Amy, that was awesome how you turned some of today's verses into very specific prayers. And Loice's over the weekend was great, too. Amy, I remember you saying how your girls like to collect rocks on your walks and I wanted to share this idea for a summer activity, especially for Andi. I have used a white pen to write the words "Faith", "Joy" and "Peace" on some smooth, long, dark rocks we collected at the beach, and I have them propped on my kitchen windowsill amid some flowers and birds. A great reminder to pray while I do mindless tasks at the sink. The white pen works beautifully.
Jen Ren, SAPing for you to seek God's help in pulling out of your depression, which again seems to be hitting you after a wonderful vacation with family. Sweetie, do you really need to live alone? I think you would do better if you had others around you more. I want to seek and meditate on His Word so that I will not "wander from His commandments". If I actively seek, He will "Strengthen me according to Your word', revive me, give me understanding and wisdom, so that I might not sin against Him. I am so thankful that He has given us His word to guide me, equip me and show me how much He loves me!

I really needed today. Thank you Wendy for your words! They really helped me. Amy, our prayers are beautiful! And if I may, I would like to copy them into my journal and pray them.
I have been traveling A LOT! I have made three major trips in the last month, with two of them back to the States. I don't want to make this a Whine, so I will stick to the events. This past weekend, I had to postpone an anniversary trip with my husband to come to California and address a business issue that cannot be put off. I was very disheartened.
I had a long talk with myself and my God yesterday. I made a vow with Him that I would continue to remain in His word daily, even if I am not able to come here and read posts or watch the vlog. I further committed to resume my practice of praying specifically! I was becoming very lazy, praying lists of names and adding “meet them in their need...” Pretty pathetic praying!
God met me in my need! Even though I was not where I wanted to be geographically or physically, I went to my home church yesterday. I met with old Bible Study friends, sang familiar hymns, was refreshed in the Word, and even was able to hand off a quilt for a new grand baby due any moment. I was able to do this last face-to-face and hug-to-hug! I realized that God put me here to recharge me. I did praise Him for blessing me.
Today I sat in my hotel room and read Psalm 119 aloud. I paused as I read each verse and let it soak in. There is not one verse, or even a few that I can say stand out. The whole Psalm wrapped around me and reminded me that He loves me. He never leaves me. I remain in Him and He remains in me. I dwell on His word, I write them in my heart. I praise Him when I match my actions to His decrees. He surrounds me with His love and with people who fear His word. Even when I am discouraged, disconnected, disheartened, He is lifting me up and reassuring me of His presence in my life and encouraging me to see His hand at work. I am where He planted me and I have a purpose for right this moment.
143 As pressure and stress bear down on me,
I find joy in your commands.

It was like I had never read this chapter before - when I read it this morning. I have even read it at one sitting several times. For some reason, I am feeling that way about this complete study alot.
Delight in His word - as Wendy said. Enjoy it - wallow in it. But today what I got was this psalmist always was talking about the instuctions, commands, and laws. Said less than 10 times about God's love and grace. That is truly the old law verses the new. In the old law given at Mt Sinai, it was if you obey my laws I will bless you. Since Jesus died for us, it is now about I have loved you greater than you can ever love me, I have blessed you more than you can ever bless me, so out of love - obey me, draw close to me. Thirst for me. Talk with me, praise me. I am so glad that I live on this side of the cross.
Gaylene, you wished you could go with me to Turkey, don't let the cost of the trip be the reason that you don't go. You surrender and God will give you the money.
Amy, I am so glad that you prayed God's Word back to Him. His Word is so much greater than our words, I feel that it is just the best that we can do. Claim His promises by using His Word. Then putting the praises to music, must be the most pleasing to Him and to us. The only gift we can give Him when we are in Heaven is the crown He gave us. That always bring tears for me to realize that there is nothing I can give Him, He already has it all, except the crown that He gave me. LORD - help me to have a glorious crown, one that you will be proud of.
Wendy, you are so much clearer this way. Also your "bangs" are on the left side of your face, unlike before. I like it.

