I had intended on vlogging today but really sense in my spirit that I need to put the computer down for the reminder of the evening. I need to treasure my family, especially my husband today. They need to know and see that they are more important than ministry.
I know that you will extend grace to me. So thank you. I have been reading your comments and realize my role as the facilitator is being fulfilled even if I don't vlog. You love and minister to each other in such a special way. It warms my heart!

Hi friends, I'm back and still alive, ha ha.
I'm really enjoying reading the book of Proverbs. Reading the NLT Version has helped me to understand some of the Proverbs a little better.
I had a nice time camping with my family. I had to help carry things from the car and help set up the tent. Being blind does not get me out of work, smile. We swam, went canoeing, hiked, and relaxed. We also roasted marshmallows on the camp fire. There were a few things that made me irritable but I kept it to myself and still had fun. On Saturday morning and Sunday morning I had the opportunity to lay in the tent alone and just listen to all the different birds without being interrupted. It was so peaceful. I ended up being allergic to something. For most of the weekend I had an itchy throat and was sneezing. Saturday I woke up with a headache and on Sunday I woke up with swollen eyes. It was a nice camp ground with nice and clean bathrooms and individual shower rooms. We even had a squirrel visit us every day. Saturday he tried to get away with our cookie tin. My sister said he had it in his hands and tried to jump off the picnic table. I was sitting near by so I heard it but I really wish I could have seen that.
Jan, I thought about you and your camp ground over the weekend. I hope and pray the clean up is going well.
Amy, I read your comment from the weekend. If I lived near you I'd go walking with you. I enjoy walking but hate doing it alone. You wouldn't have to talk to me. You could listen to your Ipod and we could walk at a fast pace. I don't like walking at a snail's pace either. Smile.

Wendy, I understand your needing to make sure you don't neglect time with your family.
I just started doing the Bible reading that all of you are doing here.
I have a prayer request. I am in desperate need of a job. I have been unemployed for over two years now and my unemployment was exhausted at the end of March 2010.
I have no income coming in right now. So far I do have my home. Thank you Lord.
Thank you for your prayers. I will be praying for all of you too.
Wendy, we will always extend grace to you. You are so faithful about teaching and opening up God's word to us all. We do gain so much from each others comments. Even when I don't know how to express what I got out of the reading someone else comes along and shares what they got out of the reading. I love that.
I really enjoyed today's reading but I really dont know what to share. I'm striving to use wisdom in all areas of my life. Lori, G and P, Brandee, and others I'm ready for what you have to share. I wish I could be articulat like you all.

Rhonda, thank you for the Memorial Day Prayer! It really spoke to me.
Today I noticed how many times our lips and our words were again the focus:
Gentle answers deflect anger,
Gentle words are the tree of life,
A cool temper stops fights (paraphrased),
Kind words are like honey - sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.
Then there was the focus on our attitude:
Those who fear the Lord are secure,
Fear of the Lord is a life-giving fountain,
We can make our own plans, but the Lord a) gives the right answers and b) determines our steps,
Godliness makes a nation great,
Unfailing love and faithfulness make atonement for sin,
Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall,
Discretion is a life-giving fountain.
Then there are the two proverbs that made me smile:
A bowl of vegetables with someone you love is better than steak with someone you hate (NLT). The NIV reads "Better a meal of vegetables where there is love than a fattened calf with hatred."
and
Gray hair is a crown of glory;it is gained by living a godly life (AMEN! I resemble that! smile).

Elizabeth, welcome and praying that God will open doors for you. He will do it when you least expect it, too. Keep praying dear sister and do not lose hope.

Teeny, another Praise God that you are on your way to recovery.
I highlighted many verses today. But the one that I marked are Prov 15:11 Even Death and Destruction hold no secrets from the Lord. How much more does He know the human heart. and 15:14 A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash.
Verse 11 shows us that we cannot hide anything from God. We think He does not know our secret sins but He does. Holding on to our sin interferes with our fellowship with Him. It also causes our prayers to be hindered.
Verse 14 to me is a warning to keep a careful watch over what I take in. For example, I need to discipline myself to focus on my bible studies instead of going to a scrapbooking message board for instance and wasting time there. Or what shows I watch on tv - though I haven't had time to do that lately. I think it is more about being good stewards of our time.
It's way past midnight here so I need to sign off.

