Food, Family, and Fun

Women who meet the Proverbs Speaker team and staff feel an instant connection to us. It is because you get to know us through our writing and through our blogs. We feel the same instant connection about women we met at our events, through phone calls, emails, and She Speaks. There is an assumption made because of this "instant connection." We hear it over and over again. Everyone thinks that our team and staff get together for "girl time." The truth of the matter is that we all are together only one time a year, at She Speaks. Even those of us who live near the office don't see one another very often.

After She Speaks the "in town" speakers (That is how we refer to our team members who are close to the office) decided to be more intentional about getting together. Van was gracious enough to host a "girl time get together" right after the conference. The staff and a few local speakers had lunch by the pool several weeks ago. We had so much fun we decided to plan another one. As we planned the what, when, and where we discovered that Shari Branedel had never seen, are you ready for this one, never seen Steel Magnolias. (And she calls herself southern) After few reply all emails the date was set for last night.

Again, Van was the hostess with the mostess. Marybeth brought the seasoned taco meat. Teri brought guacamole. Barb brought chips and cheese. Shari brought the drinks and Kristen brought fresh tomatoes. (Who brought the salsa?) All the fixin's for a great taco salad supper to be followed by an amazing chocolate chip pound cake (I will post the recipe tomorrow, Marybeth) and ice cream. YUM!!!!!!!!!!

After dinner and dessert we went downstairs to the big screen t.v. to laugh and cry, hoot and holler like only southern girls can. Marybeth and I have seen the movie so many times that we were quoting lines before they came out of the actor's mouths. Most of you probably can do the same thing. It is a great chick flick. We had so much fun!!!!!!!!!