Today's reading:
When I saw Psalm 119, my first thought was "Oh, here we go." The 176 verses used to be daunting for me so I would chop it in two or three readings. But like, you, Wendy I found it so rich in today's reading and even highlighted a lot of portions. It really came alive when I read it. I suppose it is the timing of it all. When we are in a place that we cry out to God, this Psalm (any Psalm actually) just resonates.
My favorite:
169 O Lord, listen to my cry;
give me the discerning mind you promised.
170 Listen to my prayer;
rescue me as you promised.
171 Let praise flow from my lips,
for you have taught me your decrees.
172 Let my tongue sing about your word,
for all your commands are right.
173 Give me a helping hand,
for I have chosen to follow your commandments.
174 O Lord, I have longed for your rescue,
and your instructions are my delight.
May the the Word to get deep inside of us that it will give us discernment on when/where/how to proceed. And as it says in Psalm 119:105 "Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path." May it always be so for us.

Happy July 12th! Wendy, I’m so like you, wanting to do a week’s worth of projects all in one day! Thank you for your lesson today – boy or boy, did it speak to me!
Today we read not only the longest Psalm…but, it’s got to be the absolute longest chapter in the entire Bible! As I was pondering over that, thinking to myself, more about this specific chapter…each verse popped out to me in a different way. Did you notice EVERY (well, about 99 %) verse spoke about God’s Word!

Every verse exalted the Word of God! What does that tell us? God is telling us, I do believe just how important His Word is to us. It is Him talking to us. He has brought me to the point the past couple of years – just what you said, Karen – daily we have to read His Word. It’s the one thing that has to be done. It’s the one thing that matters in our day. Our happiness comes from our desire to seek and follow God, to be in His will for us. We become fulfilled as we get to know his “unsearchable riches” that is written from Genesis through Revelation (Eph. 3:9). God is made known through the scriptures to us.
But, what I also saw today was how most of us Christians are knowledgeable – we know the doctrinal truth---but, that is only the first step. We have to read the Bible to know it…but, then comes the indwelling Holy Spirit guiding us to live out what we know in our minds…Being filled to the brim with the Spirit everywhere in us – to the point that God’s love is actually coming right out of us. His light shining for those around us to see.
This is where I’m lacking, ladies. I’m seeking God, but, I’m realizing I have a way to go, still! I don’t want to be like the Pharisees – cleaned up and looking good on the outside –but full of sinful impurities on the inside! My heart: my thoughts and actions and words…I want my inward and outward to match – to live out God’s Word.
I love God’s Word, and I so want to love it even more. Several years ago, He brought me to a point where I was not satisfied. I could not put my finger on it, but there was a void that I felt. I remember talking to Him about it, and I now know it was Him pursuing me and drawing me to Him, getting me ready for what He had planned for me all along. I remember even feeling guilty as I cried out to Him, saying, “Lord, why do I feel this way? You have given me everything I could ever want or desire, but I’m still feeling empty. I just did not get it, sisters. I felt like there just had to be more to life, but I could not put my finger on it. A feeling of wanting more. Not long after that was when I toppled on Wendy’s blog inviting us to read through the Word in 2009. It’s been amazing, - learning that God’s Word brings satisfaction, true happiness, lasting peace,

hope, encouragement, joy – nothing else does, ladies. I had everything, but still I felt empty! I remember a specific morning in my car, thinking about how sad it is that everyone is searching for happiness. Buying self-help books, looking for happiness, etc. The most purchased book, which is also the least read –is the only book we each need to read. The Holy Bible is the one book that will guide us to know God intimately. It’s sad that so many people are searching and just don’t get it.
And, that my friends is where we come into play. It’s our job to show them the way. And, how can we do this? By loving and showing our compassion to those around us. Loving from the inside –out!
And, ladies I’m not there yet. It’s where I want to be, but I’m not even close. Until I have people coming up to me and pulling on the hem of my shirt and saying, “I want what you have,” well, then I’m just blending in to the world…looking and acting like everyone else. Lots to think about today. That is what God’s Word does to us. It sinks into our bones, and gets us thinking about it all day long!
Just yesterday, I was reading my Bible on the sofa…my 18 year old fire muff pops in and begins playing the piano, and before I know it my husband has joined us. Then, Colton starts up a conversation and I chime in…and what does Colton tell me? “That is pretty judgmental, Mom!” OUCH! Double OUCH!! Here I am, reading my Bible, and judging words popping right out on my little tongue. Yikes, God has a lot of work to do with me…it’s no wonder Dave is not saved yet. There is still sin on my heart. Conceit. Judgmental thoughts. Lord, help me to rid the sin from my heart. Help me not to know Your Word only, but to live it – that is the only way my light is going to shine. That is the only way, I am going to stand out and look different. Right now I’m just blending in and looking worldly to those around me. Lord, thank you for being patient with me and for not giving up. Thank you for enlightening the sin on my heart. Lord, my desire is to know you more today. Thank you for your Word. May I truly live it. Humbly, I present myself before you, knowing I have a long way to go. Help me to love those around me – without any conditions attached. Clinging to You today, to do this. All my love, dear Jesus, in Your precious name I pray, Amen.

