I am reading through the Bible for the 2nd year. I never thought I would do it once but I found just the right Bible. That doesn't sound right, does it? What I mean is that I found a Bible that is easy to read in a year. It is called the One Year Chronological Bible~New Living Translation. I love it! I feel like I am reading Novel. The New Living Translation makes the Bible easy to understand. Challenge yourself to read through the Bible if you have not ever done so. You will not be sorry you took the challenge.
I read something yesterday I never noticed before, the word thrill. I love this word. I use it a lot. What exactly does it mean? I went to my new favorite website dictionary.com (I realize most of you have known about this site so it is not a big thrill to you. Humor me, ok?) I surfed over to dictionary.com and typed in thrill. Let me tell you, the meaning, well, it thrilled me. Check this out:
1.to affect with a sudden wave of keen emotion or excitement, as to produce a tremor or tingling sensation through the body.
| 2. | to utter or send forth tremulously, as a melody. |
Now with that definition in mind, read this incredible verse in Psalm 92. (4)
You thrill me, LORD, will all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done.
Do you see how the definition makes the verse come alive? The LORD (All caps means our Covenant Lord.) keeps His promises to us and then some. He thrills me with a buy one get one on my daughter's favorite cereal when I am at the end of the month and money. He thrills me when I hear my son give Him credit for the mighty strength demonstrated on an amazing golf shot. He thrills me when my husband loves me like Christ loves the church. He thrills by giving me a life beyond what I could ever imagine. (Not a material life, girls.) He thrills me with the on time accuracy of His amazing and powerful word. Should I go on? I could but I want you to share how He thrills you.
One more thing before you share. The second part of the definition, the melody. Look at the last part of the verse, "I sing for joy..." I love to sing His praises, don't you? The thrill of the Lord puts a melody on our lips. I am so excited my fingers can barely stay on the keyboard. Wowed again by God!
Now, your turn. Share.

Hi Wendy, God thrilled me today with finding my cell phone in the Target parking lot! I'm trying to focus on big and little thrills that God would want me to notice--I pray that my eyes and heart would be sooo aware of His goodness/blessings/thrills all around us. Thanks for the tip on the new Bible translation. Sounds like my kind of Bible!
Peace, Libby :)
Oh, the Lord thrills me with a tenderhearted husband who knows when to just listen and give me a big long hug.
He thrills me by giving us jobs so that we are able to pay the bills, even when sometimes I would just rather be traveling and not working. :)
You are right... I could go on and on...
Blessings,
Kelli
Wendy,
It thrills me when:
The Word of God supports itself, when the OT and NT align, I get a greater picture of God's glory.
When I see my children having intimacy with the Lord. And His working in and through their lives.
Praying with my kids and God's answering.
Praying with my friends, and having reports of the very prayer we prayed being answered.
Confirmation...when the Lord is telling me something and it is confirmed with scripture and Him telling others the same thing!
When He helps me take steps of faith and conquor my fears.
When I fail Him and recieve His forgiveness. The wonder working power of the blood. His ceaseless love...
Okay, I'll stop.
Thank you, by the way for your class on teaching by the book. I have been posting more on my blog because when I am at my computer, I can just go to a new tab instead of all the way across the house to get my Bible...Some of us are slow!
AND I can copy and paste-saving time! I forgot about dictionary.com...Thanks for sharing your tips!!
That Bible translation sounds great! And, I confess, I have never read through the Bible.
God thrills me in the small stuff..like an orchestra of cicadas on a hot summer night...the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets that He paints on a daily basis...having the computer cooperate with me (we have a love/hate relationship!). He thrills me in the big stuff... watching my children grow physically and spritually...being loved by my husband...watching am unbeliever accept and grow in Christ.
Blessings,
Susan
He has thrilled me this morning with Renee's and JJ's good news and I don't even personally know them. I am celebrating with them. I keep seeing pictures of the beggar from the gate beautiful running around because He stood up and was able to walk. I pray that happens to somebody in the natural realm today. I am leaping and dancing like I imagine He was. I think I will blog about that tomorrow. Joy!
(Ck the spelling of your post unless you did that on purpose. All my typos are on purpose.; ) Not!
Wendy,
I have that same bible! I love it, too, and it did motivate me to read through the bible in a year again. I have been doing that with a different translation every year and definitely the NLT translation that is in chronological order is the easiest.
Now, to share about something God does that thrills me -- I love it when I pray and then He answers in such a way that I know He did it just for me! It makes me tear up every time it happens ...
I have to share this: Sunday, I felt that God was telling me to take our church directory to class and during prayer time have everyone take turns praying over the names in it. I said, "Well, Lord, some of the names in here are people that don't attend here anymore." He said, "I want you to pray for them anyway." So we did. Then I was amazed that Sunday night two of the names I prayed for showed up for church. [They had not been in awhile.] It was great for me because satan often tells me that I can't hear from God. Wrong again, satan!
I am thrilled tonight that God just answered my prayer through your blog. I was asking God to help me find an engaging way to read through the Bible. I was looking at online programs the other day and heard about one the radio station will send you, too. Tonight when I read your blog it was clear that this is His answer. I love the NLT! Okay, so where did you get your wonderful Chronological Bible Ms. Bargain Shopper? Or was it a splurge?
I can't wait to start this new adventure through the Word, experiencing the power of His presence and depth of His insights as He thrills me again and again!
I feel sure The Chronological Bible I read can be found at most all Christian Book Stores. I got mine at my local favorite, New Creation in Matthews. It was on sale but still a splurge, at least for me. If I can remember it was, $19.95. It is paperback so that made it a little bit cheaper.
Enjoy your adventure!
Hi, Wendy!
I get THRILLED when God touches our hearts through the details of our lives that He is in! When He confirms to me so personally that indeed "His sheep hear His voice". When He shows me over that His Word is indeed truth. When He answers prayers that were treasures for His ears alone. When He blesses me through another person. When He uses me as a vessel...that amazes me. When He shows the abundant life of His intangible but deep riches. When He whispers His love into my heart.
I am getting emotional here!
Love you, Wendy!
Sharon :)
