Micah 6:3As I read verses four and five I recounted the countless number of things the Lord has done for me. I was convicted of my ungrateful attitude and how often I take God's graciousness for granted.
Something New:
"Your citizens are so used to lying that their tongues can longer tell the truth."
Micah 6:12bI need to be careful about the company I keep. I can become like the company I keep.
Something to Do:
Do what is good. Follow the rules. It's that simple.

Rhonda in N.Y. and Morgen here's what I can share about Isaiah right now. Isaiah has 66 chapters just like the Bible has 66 books. Chapters 1-39 refer to the Old Testament books and chapters 40-66 refer to the New Testament. I think Micah is talking about things that happened in the Old Testament. Things that have already happened. My pastor will be picking me up tonight for church so I'll ask him about the time period that Micah is talking about.
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12).
I looked up Micah's introduction by Matthew Henry, Chuck Smith, David Guzik and my NIV study bible. Matthew Henry seemed to sum it up best for me:
The scope of the whole is, I. To convince sinners of their sins, by setting them in order before them, charging both Israel and Judah with idolatry, covetousness, oppression, contempt of the word of God, and their rulers especially, both in church and state, with the abuse of their power; and also by showing them the judgments of God ready to break in upon them for their sins. II. To comfort God’s people with promises of mercy and deliverance, especially with an assurance of the coming of the Messiah and of the grace of the gospel through him.
I think we find applicability to all time in these prophecies. We see ourselves. We see today's world. We see the prophesies of the end of times here as well as we see the foretelling of Christ and the more immediate events like the exile of the Israelites (605-585 BC), the fall of Samaria (722-721 BC), and the revolt against Assyria (701 BC). So these prophesies cover all times.
Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known (I Corinthians 13:12).
My advice is to spend each day soaking up the truths for you. As Michelle and Loice have, insert your name in verses that speak directly to you. Drink in His promises; He is not done yet. As we were taught to pray: "Your Kingdom come, Your will be done". It is not here and it is not finished.
Wendy, I also camped on Micah 6:8. I loved the song, such a toe-tapper!
Another verse I underlined is 2 Chronicles 32:7 - Be strong and courageous! Don't be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria or his mighty army for there is a power far greater on our side.

Not Done Reading - However listened to the vlog. I too underlined Micah 6:8, as well as 7:4-9. Also The Lords compassion on Irael 7:14-20.
I also like 2 Chron. 32:8 ... We have the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles for us!.... Such a great reminder to lay our cares, thoughts, needs our life down to God, He will fight the battle for us. (Way better that we can!)

Wendy, you are glowing today, with His light shining out of your eyes and through your words!! Happy 200th day, or 201st, or whatever!! It's glorious no matter what the number!
I put a BIG circle around Micah 6:8. It's so simple and so true, and reminded me of a little catch phrase I would use with my children when they were growing up. "JBN" I would say, meaning "just be nice". Using the acronym allowed me to correct them gently, even if they had friends around, without embarrassing them.
Some of today's reading did make me weary with its gloom and repetition, but I NEVER get weary of praising Him for all He has done for me, even when I didn't realize and acknowledge it was Him doing it. I'm doing a lot of catch up praising these days!
Dixie, praying for a peaceful, secure-in-His-promises day for you as you prepare spiritually for your breast biopsy tomorrow. Dear Lord, I pray that you would protect Dixie so that she would not be anxious about anything, in Jesus's name, Amen.

I just felt so excited and inspired when I read that!
I never thought too much about Micah prior to this year. He was just one of those minor prophets tucked away. WOW - I am looking at Michah through a whole different light now. So much to glean from Micah.

Micah 6:8 also had caught my attention today...but something else as well.
Micah 6:14, "You will eat but not be satisfied; your stomach will still be empty." I think this spoke to me since I've been on a lifestyle change since February. Main goal has been to eat less, move more. Yet there are still some days that I eat and am not satisfied, (not because of not eating enough or good and healthy foods)...no the not being satisfied is like if I have something sweet, maybe salty would be better, not salty? then maybe crunchy, etc.
I'll park myself with Micah 7:7, "But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me." Thank you God!