I have been busy for two days with one-week-to-go-before the wedding activities, and just enjoying time with my daughter before she moves to Tennessee, so I have fallen behind. But now I've caught up on all your weekend posts, and it makes my heart joyful to be back in the loop with you all. Two days away seems longer than that! So many posts I want to comment on, so here goes...
Lori, I copied your wonderfully wise words into my notebook "By focusing on God, we can avoid the snares and pitfalls the enemy places on our daily path." That is so true! Satan so often tries to de-rail us, with food, or life's frustrations, or hurtful words heard or said, or bad attitudes, or COMPUTER PROBLEMS. (My first loooong post was lost in space, so I'm on Take Two!) As my spiritual mentor says, we have to be ever watchful for his tactics, particularly when we have a lot on our plates, and we need to literally TELL him to get away from us, and get our minds re-focused on God, preferably with a favorite scripture or song lyric. My current favorite is "Be Still My Soul." It helps me tremendously in trusting God.
Lori I was thinking of you and the graduation festivities. I hope they went well, and that you will enjoy some much-deserved relaxation time at the pool today!

Karen, thank you so much for the Proverbs outline. I really like that it says what we should do, and not what we shouldn't do, like we try to phrase things for our students at school. Reading the "shouldn'ts" in Proverbs literally makes my stomach clench, because it reminds me of the people in my life whom satan seems to work through very easily (and in truth, sometimes through me, too. Ouch!)

Jacque, I admire the attitude adjustment you are making about the job situation. When I had my job scare a few weeks ago, it was very unsettling,and I had to keep reminding myself to believe that God would work it all out for the best, even if it was not what I would have chosen.

Allie, I'm so happy Ryan got another clean test result, and that he is feeling a little better. The phrase, "The good Lord works in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform," went through my head as I read your God-inspired comments about how Ryan's illness has put his dad and new wife in a better light. WOW!

I will close with a prayer request. Please pray that my sister, Denise, who has been an invalid for so long, will be strong enough in body and spirit to attend my daughter's wedding this Sunday. That would truly be a victorious miracle!

Wendy hope you are enjoying your time with your family. I know we all understand. I have had to watch my commitments right now very closely as well with school now out for the summer. We will be gone away from the house alot the next two months swimming at the pool. Will is already asking if we can go tomorrow :)
Jen Ren- sounds like the camping trip was fun, minus the allergic reaction. We know all about the allergies around here! We all are getting over sinus stuff right now that I think is primarily caused by mold and things from it being so wet here in TN. We found out our roof is covered in mold so I know that does not help matters in us being sick alot. That is going to be taken care of this upcoming week though as we get a new roof put on :)
Allie- PTL on Ryan's and report and the way God used the situation to heal some relationships. Just an example of how He can always take the things that are hard and painful and turn them into something good to work for a greater purpose.

Shelia, praying for you and also Elizabeth, I stopped and prayed for God to open doors this week for you to find a job. My FIL has been out of work for 18+ months as well with no prospects of a job. I think he said he has a few months left and his unemployment will run out as well. I will be praying for you and welcome to the group.

G&P, I also marked Prov. 15:14 "A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash." We have to be careful what we are filling our minds with. There is alot of trash out there. It can get in our minds and create strongholds, it can cause us to view our marriages in a negative way, it can make us ungrateful and greedy. We need to be hungry daily for knowledge, for truth, and that is The Word. When we fill ourselves daily with truth there won't be room for anything else. As we read, God is sanctifying us and the more we are open to His sanctification the "trash" that is out there will be less and less appealing.
I was also drawn to Prov 14:34, especially with today being Memorial Day.
"Godliness makes a nation great but sin is a disgrace to any people."
As a nation we have gotten so far away from God and our sin is a disgrace. The things that are rampant in our country showcases just how far away from God we really are. G&P wrote not too long ago about asking God to purge us. My prayer today is that God would purge this country of the rampant disregard for Him and His ways. But as He does that His hand of protection will be heavily upon those that are seeking Him with all their hearts and that we will be true lights that make others be drawn to know why we are different. That others will be drawn to us to want what we have.

