Something Old:
Being exiled doesn't mean extinction. God may remove His hand of blessing and favor from our lives temporarily due to our rebellion and disobedience. He separates Himself from me but does not abandoned me. His intention is for us to see our need of Him, to repent and return to Him with all our heart. He our Rescuer, our Deliverer from our exile.
Something New:
I love the way God tells His people they will be sent into exile (Micah 4:10) and tells them He will gather them back up. He will guide them with His very own hand. (Micah 2:13b)

I am back in Basel, having arrived yesterday afternoon. I kept falling asleep, so I did not pop in to read what I had missed.
I just finished skimming comments from Friday and the weekend;
Prayers for Denise, Mikey, travelers, and Michael. I will read more closely later and add prayers to this list later.
Wendy, you mentioned that you had a hard time finding nuggets, but you lit on a good one! My nugget was the Highway of Holiness (Isaiah 35:8-10). It's a Great Road; no longer a narrow path. Evil-minded people will never travel it. It will only be for those who walk in God's ways. There will be no other dangers along it. I can't wait to see it!
Also in Isaiah 35:4-6 we see the coming of the savior. "He is coming to save you...he will open the eyes of the blind and unplug the ears of the deaf. The lame will leap like a deer and those who cannot speak will sing for joy."
Be fore I read this today, as I was praying to the Lord, I dwelt on a similar theme; Jesus came and made the physically blind see, the physically deaf hear, the physically lame walk, and the physically dead live again. He did all this as a foil for the spiritually blind, deaf, lame and dead spiritual and political leaders of the time, but they remained as they were. Today I see spiritually blind, deaf, lame and dead people all around me. I even see some of this in me (my exiled parts). After reading Isaiah 35, I prayed for my Savior to heal these parts of me and my family, to take away our limitations and allow us to see Him in every aspect of our lives.

Welcome back, Karen. Even half asleep, you write wonderful posts. Thank you, as well as for your prayers for Denise. I was moved by the same verses as you were, but will focus on another.
Early in today's reading, I wrote in my notes "how many times do the people need to be warned about the consequences of disobedience/exile. I prayed that I would never need another warning/exile/pruning in my own life, and that I would follow Him all the days of my life. Which then brings me to my nugget from later in the reading. It's Micah 4:4-5, and I chose to insert my name to make this both my nugget, my To Do, and a prayer:
"[Michelle] will live in peace and prosperity, enjoying [her] grapevines and fig trees, for there will be nothing to fear.
The LORD of Heaven's Armies has made this promise!
Though the nations around us follow their idols,
[Michelle] will follow the LORD [her] God forever and ever."
May the Lord help me to fulfill this promise to Him, I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
It brings to mind the song "Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me."

I am praying for all. I thank God for working in each of our lives!
Micah 4:1, the mt of the LORD will be & it IS the most important place on earth. Jerusalem is so very important to so many today.
Micah 5:2, the promise of a savior who will come from Bethlehem. It still gives me goose bumps when I think about how God foretold the birth of Jesus. And it all came true.
Isaiah 35:4 'Say to those who are afraid, "Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you." This is the hope of restoration of Israel (of God's people you & I included). Is the same hope that I can stand on during & through troubles.
Micah 2:11,'Suppose a prophet full of lies were to say to you, "I'll preach to you the joys of wine and drink!" That's just the kind of prophet you would like!' This is so like to today. Many believe in, if it feels good, do it. Not all things even if there good things are always the way to live. Balance, we need balance in all parts of our lives with Jesus in the center!

Continued prayers for Denise.
In today's reading, I also loved the verses Michelle and the others picked. After reading all the destruction that is to come, it is refreshing to read about what will happen AFTER those events.
That verse in Micah about Bethlehem also caught my attention. It is one of the main prophecies fulfilled by Jesus Christ. He fulfilled over 300 of them. Imagine the care and the detail that God had to arrange to make sure we see that. Here is a website that lists the prophecies and where Jesus fulfilled them in the new testament. Be blessed - and amazed at our God.

I am having a bit of a struggle reading through Isaiah. I pondered and realized it was what "tense of time" he was referring to, in his prophecy. I was talking to my daughter, who took a course on the Major Prophets through a Baptist Seminary, and her thought was that he is speaking past, present and future. Any thoughts? Perhaps I was being too over-analytical, which I tend to do.
I have the Matthew Henry Concise Commentary on the Whole Bible and pulled out these nuggets:
Micah was raised up to support Isaiah
Isaiah 34: Those who aim to ruin the church, can never do that, but will ruin themselves. What dismal changes sin makes. It turns fruitful land in barrenness....As Israel was a figure of the Christian church, so the Edomites, their bitter enemies, represent the enemies of the kingdom of Christ. God's Jerusalem may be laid in ruins for a time, but the enemies of the church shall be desolate for ever.
Micah 2 (commentary for verses 6-11)
Sinners cannot expect to rest in a land they have polluted. You shall not only be obliged to depart out of this land, but it shall destroy you. Apply this to our state in this present world. There is corruption in the world through lust, and we should keep at a distance from it. It is not our rest: it was designed for our passage, but not for our portion; our inn, but not our home.....
I loved that last sentence - do not lay your rest in the lusts of the world. Just pass on through--quickly!