I read up on Micah's background, too. Jon Courson said that Micah's ministry is unique because for 40 years he prophesied both in the Northern AND Southern kingdoms. He is a contemporary of Isaiah and "the Book of Micah is sometimes called "Isaiah in shorthand" because much of what is written in Isaiah is also recorded in Micah...With so much of Isaiah found in Micah, it's easy to wonder why the Lord inspired Micah to write at all. {Courson} suggests one reason might be that a lot of us get swamped with Isaiah's 66 chapters. So in Micah we find an abridged version of Isaiah. Second, the Book of Micah underscores the fact that, in order to learn lessons, we need to hear them repeatedly." (p. 827-828, Jon Courson's Application Commentary Old Testament, vol. 2)
So this means just like Isaiah, Micah's prophecies both have an immediate and future fulfillment. We know that the "remnant" has returned to the land on May 14, 1948 when the nation of Israel was formed. Knowing God, everything else will fall into place eventually.

You put so much into this time for us on "Face to Face". When you get to Heaven you will be amazed at all the people that come to you and say you made such a difference in my life. I wish I could think of the song that is about just that. If I do I will send it later. Thank you for the Chapman song. That just really completed the reading/message for me today perfectly. Good morning!! I don't know about where you are at but it is rainy and overcast here in Illinois. I woke up to my feet hitting water when I got out of bed. Yep...a leak. I live in a basement apartment and there is a leak that the landlord "fixed". So I grabbed my ShamWows and began the soaking up process.
Teeny, I liked how you mentioned "choices". I chose to praise God for the puddle even though I felt a little silly doing it. I stood in my shower singing "thank you Lord for the rain puddle in my bedroom floor". It worked though because I am still smiling.
I, too, stuck on Micah 6:8. What simple instruction but yet so hard to follow at times.
I also can't get out of my head the thought of Isaiah walking around naked!!! This was from a couple of days ago but after reading that I said "thank you Lord for not calling me to that task". LOL I think would be a disobediant servant.

Congrats on day 200! Hope you all find someone to celebrate with :)
Things here are going ok - Elliot is down for his nap. Having another tough teething week - fever, cranky and crying. Breaks my heart to see him so uncomfortable. We are on a regular advil, freezie and liquid diet for most part. Going to try for some distraction at the pool this afternoon.
Good news/bad news. Saw a rheumatologist yesterday. Doesn't look like I have fibromyalgia or arthritis but still no real clue what the problem is. I need Dr. Jesus :)

JenRen---Just read your comments from yesterday. Thank you for checking out my blog. I have been lax in posting lately.
I recently purchased Jennifer Valent's first book after checking out from the library and falling in love with it. I am anxiously waiting on the second one in the series. I don't think it's out yet.
My mom used to read to me every night even in my tween years. We read the Little House books and then the Anne of Green Gables. We will still say "I'm surry" when we mess up on something (that's how Gilbert Blythe said it in the movie).
I don't know what I would do without the world of books...they take me to places that I would never be able to go and they keep my imagination alive.

Cindy, I thought the same thing about the eating verses. Sometimes I 'crave' something and keep eating, when it's not really food that I want at all. Still working on this!

The past few days its been very hard to focus when reading. Dave and I have been disagreeing about a few things, and I have not been the obedient, submissive wife that I need to be. My temper gets the best of me! As I've calmed back down and worked to forgive, I feel closer. Why do I let little things keep me from 'walking humbly' and 'showing mercy?'
Putting the final touches in our suitcases and heading off to my parents' house in VA tomorrow for a few days with the kids. I'll be reading along as best I can, but I won't have regular 'net access. I'll miss you and try to catch up when I get back. Have a great week, everyone!

Give peaceful sleep to your precious daughter Dixie tonight, as she prepares for her biopsy tomorrow. Be her strength as she courageously faces this testing and awaits the results. Your plan is perfect for her, so please fill her with loving hope that You will lead her even closer to you through this trial.