Rhonda, love the stories! Aren't big families great? But times together are precious and few and the memories are a treasure. We are transplanted into the midst of polka country here, so I know how the oompah-pah can get one's toes tapping! You continue to surprise me with your talents!
Michelle, I am thinking about you especially this week as your daughter's wedding is approaching. We attended a nephew's wedding Sat. (I have over 60 nieces and nephews in this generation only, so we've only just begun!) A wedding is such a beautiful testimony to love that brings each of us back to our pure purpose. May the love of our Father move your family to new levels of love!
Karen, you brought out the same thing I was thinking last night as we drove home. There is so much warning and instruction about our words! They can either bless or curse-- ourselves, our neighbors, our families, others. They can be folly, evil, ineffective, etc., or they can be supportive, uplifting, encouraging, loving, etc. But the fact that there is so much time in proverbs spent on "communication" makes me see how critical it is! I need to pay attention to what I say-- and also how I say it (non-verbal), so that I will be building up God's kingdom instead of pecking away at it with my words and actions.
I read the vegetables/steak verse out loud to my husband in the car, and we had a good chuckle together! That was new to me!
I also pondered, what is the "trash" in my life? (15:14) How do I feed on trash? Is is through TV or computer time? Is it clutter around my home that I obsess about but hang on to? Is it a god that I keep hidden away? Is it chit-chat at work that slows everyone down? Is it junk food in my cupboard? Is it silent ruminating, worry, and negative self-talk that waste my energy and make me feel discouraged? I need to open my eyes and tune in to the "trash" around me, then start replacing it with knowledge-- time spent in God's word, uplifting work, activities that promote love, harmony in my home, purposeful nutrition, God's truths and promises for me.

Good morning all - so glad to hear from Jennifer Renee. I am glad that you enjoyed your camping trip. It seems that all camping trips have their "thorns with the roses". And Jennifer if you had all the attributes of life, their wouldn't be any left for the rest of us.
I do think that the key to Proverbs is 16:16. How much better to get wisdom than gold, and good judgement than silver. But my verses to carry with me today are 16:1 We can make our own plans, but the LORD gives the right answer, and verse 3, commit your actions to the Lord and your plans will succeed. Isn't it wonderful with a few words from our LORD that we know the future. That is very powerful.

Sweet Wendy, God is smiling down on you – for listening to Him. Your family deserves your loving attention and I’m glad they are getting it!
The Proverbs. Oh, I’m just loving them. What do we begin with today? (14:1) “A wise woman builds her home.” We could just park right there and ponder couldn’t we!
“A glad heart makes a happy face”
“It is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time!”
“A cheerful look brings joy to the heart”
“Kind words…sweet to the soul and healthy for the body”
There are many ways we can build our home w/out even opening up our mouth!

I know with teenagers, “saying the right thing at the right time” makes all the difference!
If I could just be patient now, to wait for the right time!
Another verse: “Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall” (16: 18-19).
I read something in Bible Pathway that really made me stop and ponder:
It is natural to think of ourselves as humble, at least more humble than others. What about when we are with someone who irritates us - and, our words or actions (or inward thoughts) are not actually kind? I guess we are not as humble as we think we are. Maybe we should look at difficult people, as those chosen by God to provide us with opportunities to rid ourselves of self-righteousness and to express Christ-like love to them. Humble people will feel no jealousy or envy when they are ignored while others are praised. Oh, to be Christ-like and see others through the eyes of Jesus!
GIG’s, let’s remember that prayer changes things! We are seeing that here, as we unite together in prayer and lift each other up. Our mighty God is infinitely gracious. Nothing that happens to us is by chance. With our own individual requests, we trust Him. In anticipation we wait for answers and miracles. We put all of our hope in Him. We pray to Him continually. We greet each day in anticipation of observing His goodness.
Jennifer Renee, it’s nice having you back -you were missed! Michelle, you’ve been in my thoughts, as I know the wedding is drawing near - it’s been my prayer that Denise would be able to attend.
Ya’ll enjoy the holiday and its true meaning. Looking forward to walking, as by now, all of the flags will be out! Our local scout group places a flying flag in front of every home, near to the side-walk, in our sub division. Just looking at all the red, white, and blue, gets my heart a fluttering! Something to thank our Father for – our many freedoms, that we take for granted!

If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself…..Boy so true, so true!! This goes with so much in life.
…Reading God’s word, Taking care of our temple, working, Not doing what we want, ect…….
Discipline: Rhonda you are training for a 5 k. If you do not discipline yourself and approach the throne of grace each morning…..you will only be harming yourself.
…….but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding. Doing some pondering on this but don’t quite know how to explain it. I will be focusing on this one ….til the day of the race in July. As I practice my running I know I will be saying these words in my mind “If your reject discipline, you only harm yourself!