These 2 separate verses….What are they saying to Me/ You today??
Micah 3:11.…….Yet all of you claim to depend on the LORD.
So uplifted….yet full of wonder in the next chapter or chapters in His book he has for me.
….Isaiah 34:16 Look in the book of the LORD* and read: No one of these shall be lacking, For the mouth of the LORD has ordered it, and his spirit shall gather them there.
Footnote 34:16: Book of the Lord: God’s list of all his creatures; cf Ps 69:29, “the book of the living”; Ps 139:16, “your book.”……….WOW!! “your (My-our) book” he has it written.
Psalms 139: 16: Your eyes foresaw my actions; in your book all are written down; my days were shaped, before one came to be………I guess I knew some of this….but today for some reason it has stirred up the spirit. My summer has really been indescribable…..Ladies I did another 5K run this Sunday morning….This is truly Him doing this. Out of 114 participants I was the overall female winner. #9 across the finish line….The first woman to cross was me (HIM). He did it!! “Faith”…(my precious daughter) Bettered my (His) time by a whole 1 min. 7 seconds. Time was 22:45. Am I suppose to tell others about this chapter of “your book” Sisters Faith….Faith in Him if any one is lacking it ….go to Him. Read His book. Let His words that are written for your book guide you.
“ Faith“…I always wondered what “Faith” really is? I lacked it. Did I depend on the LORD? Do I have enough faith in Him? What is he telling Me today? What are my next chapters going to be about ? Will I truly trust Him in the next valley?…. “Yet all of you claim to depend on the LORD.” Why do I lack in faith?
Running…..
This summer through running ….I believe he is testing me.
Sunday morning before the run he nudged me to read the same Psalms I read to my son on Thursday. I did church twice this weekend (boy when I was a child….the complaining I would of done)..….Family was on for the Saturday evening service…..Sunday our church celebrated it 100th year of being established….so the bishop was coming to speak & celebrate mass with us….love listening to His messages….also felt a great need to send up praises…..just simply felt great to be in his presence listening to His word.
You all were so much in my prayers this weekend. Michelle for you and your sister Denise, Mikey, Jennifer Renee a miracle for just a little sight and to fill her with your positiveness, Linda for you at home (restful sleep) and your husband in the Dominican Republic, Dixie strength “his faith” undergoing breast biopsy this Wednesday, Kristin TX and Rebecca & her family, G & P husband & son Carlo to be saved and Dad’s recent decision, Lori safe travels…peaceful vacation.

Jessica I read your information that you put on your blog. I also enjoy the books that you put down as your favorites. I've read all the Anne of Green Gables series. I also enjoy The Chronicles of Narnia and the Little House on the Prairy books. There are some book series written by Christian authors. I have a two book series by Tom Davis and two other authors whose book series I want are Mary DeMuth and Jennifer Valent.

Rhonda, you really are amazing! Sounds like you are living your life (spiritual and otherwise)to the fullest!! I thank you and all the others who are praying for Denise! It's working, PTL!! I just got home from the hospital, and Denise is responding very well to the antibiotics. So well, in fact, that the doctors are going to hold off on doing a broncoscopy, and another procedure, for now! And her spirits are pretty good. The hospital TV station plays non-stop "I Love Lucy" reruns, so we had fun watching those [smile]. Thank you, heavenly Father, for Denise's laughter today! I pray with my Wendy sisters that you would continue to heal Denise's infections, and clear her lungs, in Jesus' name, Amen.

Thanks so much for the continued prayer for sweet Rebecca. She is at home and tonight - mom, dad and Rebecca are going to the movies. She is very nervous and hesitant about going out in public because of the tube in her nose, but she has to learn to be strong. The tube will be there for a long time - even after school starts. Prayer for strength for this brave young girl as she confronts her fears.
Continued prayers for Denise, Jen Ren, Michael, Mikey, Lori (safe travels), Dixie, and all the others. This is an amazing group and I am truly blessed to be a part.

Rhonda in NY...I'm with you on wanting to better understand which tense is being spoken: past/present/future. Are these prophecies fulfilled years ago; or to be fulfilled yet? I believe they are some of both, but I cannot always tell which is which.
Moments of exile? Yes, been there...done that...and it definitely has shown me my need for my Lord and His presence in my life.

No job for me yet. I am really getting down to the wire here. My car registration, smog check for my car, and car insurance are due early next month and I do not have the funds for these. One really needs a car in looking for work.

For sweet Rebecca - I worked with children who had trachs in their throat and survived on ventilators. One girl went to her senior prom on a ventilator and in a wheelchair and hair done up and new dress and looked gorgeous! If anyone stares or comments you can always say - some girls have those silly nose rings that don't do anything but my nose tube does something wonderful for me!
Thank you all for your prayers for me tomorrow. I fear not in the outcome - Thy will be done not mine. And even when I was not aware of it, God always has held me in the palm of his hand.!