He has said he would continue to go with me and I am really excited about what God is going to do in him and in us as a family! Thank you for all of you who are praying for the husbands! So, being in the car at an unusual time, I caught a piece of a Charles Stanley sermon that was broadcast yesterday, on discouragement leading to depression and how to combat it. I have to confess that much reading in the Word has been just that...reading. I am struggling to find it penetrating and am therefore tempted to neglect it. I was led today though even before I saw Wendy's post to catalogue what is said about the work of the Word:

Footnote for Ps 119 in the New American Bible: This psalm, the longest by far in the Psalter, praises God for giving such splendid laws and instruction for people to live by. The author glorifies and thanks God for the Torah, prays for protection from sinners enraged by others’ fidelity to the law, laments the cost of obedience, delights in the law’s consolations, begs for wisdom to understand the precepts, and asks for the rewards of keeping them. Several expected elements do not appear in the psalm: Mount Sinai with its story of God’s revelation and gift to Israel of instruction and commandments, the temple and other institutions related to revelation and laws (frequent in other psalms). The psalm is fascinated with God’s word directing and guiding human life.

(On the back in small print it reads : with God all things are possible) It is a reminder to me about so much. Wendy- Loved your vlog today! I too am a living testimony to what you talked about. Several years ago, I was challenged by Beth Moore to ask God to help me love Him more and to ask Him to give me a love for His Word. He is FAITHFUL!!!! I am a "work" in progress.
I love so much of Psalm 119. I'd like to share a few scriptures with you from the Amplified version which brings out the richness of the Hebrew and Greek languages.
1) Blessed (Happy, fortunate, to be envied) are the undefiled (the upright, truly sincere, and blameless) in the way (of the revealed will of God), who walk (order their conduct and conversation) in the law of the Lord (the whole of God's revealed will).

Good afternoon GIGs! Loved Wendy's vlog and your comments. I will begin the reading later as I want to read the entire Psalm aloud. I've never read it in one sitting and am looking forward to this time in His Word.
arrived home Sat about 6p.m., Glad Sarah and Stefani were here to help unload the luggage. Nice being back and getting settled again. Had a glorious day with my church family on Sunday. Many hugs and much love from this little country church. God is moving in the hearts of His people!
A trip to Walmart this morning was glorious! Singing Scripture songs and praising the the entire way there and back (20 miles each way).
Your posts have excited me to hurry to read.
Jen I am praying for you. Seems as if each time you have a really fun time with friends and family that the enemy tries to rob and steal your joy. When the thoughts come, begin to rebuke and reject them and speak God Word. the enemy will slink away. You are loved by all of us and we treasure you.

GIG what an incredible chapter is Psalm 119! Might be the longest, but sure is packed full of nuggets.
Missing the grandkids, and kids today and was given verse 90 "your faithfulness continues through all generations" Not one has ever been nor ever will be left out of God's sight. Such a wonderful promise!
Three papers in three days were written. Now on for the ones due this week (yes, 3 more). I thank everyone for their prayers; I felt them supporting me as I wrote (much like Rhonda as you ran!). Michelle, the marathon of the mind made me chuckle as this is so much like that.
Praising God for all the answers, for Elizabeth's situation, for Teeny being home, for the husband that went to church, for children who are able to get us to smile, to think, to examine our words, for the love shown here for each other and that God shows us in so many different ways.
Praying for the needs, for an uplifting of the spirit for Jennifer Renee, for Karen as you travel (how do you overcome the jet lag?)for Stephanie and the baby, for Jacque, for G&P,and for the others. We have a great God!

Hi Ladies,
I have been out these readings for the last two weeks and I have truly missed it. I do Love God's word and when I open up my bible to today's readings I said OH, I Love Psalms 119. One of my favorites. I want to continue to read daily but I may not always post.
Wendy, have you heard how Angela is doing with her cancer?
