To Debate or Not Debate
Unless you have been under a rock or in a line at gas station with you car radio turned off, you have been inundated with the pros and cons of a presidential debate. The other hot topic and more critical to our country is the state of economy given the situation on Wall Street.

I am not an expert in either of these topics but I have been consumed by them. As I have wrestled with the issues in my mind I heard myself repeating a prayer I read on my friend Kristi's blog: "Lord, reign." No matter what side of the political fence you stand this should be the prayer of every believer.

As I prayed for the Lord to reign I was reminded of another prayer that I have read many times in an incredibly powerful book. Perhaps you have read the same prayer:

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (NIV)

If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. (AMP)

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. (NLT)

If My people who are called by My name put away their pride and pray, and look for My face, and turn from their sinful ways, then I will hear from heaven. I will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (NLV)

Will you join me in prayer for our country, its leaders, and God's people today?

Lord, reign.

Lord, forgive us of our transgressions, Forgive us of our pride and greed. Forgive us for turning away from the peace that comes through obeying you and your commands. Your word says says when your people will humble ourselves you will hear our prayer. My heart sits in a posture of humility and desperation for our great country today. Holy Spirit communicate this prayer to the waiting ear of the Savior. Amen.

My heart joins yours in prayer for our nation and God's church to live2 Chr. 7:14.

We need a day of fasting for all of this. Corporate "humbling" ourselves, praying and seeking His face.

I have read of 40 day fasts, calls to repentence etc. I believe God is moving us, His people closer to His heart.