Lysa TerKeurst posted a list of scripture verses that spoke impt truths to her just last week. She's working to memorize them so that she can use them when she needs them. Jennifer Renee, so glad you had a peaceful camping trip. We had a squirrel visit this weekend also. Our dogs chased one into our house!!! Thought my husband was joking when he yelled for me to open the front door to let the squirrel out:-) It was a crazy scene for a few minutes, our little yorkie barking & chasing this "bigger than her" creature, me trying to catch her to protect her, the schnauzer barking like crazy, the squirrel jumping at the windows to try to escape. It finally did leave out the front door. We had a good laugh over that.
I like "A glad heart makes a happy face." Better than a face lift:-)

Hello Everyone,
Lots of nuggets in the reading today. The one I focused on was Prov 15:3 "The Lord is watching everywhere, keeping his eye on both the evil and the good." Our speaker yesterday at church shared how God is continually working through situations and circumstances of our lives and our loved one's lives, to draw all of them to Himself.
That same verse is referenced to Psalm 139:6, where David states "Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!" It baffles my mind to try to comprehend how all this is possible, but I believe. And I trust, and I pray, and I hope.
While I was mindlessly working in the field today, preparing the seed bed for my husband to plant into, I brought all of you ladies before the Lord. As many of your names and requests as I could recall, and then I just prayed a huge blessing over the rest of you. You are all becoming like family to me, I look for your names and comments each day!

Teeny glad you are still with your son in VA. My grandma has that swallowing problem too. She eats really small bites and chews, chews, chews! Now, she can only eat very small amounts. So, she says she picks her amounts very carefully – chocolate! Smile
She’s 94 and I’ve quit telling her what to do!
Allie- God bringing the family together…you noticing this thru Ryan’s trial…these moments make our trials bearable! We are asking God to heal Ryan and shine His glory for others to see and notice. For His kingdom to be furthered through Ryan’s sickness.
Susie, prying for Ryan – for encouraging Believers to surround him and guide him back to the straight and narrow. Hoping, through Kelly, that others’ in your circle of influence will come to know God and be wooed by His miracles, through Kelly, -this sweet princess of His!
Elizabeth praying that a job opens up just for you. It was God you know that brought you to our group, to be encouraged and prayed over by us. Stay in His Word, daily –that is His desire, the enemy will do everything he can to keep you away. Stay with us, we want to be sure and say PTL when He opens up a job for you. Believe!

Marybeth Whalen posted a list of scripture verses a few summers ago on her blog. The idea was that if you prayed one verse over your husband each day, then over the course of a month you would have prayed for his job, his mind, etc. I just spent way too long trying to find it on her blog and couldn't, but if anyone wants it, I can e-mail it out - just let me know.

Thanks so much! I use Stormie's book all the time. In fact, I used it this morning :) One of my dear sisters said when she ducked and let God work He did amazing things. I am learning how to duck and let Him have full control. Lori has taught me alot on loving and not judging. I am a work in progress, but I know the changes I have seen and the progress that has been made as far as my husband going to church and things like that are all God. It took me taking my eyes off of me and the situation and onto God and only Him, I gave up trying and invited Him in to do what only He can do. I see things all the time and I know it is Him working :)

Lord we lift up Denise to your hands this morning. we thank you that though she has struggled with her health for a long time, you have remained God in her life. we pray for energy and strength in the coming few days. may you renew her body Lord. allow her strength to attend to the wedding this weekend. Father allow your child to enjoy with her niece and nephew as they make this important step in life.
we pray for the new couple. Lord, be the foundation of their home. Build love and respect in this home. Be the center and priest as they start their life together. amen

To all with unresolved problems -
"Each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can fully share its joy." I really dislike it when people say, for example at a funeral, "I know just how you feel" unless they also have lost a father, mother, husband, etc. I know they mean well and to all of you going thru trials and illness right now, I don't know exactly how you feel but there is one who does - so accept my humble prayers for you and know that the Father holds you in the palm of his hand. The Proverb also says that" no one else can fully share its joy" - but we hope as much as we can participate in your joy in the resolution, let us do that!
"A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones." I have always wished for my retirement years to be peaceful. This Bible study with all of you has helped me so much. I have often felt the jealousy like cancer in my bones. Please Lord, let me not feel jealousy for anyone.
"Godliness makes a nation great but sin is a disgrace to any people." Please Lord, bring our country back to Godliness while there is still time. And let us remember all who have lived and died for our freedom. Lt. Laurie, my daughter, is flying back from Diego Garcia to Jacksonville right now. I don't think I will see her on this trip either.
"Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city." One of my Mom's "Momisms" was "Patience is a virtue." Dear Lord, help me to be virtuous.

