our) lives. Speaking for myself, this is not easy especially if we are eager to do work for God's Kingdom. But we have to trust that God has a plan and He will honor our obedience.
The last and saddest part was when God's glory left the temple. It just emphasizes that God's Spirit cannot co-exist with the idols in our hearts. I would rather have God's Spirit in me than the few worthless idols we so desperately cling to oftentimes.
Lots to think about today.

Ezekiel….I have been on a search these past few days ….on why God always called him (Ezekiel) “Son of man” Throughout Ezekiel’ life, it mentions him only twice by name in Ezekiel 1:3 and 24:24. Found lots….just hard for this gal to put it all together. Making some-what more sense of why and with some understanding? ….there is a reason he had me searching. Just to have me tallying that I am mere a “woman” and not God. Him wanting me to trust in Him in a certain situation. I always love how the Lord approached Him “Son of man” The footnote used on 2:1 says: Son of man: a formal way of saying simply “man”; God’s habitual way of addressing the prophet throughout this book. Probably the title is used to emphasize the separation of the divine and the human….and just before that footnote is the footnote of 1:26: which says One who had the appearance of a man: God appearing in human form (v28); cf Ex 33:18-23.

I just finished the Zechariah class and the section re the east reminded me of Zechariah 14:4.
Now, it is interesting, the glory of the Lord, the last place there on the mount to the east of Jerusalem. It was on this same mountain that Jesus ascended into glory. It was on this same mountain that Jesus came in His entry to Jerusalem as the King, as the Messiah, fulfilling the prophecy of Zechariah, "Behold, rejoice greatly, oh daughter of Jerusalem, behold thy King cometh unto thee, but He is lowly, sitting on the colt, the foal of an ass" (Zechariah 9:9). And it is upon this same mount that Jesus will return. As Zechariah said, "And He shall set His foot in that day on the Mount of Olives, and it will split in the middle" (Zechariah 14:4), an all, and right there where he saw the glory of the Lord departing from the mountain there on the east, there is where the glory of God in the person of Jesus Christ will come. And again, as He comes into Jerusalem, the glory of God's presence once more returning to the land and the beautiful restoration of God and the glorious kingdom of God when it comes. 2:3 The Lord addressed Ezekiel regularly as son of man (Hebrew ben-’adam, “son of Adam”). This phrase reminded Ezekiel that he was profoundly different from the heavenly beings before whom he stood. In contrast to them, he was a child of the dust, a mere mortal. It also marked him out from the nation of Israel (literally the sons of Israel). They were a rebellious nation, true descendants of Jacob, whose defining characteristic was striving with God and man (Gen 32:28). Lori when we got “Chance” fixed she had to wear the shade also…wouldn’t leave her stitches alone. She got a nickname for that week we called her “Lampshade.” That is just what it looked like. Not for sure how big your dog is but her shade lasted not even a week. Her stitches the wound was healed back up….just should have been on a few days longer….but the shade was upon repairable. She ended up taking the stitches out herself.

As for the cherubim being covered with eyes, I was reminded of 2 Chronicles 16:9 - For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.
I wonder if the eyes of the cherubim are part of the eyes of the Lord.

Wendy, it didn't bother me that your vlog was dark, smile all. Now if something happens to the audio then I'll have a problem but so will everyone else, smile again.
I needed to hear your vlog today. I don't feel as close to God as I should. Perhaps a part of that is because I've missed so much church and felowship with others. I am not good at studying. I don't have the desire to answer the questions that are at the end of chapters in a book I'm reading. Right now I'm reading a book called Embarrassing Your Freedom. Soon I'll be reading Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl. Maybe I just don't have the energy but I never liked doing homework or studying for tests when I was in school. Well, sometimes I did enjoy homework. Sometimes it's hard for me to comprehend something or remember what I read.

I'm with you. I don't like answering questions in the back of chapters, either. I just like where my own thoughts take me when I am reading a book. I've read Lysa's "Becoming More Than" book and I loved it and got inspired by it. But again, I didn't answer the questions or look up all the scriptures. I think you will like that one. Sometimes I read a bit of one book, then a bit of another. A book might not "click" with me the first time I give it a try, but it might later on. That reminds me, I'm only partway through "Praying for your Adult Children" by Stormie Omartian, and I was just pondering what to do next this afternoon. I think I'll grab it now.
What did you think of today's Steve Green song? I like it and then went on YouTube and listened to a few more.

Lori, glad Radar is home and healing. So thankful about the surgery, and he that will be up and "running" soon :) !!! Chip still has his stitches in until the 31st, they aren't as bothersome when they are young pups. But my son's dog had to wear "the collar of shame" and they have some funny photos!
Just a quick update on Michael today. He has been attending meetings daily with new-found and old friends, who are all of the same mindset-- to heal, to move forward, to support each other, to have good fun. He has been to picnics, a bonfire by the river, out for coffee, dinner before the meeting, grilling at someone's apt., etc. They are a good bunch, keeping each other lifted up and learning at the same time. They even said grace before they ate at KFC! He is just starting to go through the first step with his new sponsor.
He was hired-- passed his background check! So he has a full-time job at a pre-school and daycare where our grandchildren go. He is such a lover of children, and they love him, and he loves this job! (Extra hugs from his favorite nephews don't hurt either!) It is a great work schedule, so he can still attend meetings and socialize.
He went to church this Sun and my husband taught him how to videotape the Mass, so I think he will be willing to go if he is in the soundroom (safe). My husband has so many jobs to do with church and school, and for years I have been trying to get him to find some relief from this duty! Win-win-win!
We have a contract set up, and will be setting up a budget next. So anyway, we are on a fairly smooth road right now, thanks to God's unfailing love for us! You are treasured friends, carrying me through this with your encouragement and prayers.
My next goal is to start learning the 12 steps in my life, so that I can be effective and fully participate in his life and recovery. Lots ahead.
Hey Jen Ren, I have a terrible memory! I have read more than half the bible, and can't even remember some important names! But I will get to read it again and again. And I figure God puts in front of me the very thing I need to read or hear for that day. So just look for what is calling to you and what moves you, and take your time, sweetie. He will fill you up again!

Jacque, our Lord is sooo good. It sounds like Michael is being very obedient and taking good step after good step. Hurrah! I just finished praying for all the children, and with your news and what happened to my son today, I say, thank you, Lord for answered prayers! Part of my prayer for the children asks that they would be protected from "harm, evil forces, ungodly desires, and decisions that harm them instead of enlighten them as to God's plan for their lives."
I smiled wide as I read your description of your son with his group of supportive buddies. My son has such a group, and I'm sure that if any of them needed the kind of support Michael needs, the rest of them would be on the job!

The verse that jumped out at me today was Ezekeil 11:12..."For you have refused to obey my decrees and regulations; instead you have copied the standards of the nations around you." How many times do I copy the world with something I watch on tv, or listen to on the radio. I need to pray on this and give God a chance to work in me!

Hi Jodie,
Thanks for your concern. Still struggling with pain - some days are better than others. During the day it is easier to ignore - sleep is hard. I keep praying God will help give me the faith to see my health restored. I have that promise - but the waiting is hard.
I hope you are doing well with your boys. I am busy getting ready for a big trip alone with my boo this weekend.