Allie, I started a prayer journal on 5/24, and I just went back and wrote (in pink ink) the praise report for your Ryan. It felt so good to see an answered prayer that I had actually prayed about. I pray that I will use a lot of pink ink in this notebook. ;)
Elizabeth, I commit to you my prayers that God will place you in a place of employment very soon. I teach the Young Adults at our church, and there is a precious young man who just graduated from Appalachian with a degree in Construction Management; he cannot find a job and it does not look too promising for him. We went over the scripture in Matt. 9:29 about having the faith that He will take care of our needs...as we believe. Then, we went to Habakkuk 2:3: "But these things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!" I cannot imagine 2 yrs. without a job, but then the material I used with my class, from Daily Hope, stated that :
Noah waited 120 yrs. from the time he started building the ark until it began to rain.
Joseph spent yrs. in prison before God raised him up and he became the ruler God wanted him to be.
Abraham....
Moses....
God had David anointed as king, but David waited for yrs. until he actually got to be king.
I PRAY that I am not seeming harsh or offending to you; I just am trying to encourage you that maybe God wants you in a place that you have dreamed of working or maybe He is wanting you to do something for Him and His Glory??? I don't know, but I am sure you are trusting Him in all of this. In the area I live in, we have one of the highest unemployment rates in the state of NC; there are several people in our church without jobs and searching, having to move, etc. It is a sad time!!!! I am going to trust God for you just as a precious unemployed member said last night,"I still don't have a job, but I know that God is going to provide for me and my family in His way and His time." I will tell him about you as he is a mighty prayer warrior. May it not be too much longer that I can use my pink ink beside your name. ;)
Michelle, may your soul be still throughout this special week in you and your daughter's life. I love that song; we had it sung at our daddy's funeral 8 yrs. ago. I had never heard of it until then, and now you know of it. God is so good to share among us!!!! Praying for Denise to have that special strength that only God can provide!!! (I'm planning on using my pink ink pen next week this time beside her name and yours).

As most of you, I loved certain verses as you did; however, I noticed the word PRUDENT being used in Pr. 14:8,15,and 18, so I looked the word up. Def. of prudent(you smart gals probably know it, but God placed it on my heart for a reason...I'm not sure what/why yet...but He'll let me know): exercizing good judgment or common sense; careful in regard to one's own interests; provident(frugal,econimical; providing carefully for the future).Yep!!! Going back through and inserting my name, I see what He wants me to see: I must use common sense and use good judgment in this season of my life--I am thinking of taking care of 3 grandchildren within the next year ( a soon to be 3 yr. old, a 3 month old, then a new born after Christmas)
v.15--He wants me to be "prudent" in my steps about this matter; I must give careful, prayerful consideration to all concerned: will it be challenging? yes
will it be demanding? yes
can I make a difference in these precious children's lives in sharing Jesus with them as I should have with their moma and daddy??? YES
is it worth THAT??? to me, yes
to Jesus, I believe so
v. 18--will some people see me as as foolish if I do this...I'll be giving up a lot of my "free time" and "me time", BUT THE LORD will crown me with knowledge if I am prudent.
WOW!!!! I did not see this coming when I started typing this. What a way to end my day...with these thoughts about God's Words speaking to me about this matter. This is truly a God Share for me. Please pray for me about this matter...any feedback from you memas and g.mas???? This is not for me and my comfort zone, but I've never been much into me anyway. I think of it as the best gift that I could give to my son and daughter and their spouses. I said that when I retired that my life would be spent for getting closer to the Lord in my everyday and taking care of whatever I needed to for my children. Enough, I could write on and on!!!

Hey girls, Wanted to let you know I am still reading the posts every day just have not had time to write. Proverbs have been awesome. I have been texting my kids ages 24, 21 and 20 a Proverb daily. They seem to enjoy them and at least I know they are reading one verse of scripture a day. The reason I have not been posting is that I just finished leading a Bible study and am getting ready to lead a new one for new believers. This is something that I feel God is leading me to do and when I mentioned it to my pastor they were wanting to start a class like that but did not know who to have lead it. God has really opened doors for me and I am so excited. Wendy thanks for all the prayers you have sent up for me - continue to pray each of you that my husband and I will lead as God would have us to and say what He wants us to say and that the ones He has chosen for class will attend. Welcome to all you new ladies too. This is the best thing I could have ever done. I am always so blessed by reading and learning what others have revealed to them. You are going to love it!
